daniel brockman yea
This makes me wicked sad. As much as I didnt go out of my way to ride Twister, it's still sad that they are closing all the original rides.
+kayleighkill But Twister wasn't an Original ride, Ghostbusters use to be there until 1997 when Twister arrived.. But yes still sad to see it go, I hope JImmy is good ride, otherwise it will be huge bummer for it to be replaced.
Aie Dail Ghostbusters closed when I was still living in California! By the time I moved here to Florida, Twister was already there, so its almost like it was the only ride I've ever known there. :)
+Roman Speaks Jimmy is in NBC Universal. If you get my point
Roman Speaks everybody brings hype to something about something about to close
Kayleigh Kill yah like jaws
Man I remember going on that ride. I was in 6th grade and I was awestruck on how well it was made. Given I never saw the movie it made me want to see it so badly, but funny thing happened when I came back home from the field trip and my mom picked me up from school she had the movie on VHS at home if I wanted to see it during the weekend and I was like " mom I just experienced that movie of course I'm going to watch it" man that was one of my best childhood experiences ever.
😂
First Back to the Future then Jaws and Twister. I'm so sad.
dollofvoodoo and King Kong
dollofvoodoo jaws was worth it we got Harry Potter
And jimmy neutrons nicktoon blast
Nooooooooo not jaws!
Ikr, are they going to remove Simpsons or Men In Black next? I mean seriously. All they keep doing is adding simulator rides with the same track style or cart style as prior ones (Transformers near same as spider man, harry potter grigotts less exciting Mummy, etc.). Also it's not like they don't have the room with the huge unused area of old nickelodeon studios. Let's just hope they don't try to "revamp" Mummy to that "mission impossible versus the enchantress" bs there releasing. After Fast And The Furious they need to not remove anything, and get a RMC coaster (it'd be the first in florida and honestly they could use a new coaster, grigotts is more of a track ride and when even was the prior).
The fact that there aren't any Twister Easter eggs on the Jimmy Fallon ride, like all the TV monitors turning into a tornado warning or something is really depressing.
BetweenTheLyons there’s an Easter egg hidden from public view on the back of the building, the delivery shutters are themed with the text “warning: *twister* inside” on the front
The blue shirt Paxton wore in the preshow videos is seen in one of the windows out front, hanging on a hook.
There actually are. Outside in two of the windows. The first one has Bill Paxton's blue shirt. The second has a Calendar that says "Twister Cola."
My grandpa helped with the construction on the town
Nathan sick my dude
that sucks
krebs's fish how old r u?
has your grandpa passed away?
krebs's fish sorry for your loss. do u know how old he was when he passed away?
Even if I was TERRIFIED when I went on this, I will always miss the flying cow that got caught up in the twister 😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️😭
Nicole AJ
Yeah🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The overwhelming amount of love for Twister in the makes me happy.
This is why I appreciate what you guys do! For 1, living out of town I get to relive exciting trips that I have been on. 2) Being that this ride no longer exists, I can go back and relive. 3) Always get to see Bill Paxton (rip). Thank you for your videos and all you do!!
Bill Paxton, you were an amazing actor who brought incredible skill and presence to every project you were in. You were the whole package and just gave all of yourself every time. Thank you for your amazing body of work, and for making the 1990's so memorable for me with films like Twister. You will be forever missed. 💔💔💔💔💔
I remember this ride was supposed to open in early 1998, but due to actual tornadoes ripping through central Florida and killing some people the ride opening was delayed by a few months. Irony at it's unfortunate best. Thank you for posting this, it was an interesting experience. Can't believe it was there 17 years!!
Twister scared me so bad as a kid. But still, sad to see it go. Next Halloween, be Bill Paxton and talk like him the whole night ;)
Samantha Anderson and so is this loud noise at 13:38!!! That scared the crap out of me!!! XD
This was the ride that inspired me to study tornados as a kid
This was the first attraction I ever went on in universal. I had to be like 10 (2000)It was definitely memorable I enjoyed it very much!
