ABOUT US: We’re traveling full time, living on our own terms and showing you the up-close-and-personal details of us figuring it out along the way. Sometimes it’s about navigating big, life-altering decisions. Sometimes it’s about navigating the seemingly lawless free-for-all that is driving in Hanoi. It’s moments of triumph and moments of panic.
The good, the bad, the ugly - and most importantly, the real and real funny. We’re not here to tell you “how it’s done.” Just how we’ve done it. And that whatever it is that’s calling you - the way you’ll do it is much more attainable than it may seem. We believe the world’s a more interesting place when people reject convention in favor of what they actually care about. This is us putting that idea to the test - one budget spreadsheet, RV renovation and mountain-peak drone video at a time.

Wow! Can't believe you have visited such amazing places on a budget. Thanks for keeping us entertained and for showing us how to safely travel.
Awesome guys! If you're still in St Thomas, I'd like to invite you out to listen to some live music. I'm a musician currently on island. Between St Thomas and St John.
@@vlchalwell where is the live music at?
They didn't once mention the safari. It's dirt cheap transportation, $1 or $2 and it takes you around the south part of the island and you can hit at least 4 beaches, all of downtown, Havenight and Crown Bay, which are all popular spots. Take it from an expert, not a tourist!
thanks for this info. i was wondering i will be coming in May
@@sexicolleen Me too, come to Lindberg Beach, I gotta chair and umbrella for ya!!!
@@jahjahcarr cool. i will be staying 10min from there Beach ⛱
Thanks for that. Will be there in a couple weeks!

Livin the dream.....Pepper's been to places other dogs only dream about...arf, arf.
We lived in Yacht Haven on the Noah's Ark and went to school above the West India Company dock at Antilles School. We used to go snorkling off the cliff for Biology class in 9th grade. No horrible big yachts then, but real sailboats and real sailors! from all over the world! So fun. Sometimes the crew ship captains would let us all go on the ships to explore on our way back home after school, if we promised to stick together and be good and not get in trouble.
My wife and I are all booked for early July to come to St. Thomas. I guess Google tracked my searches and you and your husbands videos popped up. You both run great content and we are so excited for our trip. Instantly a huge fan of you two.
We did our part toward your yacht! Two sets, blue and white. Love them!
You get the first invite on the boat then! (Thanks for the support 😃)
Even though it was expensive, the views were priceless. Thanks for sharing with us 😊
I was on st Thomas and st John on my first cruise in 2016 but my excision was champagne brunch snorkel in st John so i am enjoying experiencing st Thomas with you! Thank you Tim and Fin for showing what i missed.
After the Vietnam road trip you guys are like scooter pros. Awesome 👏 Pepper is so scooter savvy too.
Visited there in the 70's with my dad and brother. Stayed with locals just opposite of Charlotte Amalie Harbor, drank Malt Corona's because we were too young to drink. Love St. Thomas! Tutti-fruitti flowers you can eat, gennups, iguanas, Sea plane!
Yeah...Glad to see this guys...much fun !!!
Great channel guys.. I got inspired by you to do my Vietnam 🇻🇳 trip.. The most epic adventure ever..
Always love your tips!
Oh wow! This looks amazing! Hope to go here soon.
Thank you guys for visiting my island I am from St.Thomas and it’s really cool to see it on UA-cam
I live on St.Thomas too
My boyfriend and I spun out on that NW ridge highway which was only gravel then in 1962, no houses then, just cactus. and we were 15! My leg was badly burned on the exhaust and that was the end of going anywhere for a few days! Biggest blister you have ever seen, but all the surface nerves were burned, so no pain at all! So lucky!
Absolutely Wonderful 😍Love this Virgin Island 🏝
St Thomas imports everything so it's pretty expensive, but the stay and sightseeing is reasonable priced so that's a plus.
Another beautiful tropical country on our wishlist. Thanks for the video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love you guys video motorcycle trip from HCMC to Haiphong. Its a hell of a brave trip. I was born in Cang Tho but left the country with my parents and siblings on a fishing boat "boat people 1982" Came to Warrenton, Missouri on October 21 1982.
