If you've seen in on Tom and Jerry or Looney Toons, it's fair game. This explains why Luffy could do pretty much whatever he imagined in his gears previous.
They explain it quite well how his powers work..... if he can imagine it, he can do it. simple as that.
It's imagination. His power reflects who luffy is, if someone else managed to awaken the fruit it won't necessarily come out the same. They show this by how everyone in the area is basically in a toon reality. Kaido being effected by it is to show just how powerful Luffy is at that point. his previous abilities also make sense now e.g., organ and the fact that Gear 3 somehow has the physics of something that big, not only Lucci but Flamingo comment on it during the fight because it doesn't make sense.
Oda pretty much explained in an SBS that Luffy's awakening is inspired from Tom & Jerry. So yeah it's technically toon force.

When I thought about it Zoan types typically transforms in order to show their power, but sometimes they do constantly embody the animal they have like Chopper. Chopper most of the time look like a human kid, so Luffy looks like he has Paramecia cuz he's constantly rubber. The Zoan transformation is actually the Gears, but he cant transform fully at first. So G2 would be heart transformation where his Heart pumps blood really fast, G3 would be bones transformation where he can inflate his bones, G4 would be muscle transformation where he enhances his muscles, and lastly G5 would be the total transformation in to a full Zoan animal, in his case human mythical zoan: Nika.

Whats so hard to understand his body is made of rubber before his awakening he only had the power to turn his body into rubber now that hes awakened he has the power to turn everything into rubber meaning hes only limited to his imagination or understanding of what rubber is.As far as rhat toon look goes its to help everyone understand jusr how powerful luffy is and how the effects of it looks to everyone

People say it was Cartoonish and Goofy..It was Goofy But in a Good Way. I LOVED IT. Probably my favourite Fight In anime and the best transformation. Also this was only the Set up for Main battle that will happen in next episode. I Just Have 1 Disappointed.. FLASHBACKS🗑️

I think my favorite moment is when Luffy sends that blast breath back at Kaido and we see Kaido been charred black and then he exhales black smoke, like from old cartoons. Makes me laugh every time. And Luffy clapping his feet. I was hoping for the William Hanna Tom-scream though. Maybe next episode when Kaido starts doing some damage back.

Luffy's power is called Toon force, same stuff as looney tunes and tom & jerry with the sound effects and abilities. Basically he can do what he imagines with limits but you'll see! Love the reactions keep it up

It was an incredible episode. Even though I’m not caught up to yet in terms of where I am in the series, I wanted to see this anyway since it’s probably the most anticipated moment in the whole series. It’s honestly the most anticipated transformation in anime I’ve ever had and the anime did an absolutely perfect job bringing it to life. Animated was really the only way this could be done right since we get to see Luffy’s silly and insane Loony Tunes physics in action and it was amazing and everything in it should explain why One Piece is one of the most amazing pieces of fiction ever created. The power pretty much encompasses everything that makes Luffy who he is and this moment deserves to be up there with Goku attaining Ultra Instinct in regards to things that crashed the internet. I’m also so happy that this is maybe Luffy’s strongest transformation because I’m extremely excited for this to eventually get a Banpresto figure so I can get it. I would love if Naruto’s Baryon form got a figure like this too so I could have that, Gear 5 Luffy and Ultra Instinct Goku together. I already have Gear 4 Luffy and Sage Of Six Paths Naruto with Ultra Instinct Goku since they were their most powerful transformations at the time, but now they’ve gotten more powerful forms so it would be great to get them and have the three of them together as my three favourite anime protagonists and characters ever. Anyway, I’m very excited for more Gear 5 Luffy animated and I’m even more excited for the English dub to catch up to it and see what it looks like and getting to that point in my actual watch through will be an amazing anime experience I’d never forget.

The translation they used in the anime is wrong.Essentially in the manga they say only limited by his imagination.Thats why everything he touches doesnt just turn to rubber it turns goofy cause thats how luffy imagines it to be. Remember the stigma of Children having wild imaginations.Or even dreaming alot as a child and then when you grow up it lessens.But for luffy he has a child mind so the power is perfect for him and ONLY him , he is truly, a 'JOYBOY' .Only somebody with limitless imagination could use this ridiculous fruit. btw luffy vs kaido is was inspired by tom and jerry thats why kaido is blue.ODA said this in an interview before.He also said he loves olds school cartoons like rubber house animation -
Rubberhose Animation- A technique used by animators used to animate old cartoons which allowed them to not only flex their creativity but also perform feats only available in animation, shapeshifting, weapons out of thin air, catching bullets with their mouth and spitting them back etc. It was called Rubberhose because it almost felt as if the characters had not a single bone in their body and did as they pleased as though they were made of rubber, able to stretch and balloon to their hearts desire and chaotic effect.
Cartoons bring unadulterated joy, think back to when you watched one for the first time. Grinning.
Likewise, Nika no Mi allows the user who is fully rubberized to do as they pleased and the only limits were animation... er i mean imagination.

Fun fact if you didn't know already, in the beginning of the anime when Luffy ate the Fruit, Shanks knew what happened and told Luffy it was a gum gum fruit instantly and not a OP imagination fruit becase that's kinda the route you have to take to perfect the full fruits abilities. Think about it, Luffy has made all these OP ass attacks throughout his hardships in battle while being nerfed to obvlivion because of what he thinks the limits of his powers are. When he was at his max while being nerfed, activating Gear 5 just basically uncapped his strength and uncapped his imagionational boundaries. It's so cool