They need to keep creating rides that have live action. I miss Jaws and Twister. Terminator will be next and it will be sad to see go aswell.
You're right. Terminator is gone. Another mistake Universal made.
EVERY BODY GATHER AROUND, WE MUST PROTECT THE ONLY SOUL OF UNIVERSAL LEFT, The good old E.T, so who is with me!!!
TheYellowMonkey actually, Jurassic Park, E.T, and all of Seuss Land are all that's left of the original parks. We gotta protect those
TheYellowMonkey im here too 🔫🏹⛏🔪🗡🛠🔧🔩🔗🔨💉💊🛢🛡
TheDinoSir Technically E.T is the only original ride since Jurassic Park and Seuss Landing are in IOA which opened after Universal.
E.T. is in the far back corner of the park - probably works for and against it because it's not an ideal lot for a new ride but at the same time people probably don't go to it enough to appreciate how awesome it is
Ill be catching it monday next week... long live ET
I can't believe it's gone. I've only had the pleasure to ride twice when I was about 11. Being as I live in New York, I don't get to Florida often. So now I will never get to ride it again. It was my favorite.
They closed this for Jimmy Fallon... what is wrong with them?
Big mistake. Jimmy Fallon isn't a movie!
RIP Bill Paxton.
Really sad watching this after Bill Paxton's death. Wish they would've kept the ride.
Abigail Cunningham they took this out before his death
I saw some people saying 3D was both cheaper and more immersive. I don't know about them, but I grew up with rides where the only 3D was in very few theaters and motion simulators and most everything else involved realistic props and animatronics. Let me tell you something. I have grown up sampling both types of rides and though 3D motion simulators ARE fun, they just can't replace the feeling of realism you get when you see the actual thing physically in front of you instead of just on a screen. This is why even though I hate Goblins, I find Gringotts very impressive in the waiting queue. There are the actual creepy little creatures right in front of you, writing or counting at their desks. You could touch them if there weren't any rules of theme park etiquette. ACTUALLY TOUCH them. But 3D is just an illusion on a screen that isn't really there in front of you. I think it takes away the realism. I find ride with real audio animatronics to be way more intriguing and amusing.
+Sierra Spencer im kind of surprised nobody has done hybrids. imo the lines for the Harry Potter rides are considerably better than the rides themselves. Spiderman was great when it opened, but now everything is just a copy of that.
Congrats on 90,900!!! so close to 100,000! yay
"Bill and I play as scientists"
me: BILL NYE THE SCIENCE GUY
Wow! This was the first thing I went on and I didn't realise it had closed!
The floor dropping at the end always had me shook
it was actually pretty hard for me to watch this, would be hard for me to even go to this. why? ive been through a few tornadoes, just kinda triggers anxiety. i know, im a wuss. loved how they got all the little details added to this attraction.
harley mama Same here. I lived in Georgia for a little while, and we had 3 tornadoes. I mean, they didn't hit us directly, but they still happened. Oh, and also 2 hurricanes.
Trauma is real! Never apologize for things you didn’t cause and can’t control.
you're not a wuss!! it's understandable, don't worry 💗
Typical. Another classic attraction closed in favor of adding yet another super shitty simulator. SMFH
Dreaklock Technically this ride was a simulation of a twister
It's a lot better than staring at a screen. This whole ride, from the queue to the actual in -rid effects were really cool. It's a damn travesty they got rid of it.
Hey. The Jimmy Fallon ride was good. It was the last time I went to Universal...
Hayden Wyrick no it wasnt it was boring
Hayden Wyrick nah, it had no affects
Thank you, Twister: Ride it Out! (1998 - 2015)
Awww I haven't been since I was 8 but twister was one of the most memorable experiences so sad
Just glad I got to see the old rides before they were gone. Thanks for the smiles!