Thanks for checking out those videos. You've got to go back sometime if you can. We're hoping to go back in November this year.
We always get really excited to rent a scooter! The views are amazing!
What a BEAUTIFUL place to see. I hope to see it one day. And the Yacht's. I agree with Fin love, love, love them all.🤑😂
Thanks for sharing to us those beautiful places!!!
We may not be physically there but it gives us hope that one day we will be able to travel again.🤞
Yay thank you!
Im glad that this pandemic didn’t stop you from traveling and you continue to show us to those beautiful places...Stay safe y’all!!!
Talented to hold a phone, selfie stick and a dog on a scooter! I’m a US and a British citizen - should take my boat here and just bounce back & forth. I liked all of the views!
It’s so beautiful!
It's a really fantastic travel drama.
Have a happy day.
👍👍👍🤙🤙👌
Thanks for visiting my Island 🇻🇮 much love
Pepper on the scooter is hilarious! Awesome video and such a beautiful place to share. Thanks!
Thank you for watching and thank you so much for joining our Patreon and supporting this channel!
Great scooter skill on steep hill and no rain
That looks like a fun trip. I lived on Oahu for more than 20 years. What you quickly learn about living on an island is that most of the food and consumer goods are imported from somewhere else and this long distance shipping and all the different middlemen (food producer, wholesaler, factory processor, trucking company, ship or air transportation, longshoremen off-loading cargo at the port, truck delivery to the store) drive up the cost. And because rents and electric power for shops are also higher than on the mainland, this also drives up the cost of food and consumer goods. We quickly learned that if the food was not actually grown on the island or caught in the sea off shore of the island, it was going to be a lot more expensive than the same food sold on the mainland.
If I was staying in the U.S.V.I., I would buy fresh locally grown produce from farmers' markets and buy fresh seafood at the docks directly from the fishermen and prepare most of my meals myself. If I wanted to buy a prepared meal, I would go to one of the food trucks that sells mainly to the locals and choose one of the lower cost local dishes. A breakfast of ripe, locally grown mangoes, papayas and bananas -- the fruit purchased at the farmer's market -- will cost less than a bowl of boxed breakfast cereal and imported cow's milk. A lunch of a hamburger sandwich (imported beef, imported wheat flour for the bun) and French fries (imported potatoes, imported cooking oil) from a restaurant will probably a lot cost more that cooked sweet potato (locally grown), grilled fish fillet (locally caught that day) and cooked greens (locally grown) from a food truck. When you are staying on an island and have a tight budget, you save money by eating what the locals eat and you stay away from tourist restaurants and do not buy imported processed foods and imported meats from local grocery stores.
Good video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for bring us all on the journey. Will you be doing a video tour of St John too? Hope so!!
Absolutely! (Next Sunday)
Next time go for the Seaplane... it’s such a cool experience to take off and land in the water
2 things
1. Pepper is seriously the best and possibly cutest dog ever (aside from mine 😜)!
2. Fin, do you ever get asked if you're a model?
Great vid as always! But, roosters laying eggs? Sit down for a sec...
lol
We need a go fund me for science class
St Thomas looks incredibly beautiful! 😍 I really hope the answers is yes, you can go there on a budget. Guess we'll found out in the next few minutes 😄
Hit me, I live their PT, can hook everything up and have people on all three islands including BVI.
@@jahjahcarr I’m game! What’s the deal?
Gorgeous!
Pepper on the scooter is hilarious, well trained poochie.
Loved the video. We're going for our first time March 17th!! Going to use some of your info. I didn't see the accommodation names...can you provide!
I like the loose easy going feel of your video. Well done. Looks like fun. How common are scooter rentals on st Thomas?
Wow beautiful places 😍
They are!
OMG I'm so surprised you got around so well on a skoder. When I lived there I had a hard time with my car getting up to the North side. 🤭 Love your little dog. She looks just like my little Peaches, which was born on St Thomas 🥰 sadly she has past 😔
We go to st Thomas once a year..we actually just got back from a two week stay down there and miss it already...
