Loved the “My voice cuts deep like I’m rubbing on a double bass” line (Godzilla’s iconic roar was created by rubbing a leather glove coated in pine resin against a double bass.).
This is why I love UA-cam comments. That line was good, but knowing the story behind it makes it slap.

edit: just noticed kong's "ass-brain" line. great reference to the heisei films. (in 1993 mechagodzilla took down godzilla by taking down a second brain he had in his hips. he had this because decades ago, stegosaurus (one of the dinosaurs godzilla was originally based on) was thought to have a second brain in it's hips because the brain in the skull was absolutely tiny).
Honestly,.it's so trippy seeing an ERB song made entirely on CGI, was legit expecting Peter and Lloyd in suits like they did with the TMNT lol

The 'Lizzie' part. Is a reference to the Rampage series. Where 'Godzilla' is actually a woman who can transform into the monster. I think they called the 'King Kong' character George in that series. A man that can transform into Kong. Later, they made a giant Werewolf character in the series too. His name was Ralph.
Aren't thet mutated animals? I saw the movie "Rampage" and Lizzie, Ralph and George were mutated animals, not people that could turn into monsters.

It's also a play off of King Kongs O² line, he talks about oxygen and then godzilla rebukes with Iron and Thor(ium), just a little kind of playoff of Kong which is just clever writing, the double and triple entendres in this battle is crazy!

Someone on the ERB team must be a diehard kaiju fan because there were some deep cut references in those lyrics. Godzilla's line about rabbit fur? The Kong model used for the stop motion effects in the original 1933 film was coated in it.
Or how part of Godzilla's iconic cry was made by rubbing the strings of a double bass with a glove covered in pine resin.

They're not just throwing words together, they always do their research.
The ERB team generally has some very in depth commentary, I'm sure they do a ton of research.
The Pompei line from Godzilla is a reference to Rage across time, where he literally causes the event.
You can tell they had a lot of fun with the history of the characters.

I’ve been following this series since Bieber Vs Beethoven back in 2011, Peter and Lloyd are iconic early UA-cam legends and they always will be. My favorite thing about these videos is their ability to make me interested in character/real figures I knew little about or hardly cared about at all beforehand, via the magic of words and sick beats. Tons of fans have created their own inspired rap battle videos over the years, some have impressed me surely, but in my opinion there is no candle to be held against ERB’s heartfelt works of art. 88 down now, hope they make it to at least 100, regardless of when they hang up the mics for good, I’ve enjoyed nearly every lyrical spar they’ve given us.

My dad and I are huge Godzilla/Kong fans. My dad showed me ERB back in 2011. So seeing this is essentially full circle 😂.

When Donkey Kong first came out in the early 1980's, we all thought the Japanese creators had just made a mistake, and that they meant "Monkey Kong" without realizing that gorillas are not monkeys. Turns out it was likely more linguistically interesting than that. A theory is that they took "King Kong" to mean a "Kong" that is supreme, superior, foremost, prime, etc. So what's the opposite? A "Kong" that is a jerk, dunce, fool, idiot, imbecile, or... a jackass. Somehow the Japanese word equivalent to "jackass" was translated to "donkey" and the rest is history.

@@JoEbY-X "Donkey" _is_ an English synonym for "fool", just not a very common one. Myamoto, being Japanese, obviously had no point of reference for how often it is used. He saw it listed in the dictionary among other synonyms for "fool" and had no reason to believe it would confuse people.

I can’t believe no one pointed out the double meaning behind the Donkey Kong joke, so I’m going to do it myself. So on top of Godzilla calling King Kong an ass, Nintendo literally made an ass of King Kong and Universal in 1983 because Universal lost a lawsuit with Nintendo over Donkey Kong, which actually ended up putting King Kong into the Public Domain. So not only is it a reference to how Donkey is another term for ass, but it’s also referencing how Universal lost a Lawsuit to Nintendo in 1983. Easily one of the coolest references I’ve seen in a rap battle to date. Actual peak!
Well King Kong being public domain is actually a bit shaky. Basically, before the 1933 movie, there was a novel written of the movie a year prior, 1932. That novel is now in public domain simply cause… no one bothered to renew it. So you can teeeeechnically use King Kong through the novel… but it’s still extremely risky and shaky
However, in 2029 it will get easier, cause then the 1933 movie will enter public domain too