RIP BILL PAXTON
LOVE HIS MOVIES
ESPECIALLY THIS ONE💖
This ride looked like fun! Sad I never got to experience it. And lmao at the cow and the cheering! 🤣
This is one of my all-time favorite attractions at Universal, I'm sad to see it go, but I'm really glad I got to experience it. I REALLY wish it stayed for one more year in time for my graduation trip. That was an amazing time.
I'm all for change and growth. This ride will be a piece of my childhood I'll never forget.
Thank you for recording this! So cool to have this memory of something that was awesome but Is no longer there!
RIP bill Paxton, gone but never forgotten you will be dearly loved and missed by all who knew you fans, friends and loved ones may God bless, keep you safe till we meet again
I'm so happy my husband and I got to ride it before it closed. We rode Twister back in May on our honeymoon and we did the tour as well. I still go the buttons when got after the tour. Thank you Tim and Jenn for talking about the tour after Twister in one of the your videos!
Thanks for posting this. I rode it 18 years ago and sadly we didn't get pictures or video because you really just didn't much back then. I loved that ride and so glad I can see a video. It's sad they closed it down.
Honestly, this thrill attraction had SO MUCH potential. Can you imagine if Epcot tried something better, where the studio did something along the lines of using controlled high wind speeds, probably within the 100-160mph range, which would simulate winds of an EF 1 - 3? Just imagine how educational the experience could be if they explained how tornadoes really work and act in real life scenarios. Especially after the world has experienced something that not even Hollywood could think of: The El Reno tornado of 2013...a freak tornado over 2 miles wide, largest ever recorded.
I was there for El Riño. 2.6 mile wide beast with winds over 300mph. That tornado scared me. Haunts me to this day.
Maysville Oklahoma and Paul’s valley is where they filmed most of it
1:38 I SEE A DIPPER HAT
Wait, that was it? I know it was an old ride and all, but I was just actually getting scared and then... it... was over, it was kinda anti-climatic for me lol
I'm glad to have had the honor to ride Twister in the summer of 2015. One helluva ride.
I remember going to see Twister and it scared me as I was quite young when I saw it, sad that it is closing down, maybe they will build another in the future somewhere else...who knows?
Poppy flash they built a Jimmy Fallon ride twister been gone since 2015
The fact that all the good and old rides are closing is just so sad
+Stefy Batres If a ride is not popular, a theme park has no other choice but to close it down. I've been going to Universal for years and I never saw Twister with over a 10 minute wait time. Most people literally walked right past it. So yeah it was definitely time for it to go.
Stefy 45213 i feel your pain
it's sad seen this video reminds me of all the good times I had riding this beautiful ride
Can't believe you guys where behind me in line at Twister the entire time and I didn't notice Tim until we where crowded into the grey room. "People are cheering for Bill Paxton." Yea that was my coworkers from Forbidden Journey and I chanting his name every time lol
HA! So, apparently, this is nobody's first time on this attraction as there are so many shouts and cheers. Lol! Meanwhile, here I sit almost two years after you recorded this video, watching wide-eyed, with my mouth hanging open between sips of tea, wishing I had had the opportunity to enjoy this attraction while it was in the park. (I've probably seen the movie about 11 times; definitely a classic!) Great footage and thanks so much for sharing it!
I'll miss twister so much! I loved it! I loved it because it was a VERY VERY nice cool off spot when the twister happens in the hot Florida heat & i also loved standing in the back because the high up spots kinda drop an a bit. I will miss you twister I'm so sad I didn't get to see you one last time.
Thanks Tim and Jenn for posting this. I got to ride Twister one last time last March however I'm glad you videotaped it so that others can experience it as well. I'll be interested to see the construction going on next week when I'm in Orlando. Have a fantastic Tuesday!
I loved Twister.. it was one of my favorites at Universal. :(
Early 1998 and I saw twister being advertised as coming soon, gutted we wouldn't get chance to ride coming from England.