The USVI are great! It was enjoyable to see and hear about them. At 04:06 the young fellow was eating while his wife was talking to him. I thought crunching on the apple was so rude of him (maybe he was upset about something); aside from that, he seemed like a nice guy. Overall, the video gave me a good feel for the islands. And, yes, food is expensive on St. Thomas! Indeed, those yachts are so amazing and same goes for the views-spectacular! Would love to move there.
Airbnb has grown exponentially and taxi drivers are mostly used to taking tourist to hotels. A lot of them do not know how to use navigation. So in time to come, they'll probably get better but for now, it is what it is. Renting a car is the best option of course..
Very enjoyable
Thank you for sharing
Welcome to the islands... we live here and love it. But you need to remember, everything is shipped here, that's why it cost so much.
Thanks for having us! and shoot.... we thought you had an underground bunker or something! ;)
I grew up here 😊 I love your videos btw 😊 some perspective if you think it’s expensive imagine the people who live and work there. The taxi guy probably also acted like that because the directions on island are something along the lines of “go over here by the blue house make a left then go up the hill and stop by the mango tree” 😂 sometimes when tourists ask to be taken somewhere they really have no idea where they’re going & address are questionable on island. As you can see the older folks don’t care to use a GPS and but overall great video 😊
Pepper is so cute! I’m planning a visit and taking my dog. Which beaches are dog friendly? I didn’t know they weren’t allowed on all beaches
epic. thanks.
Hey @TIMandFIN cool video..The Virgin Islands are one of my favorite places. I was just curious when you were talking about traveling there or if the video is the day that you were there because it seems like you went through a lot to have to travel from Miami to st. Croix then to St Thomas. I fly from Fort Lauderdale Airport to St Thomas Usvi directly for really cheap all the time thru spirit.Seems alot easier
But then you don’t get to spend 2 weeks on st Croix... 🤷♀️
Second Comment, Sailing Doodles might also be in the same general area maybe get Bobby to let you tour with them for a couple days!!!!
Thank You for sharing. I would like to know the budget it would need to live there on a little sail boat, after seeing you there I wish move me there from Italy on a very little sail yacht and stay there to enjoy the sunset St Thomas sea every day. This is my dream now. Thank You very much.
Your pup is so well behaved! Mine would be so annoying to everyone on a small plane.
Very nice
Lmao I love you guys but I loooove me some pepper!
Been there I love it
Hi guys! I'm a fairly new subscriber to your channel. My wife and I just booked a cruise for May 21st and one of the ports is St. Thomas and was wondering if you have any tips or cool spots on eating and enjoying a few drinks? I'm pretty sure that we are going to head to Magens Bay for a bit, but any input or ideas is appreciated. We love watching you guys! Give Pepper a squeeze for us! Much love from Fall River, Massachusetts! ❤️
Hey Leo! A lot of the intriguing bars/restaurants were limited but were def starting to open. Sorry we don't have any recommendations for you! I'm sure you're going to have a lot better time than us there- Pepper def held us back from a lot of the best beaches which you'll get to actually enjoy.
You can tell how acclimatized Pepper is to riding, staying on while going up that hill..... LOL
She's a trooper!
Her smile is everything. Such perfect teeth. ; )
Hey peeps. So I am making my first trip ever to Cancun in mid-February 2023. Going solo. Totally first trip out of the USA besides Canada! ;) Just as a comparison is Saint Thomas etc a lot quieter than Cancun? Fewer sun tanners etc?
St Thomas looks incredible!
This was great to watch! Thank you. My family an I are going the beginning of June. I can't wait to go.
I will be there the last weekend of August. Anybody else? Sólo trip.
Every time I’ve been there and every picture I’ve seen of the cruise dock there has been at least one cruise ship there. Hardly recognize it.
