    Looks promising on paper, thank you Steven! I'd suggest another rule to apply when considering a deal: don't enter if the projected P/L ratio is less than 2:1. This may improve statistical probability.

      One important thing to understand is that a strategy not only includes entry points but also targets and stop loss, so if you had an entry point and then the market conditions change you will take a stop loss that is within the strategy. if the trend continues you apply the exit points and that too is within the strategy.

    Hi, how can I incorporate the band settings on MT4?

    • @tomiskind
      @tomiskind 4 роки тому

      Have not looked at mt4 in awhile but if it allows you to enter your own input instead of list choices on number of devs (standard set 2) you can just type in 0.362. It gives you narrow bands around the basis or a fat basis line (thickness depending on dev setting). I realize long time since your question but this might help someone if MT4 will work that way.

    • @harrisclive77

      Hi, I use MT4. I use these settings. Go to indicators, then trend, then bollinger bands, in the deviation box just delete the settings that are there and input 0.382. job done. hope that helps

    Interesing concept, I have questions:
    1. Is there any rule to move the stop loss from the initial spot?
    2. What is when you are le'ts say in the situation whene there were already 5 closes above the bb? You wait for the signal change? It's worth to mention that my trading TF is D1.

      Hello,
      1. To answer this question there is the Money Management Course but meanwhile you can watch a taste of it here: www.protraderstrategies.com/2017/03/30/steven-primos-five-exit-strategies-that-will-change-the-way-you-trade-march/
      2. Can you tell us the minute on the video to address this question with precision.
      Thanks..

    • @rafakoscinski5319
      @rafakoscinski5319 7 років тому

      At first thanks for responding to my message. Regarding point 1 I will checkout the video under the provided link. Regarding point number 2. There isn't any point in time in this video. This is what came to my mind. There is not any answer to that in the video, if it was I would not ask it. Let's assume the siutation for example: We are opening a trading platform whatever it is. You have all the indicators ther like the tweaked (so to speak) bolinger bands. You look at any market. Let's say that you se that it's trading above the bb. You count the candles and there were already toe five signal ones. In short there are 8 candles and one of them just broke out the 5 candle pattern. The question is what do you do next? You wait for the next five, after the one that broke out of the pattern? Or you maybe wait for the whole market to turn aroung under the bb bands.

    hi,
    earlier bollinger band stratergie #3A, we have 50 SMA marked. But in this video we don't have 50 SMA. could you confirm whether we have to mark 50 SMA or only bollinger band.

    • @ProTraderStrategies
      @ProTraderStrategies  9 років тому

      +MOHMAED ASHRAF To answer your questions, the conservative or basic version of #3A calls for all 5 bars to be above both the 50 sma and the highest BB (reverse for sells). But the more aggressive version (in today's webinar) only calls for all 5 bars to be above the highest BB. In fact we don't even plot the 50 sma.

    @ 23.11 time, even though we got 5 consecutive bar and a short term pivot high, the next bar touched the lower BB, shouldn't this negate the trend? Not sure what was the logic to enter the trade on that 211.06 & placed STOP at short term pivot low.
    Can someone explain, please.

    • @ProTraderStrategies
      @ProTraderStrategies  8 років тому

      The bar you are talking about touched the lower BB but did not close below it thus allowing the trade to continue to be valid. About your second comment not sure what do you mean. But in any case once the rules have been met you enter the trade at the price above the short term high and then place the stop below the lowest low. Hope this helps clear up the strategy.

    Steve, What happens in these cases;1. if we don't get a short term pivot high after establishing five candles above the high bb and the stock is moving higher each day. 2. Short term pivot high was established between the first three candles but the forth and fifth are higher than the pivot high.

    • @ProTraderStrategies
      @ProTraderStrategies  6 років тому +1

      Hello, in the case on 1. you could take the latest high as the point of reference. This is an advanced technique because in a way you will be chasing the stock, so be mindful of how much the stock has gone up. 2. In this case the pivot high is not in the first three bars because we are looking for a pivot high formed during the last 5, so the highest bar could be the 4th or 5th which will put you in the same situation as number 1.

    +Pro Trader Strategies, If all signals for buy position are confirmed as detailed, and a buy position is taken, In case where price touches the bb and closes below any of the line, this is assumed to occur before the 200% movement. do we close the trade or leave it

    • @ProTraderStrategies
      @ProTraderStrategies  8 років тому +2

      +gabriel olayiwola To answer the question, the price bars are only required to stay above or close above the bollinger bands in order to establish an entry set-up. Once we are in the trade, the relationship between price and the BB indicator is not that much of a concern to us. We would always suggest to protect profits by moving one’s stop to unchanged as price travels closer to the exit level. And it is our policy to ALWAYS paper trade the method before applying actual funds to the market.

    • @ProTraderStrategies
      @ProTraderStrategies  4 роки тому

      Rule of thumb, stick to one time frame. The circumstance you mention is common on strong trends, the bigger time frame is the one that rules, so instead of trading counter trend, wait for pullbacks to trade in the direction of the bigger trend. Strategy #4 will help you with this concept.

      At minute 15 the description seems to be a 5 bar pattern, but the example at minute 25 shows a three bar pattern. I’ve also seen other explanations of this strategy that say it could be a 3 or 5 bar “inverted V” shaped pattern.

    • @ProTraderStrategies
      @ProTraderStrategies  6 років тому

      Just off of past observance I would say yes, a 5 bar short term pivot high has generated more bars and therefore more resistance than a 3 bar. It stands to reason simply because there is more activity at that level. But having said that, this is just my personal opinion and there are no stats to justify this. Therefore when trading this technique, I will take trades based off both 3 and 5 bar pivots...it makes no difference to me as I have found both to be highly consistent when applied this way.
      Have a great day,
      Steven

      +Yasser El-Prince Short Selling is a financial term that refers to selling a stock or futures because the expectation of the market is to the downside. You sell the stock first and then buy it if the expectation proved to be correct.

      @@ProTraderStrategies in your example you buy high and then you sell at the lower price. I think there is no gain on that.

      Hi, thank you for the answer ! I will do that but is there any other thing i can use to spot the winning trades from the losing? I'm really having a hard time with this. If you can't answer that, i understand and thank you, if you can answer, thank you again. Cheers !

      The 50 Moving Average, make sure your pair is trending either up or down, you can easy see this with the MA trending up or down, buy in pullbacks within the trend. Last maybe you want to come to a live online webinar and as that question to Steven!.. Next webinar is on Wednesday 1 pm est tf141.isrefer.com/go/TradingTechniques/twitter/

    Hi! I enjoy watching your educational video. I’m learning something here. I have a question, what if you have wicks that penetrate all bands and the 20ema/sma line downward BUT the CANDLE closed above the upper band? Than you.

    Thank you very much Steven, great job!
    Quick question... do the Bollinger Bands have to be completely above the 50 SMA to go long and below the 50 SMA to go short?
    Thank you very much in advance and keep up the great work!

      For Strategy #3A, the BB do not need to be above the 50 MA but the entry price should.

      When markets are choppy, it is better to stay out of them until the trend has been defined, and remember as CNBC'S Jim Cramer says...There is always a bull market somewhere...