However from what I recall it was a Saturday evening and there was a Mardi Gras festival at universal. We rode kongfrontation but it broke down on us, the crew gave us line passes for any ride we chose, we came across twister and saw they were previewing the ride! Couldn't contain my excitement, loved the effects so glad I got chance to experience it as I haven't been back since.
No offense, but I kind of understand why they got rid of this ride. It was probably much cooler back in the day. But the videos that they showed hyped up the actual ride (if you can call it that) too much. I expected some type of ride that you can sit in and I thought you were going to travel through the town or the "twister". I think that would have been cooler.
kenicke579 I wish you could see the aftermath of one. That'd be cool.
The one thing was, The ride was delayed due to major problems, My uncle was lucky enough to ride the ride while it was not open to the public, And he keeps telling me the flames were hotter and higher, The twister was more brutal. And it was longer.
Interesting how EF5s aren’t once-in-a-lifetime occurrences anymore.
They never were.
@@JCBro-yg8vd Yeah, that was some bullshit the movie threw out in order to make it feel more weighty. Of course, with the new Enhanced Fujita scale, it's a LOT harder for a tornado to be rated an EF-5. Even El-Reno was reduced to an EF-3, despite clear readings that placed it well in the EF-5 category.
Thanks for showing this. The last time I was at USF was February 1995 so I never even got to experience it myself. I did go to Islands of Adventure in December 2000 and July 2004. Hopefully I can go back again someday.
What a classic. Oh the memories.
The iconic cow floating across will hold a special place in my memory! Thanks for taking us on your last time through :)
I love that at 13:35 everyone knows that the floor drops yet everyone still gets scared by it, I'm really gonna miss the drop and the cow on a string, even if the ride terrified me when I was younger lol
I went on this when I was about 7 so in 2000 with my father. I remember it making me cry so much. I don't have any pictures of that day so all I had are my memories. It's wierd that I stumbled across this video and seeing it now that I'm 23 gives me chills.
First ride I've ever been on at Universal when I was just a kid, and last rode it last year in June. So sad it's been taken down but so happy to have been able to ride it every year I went
The Twister ride/show was great, it's such a good time.
I rode this ride when I was young and I cried the whole time😂😂
When you realize your in love with Bill Paxton's son James Paxton who plays Lukas Waldenbeck in Eyewitness 😍👏🏻
My son has always wanted to go on this ride, but we didn't get the chance to go to Universal in time. Thank you for vlogging your experience,we get to see the cow fly by one last time :)
I can see one of the Bill Paxtons wearing a Dipper Pines hat at 0:47. XD That's awsome! :)
Was lucky enough to do this!! Was amazing!
Oh my, I have been on that ride 5 months before closing, first time in Orlando ever :D
Glad i still got to ride this one
13:10 here comes Mia the flying cow!
This ride scared the life out of me as a child. I love how everyone was cheering and screaming lol
All of the original rides were my favorite growing up
I remember when this opened. Gonna miss this. Love the the line thru the house.
when you hear the sirens in real life, Its not fun it is scary!I live in Oklahoma, city out of Moore.
I know how you feel I grew up in ponca and have lived all over Oklahoma my entire life hearing those sirens all the okie storm watching jokes go out the window
Its so hard for me to watch these vids, i wna be back :'(
Just watched Twisters in theater and had to watch this video afterwards in honor of the OG!
Hey Tim and Jen, me again hehe! It's sad to see Twister go, it was a pretty fun ride. The part where the cow flies by is my favorite though. Well, hopefully Jimmy Fallon will be a fun experience, so goodbye to Bill and Helen, see you next video!
I'm gonna miss this ride 😭😭
I'm really bummed that this is no longer there! My 3 little boys LOVE the movie! We are going for our first time to Orlando early 2018... thanks for the video so my kids can at least experience it this way!
What a great job documenting the day! Now so many science museums have indoor tornado exhibits and it wasn't as unique anymore. But they don't have Bill Paxton...