You can't go the corners stores to shop if you trying to save money, everything in there is double or triple the price compared to cost-u-less or pricemart
I was asking some people about scooter rental on Trip advisor forum and several people highly advised against it and said I was taking my life in my hands. I'm a pretty good rider but I think we may just use cabs. Unfortunately every single car rental company is completely booked. Going to call some local places when we get there so fingers crossed.
Woohoo!
how many miles did you guys travel in St thomas and how and where did you guys get the scooter on that island as i am very sure i might endup of non availability of rental cars.i am travelling for the July 4th long weekend. Any other means of transport in the city and which area to be look for hotels.
I hope there is a channel just dedicated to a really budget travel, Camping/sleeping in the car/street food/ bus transportation
Maybe you can dispel a myth.... St Thomas and St. Croix are both tourist locations but St John's is a residential Island. We were told you could only go there if you lived on the Island or had business on the Island. Suggestion: ware tennis shoes or carry them in case you have to walk.
St. John is also considered a tourist location. Just like the other islands, people do live there as well. People (locals as well as tourists) travel between the islands daily on "local transportation" what we call ferries; or they use the barge if they choose to use their personal vehicles or a rental to get around. So, to answer your question, St. John is just like St. Thomas or St. Croix. However, things are even more expensive there.... St. John is not a "private island." I'm local... Myth dispelled.
Eggs are reasonably priced and I heard “makes sense because there a lot of roosters running around” yes the infamous rooster eggs you speak of.
yep rooster eggs are my favorite! 🤣
in addition to DON'T BRING YOUR DOG, here's a tip from someone who lived on St John for 13 years... unless you're at the beach, WEAR A SHIRT AND A BATHING SUIT COVER UP OR SUN DRESS
At the 13:40 minute mark, what spot was that where y'all were getting drinks at?
Do you mind sharing where you stayed at in STT? Was it reasonable?
Nice very Nice
🔥
In 1989, I went there on my honeymoon, and a glass of orange juice at breakfast was $4.00 !! IN 1989 !!
There are roosters everywhere!
Lol
Aaaah , Iam so jealous, lol😍😍😍😍😍😂😂😂. I bet you need a visa too.
Nope. Just driver license its u.s. territory if coming from usa
only need a passport if you planning to go to British territory
Well..... it's quiet because of Covid. This is not the norm for STT. 🤷🏾♀️ It's always fun and busy.
Does the Verizon network work in the Virgin Islands?
You do realize that roosters don't lay eggs! :)
But after a while, there wouldn't be any chickens left to lay those eggs if roosters weren't there! :)
Nice
VERSA on St John???? have fun!
Take the sea plane from STT to STX way way cooler!
They were in stcroix..you gotta see those fabulous videos..2 of them.. subscribe to Tim and fin to see those cool vids too
I’m from there!!!
You need a puppy backpack. 😊
Google maps doesn't really work in St Thomas, nor does a cars GPS work. Too many street that don't come up. Try Waze, it works much better. Cheapest food prices on St Thomas are at Pueblo Supermarket by Frenchtown near the airport. Pueblo near Havensight Mall is more expensive. Cheapest alcohol is also Pueblo by the airport and K Mart.
Cant believe the food in the stores was so high. Wow.
I believe they went to a convenience store not a grocery store. Even though the prices are high in St. Thomas, they are not that high in the grocery store.
@@moniqueblake1155 oh ok. That's good to know.
3:09 Pepper- "Where the hell are they taking me now"
We have this conversation every time we get in the car with her: “I wonder if we’re going to Mexico?” 🐶
May I ask how can one immigrate to Virgin Island and engage work and earn his livings please?
Walking with the helmet on 😂 #bearaware
bahahha absolutely 😂
Service dogs are allowed on beaches
You have the whole area by yourselves..no mask needed and big time social distancing...Lol!!!
Poor dog lugging him everywhere!
this beach is dream beach
Did you your phone wrk there? Or did you have to purchase another 1?
We use ATT prepaid and our phones worked fine there!
No dogs on any beach
VI LAW
MAYBE some w 6’ leash
Try to find one may be difficult
We found them.
A luvable pooch like pepper is legal enough!
