HUNTSVILLE Ontario Canada Travel vlog 4K
Huntsville is the largest town in the Muskoka Region of Ontario, Canada. It is located 215 kilometres (134 mi) north of Toronto. The first European who settled in the area in 1869 was George Hunt, who built a small agricultural centre there. In 1870, a post office was built and the area was named Huntsville after Hunt.

Thanks for this long overdue documentation of Huntsville. I’m surprised no one else has bothered to do such a thorough capture of the town. God bless.

There’s more to Huntsville then just Main Street!! - coming from a local.
    - Hunter’s Bay Trail
    - Lion’s Lookout
    - Beer Lake
    - ALOT of parks
    - Hidden Valley (Ski hill)
    - Canada Summit Centre (Snoop Dog preformed there, so did Chris Hadfield). Has a swimming pool and two rinks.
    - Conroy Park (Turf field and tennis courts)
    - One high school
    - 5 Elementary schools
    - The Huntsville Place Mall
    - 3 Golf Courses
    - ALOT of resorts (including Deerhurst where the G8 was held)
    The list goes on.

Yeah I forgot about snoop dog preforming here 😂 pretty crazy bc this town is not that popular and I never would’ve thought somebody that popular would come here lol

I use to go to Huntsville when I was a kid. All my relatives lived there so I would go visit. I have a few cousins left up there but just enjoyed your video so much. A lot of changes but filled my heart again with the good old days. Thanks for sharing.

My family has been in huntsville since the 60's. Own lots of land. The last 10yrs have been insane for expansion. Prices soaring. Those with money continue to buy up land and cottage. Downtown is all high end cars now. People are not invested in the community all that much anymore. They just want to vacation and cottage for the week or weekend and head back south. Nothing wrong with that but garbage and litter have increased and the small town feel is very quickly fading into a city. Kind of sad its losing its charm a bit

I noticed the word "gelato" several times. Do Canadians like gelato style ice cream? I'm asking because I never understood why US Americans seemingly don't.
American style ice cream (like Ben&Jerries or Hagen Dasz) to me seems like a objectively inferior product, compared to real gelato. Yet, gelato never became much of a thing in the USA, despite the large Italian origin community living there.
Frankly, to me American style ice cream tastes like sugary frozen deep fryer lard. There is just no comparison to a nice gelato sundae.

Muskoka is one of those places that looks beautiful, but is a nightmare to live in. There's no public transportation, its hard to make friends, and the entire economy revolves around snobby millionaires that come north from Toronto for the summer.

This is pretty cool if you didn't know this but my family from generations way back were all hunters, and George Hunt the founder of Huntsville as ties in with my family tree dating back to 1859 when him and my family first started settling into Huntsville with my family being ship sailers and boat operators built the first buildings in Huntsville also where Boston pizza is now, use to be the old Lumber Mill my family leased the land to the owners of the building. My family constructed some of the first set of houses people were living in making the Seaman name (my mothers side) the oldest generation family to build the economy of Huntsville, But most of what we did was destroyed due to un recorded events and lost documents from building fires and now lost documented certifications to the land we owned but sold. also my uncle and my cousin built all the docks in town while working with the company Ny Docks as well as the green bridge use to be a huge opening bridge for my family's boats to come to the lumber mill, towing logs through the streams with large sails. Now only small motor boats and speed boats drive under the bridge and sadly now the bridge no longer opens.

I was thinking about moving near Huntsville, buying a few acres to set up a homestead and escape the craziness of southwestern ontario. The social distancing during the past 2 years, the LGBT stuff. But there it is in the first 30 seconds of the video. Guess I have to keep looking further north.

Yeah I’m sure it was the people of colour that put time and money into developing the town rather than the greedy, old and white racists that refused to invest anything into things like downtown shops, roads, the main plazas that ruined the town.