Wow. I'm glad I was able to go on this one last time in 2013. Ironically the first time I went in this ride I was only 6 and it scared me for life of tornadoes. I had nightmares for years just because of it. Going back in 2013 as an older teenager was really cool and helped alleviate some of those inner fears as I recognized it was just special effects. Still scared of actual tornadoes though.
It's so sad because the first time I went to universal studios I was 7 and it was my first attraction there so yeah😿😫😓😥😭😢
+Dilcia Ramos Same, it was my first ride there as well. It's sad to see it go but it was definitely past its prime.
This ride is why i have a phobia of storms....
Thanks mom :)
RIP Twister ride u will never be forgotten😢😢😢😢😢😢
They made that mini movie so epic! And the ride so dull!
why do they keep throwing out the good rides?. first jaws, then king Kong "the original" and now twister?
I loved this movie, and I missed the ride when it was open. It's just classic cheese.
Also, love the Bill Paxton/Helen Hunt cosplay.
And it was the movie that made me have a giant crush on Helen Hunt. Seriously, that woman played all the romantic comedies in 1990.
That is a LOT OF PRE-SHOW to sit through. Seriously, two introductions to the attraction. But probably because everything needs to be reset.
What a great attraction that was. Rip bill , great actor who was in so many influencal movies.
I went on this back in 2007, and this was the reason I bought the movie Twister.
I've always wanted to experience this attraction.Soo glad you posted this!
that walking sigh stayed there for the whole what a legend
I remember when this ride was still open. It was the first ride that we always went on as there was just a 5 to 10 mins wait before the Mummy. When we heard it was closing we rode on it non stop
what do they do with all the props from the rides????
+chris bailey trash or as props through out the theme park or sold at action I assume.
+Bryan George Yes they have an auction on NOV 17!
Stephanie Herrera Where is the auction?
Chris B I'm just waiting for somebody on eBay so sell the Back To The Future Ride for like, 40 bucks
I'm late, but there is a Universal prop shop! It is awesome! Right outside of Terminator. Williams of hollywood or something
First rode thus back in 1999 on my very first trip to Florida from the UK. Went back in 2007 and ride it again. I was hoping to ride it again in two years. Such a shame, I was so excited about it watching videos of it before i went.
I was there that day, but I dressed up like Phillip Seymour Hoffman
Dusty!
Rip Bill Paxton. I remember riding Twister when I first went to Universal then I went back to Universal a couple years later and rode it again, but it's sad to see that it won't be there next time I go to Universal. It was really good. And i liked the movie too. I don't understand why they have to take down a old but really really good ride and put in something new over it.
As someone who lives in Orlando, I liked this experience. It wasn't a ride, because all you do is stand, motionless, and watch. The pre-show was HORRIBLE. No one wants to stand for it. Just get us into the stage, please. And Paxton sounds so fake and rehearsed in the pre-show. Anyway, the experience was always cool. One thing really funny happened, the last time I went into this. During the pipe burst above the crowd, in most areas, you don't get wet. In fact, I never got wet, but one time my Mom and I were, evidently, in the good spot, and got sprayed. It was hilarious and unexpected. And every time the cow was shown "flying" it got a laugh, because it looked pretty unrealistic. But it was fun to have it that way. The twister appearance itself was SUPER COOL! I will miss the effects, but not the pre-show. I'm surprised Men In Black is still around. That is the worst attraction ever to hit any theme park, in my opinion.
I remember going there in august 2013. it was really cool. seems like all the cool rides are going away
Loved this show tons on my first couple of visits to Universal as a child! I haven't been been back since before it closed because I go to Disney more often, but this attraction really had charm. Btw! Also love Tim Tracker and Jen!
Love that, sad to see it go. Understand why they need to change but still sad. Have childhood memories going seeing twister and I remember queuing ages in to watch it. Well hopefully Jimmy Fallon will be good and ready for my return next summer :)
+TurboDel Unfortunately it won't be ready until 2017
Ahhhh I always did love the old twister ride
I loved the flying cow
