Can you believe it has been 10 years since the Secret Garden was first released? It brings back a lot of memories for me, since this is one of the first adult coloring books I purchased when I started my adult coloring journey. I love Johanna Basford's work, and while I'm a bigger fan of the adult coloring books she created later, including Rooms of Wonder and Ivy and the Inky Butterfly, this will forever hold a special place in my heart. Does it bring back memories for you?

I wish Johanna would do a Halloween book. I know spiders probably aren't her strong suit, but call it Spooky Hollow or something and illustrate like Halloween designs. She really should do a book for all the major holidays. ❤
Yes!!!! She does insects so well, so I think a Halloween book would be awesome.
I think in an interview once she said she'd never do a Halloween one, but never say never.

I wonder how many adult coloring journeys were started with Johanna or Kerby. I started with Prismacolor Verithins. My first few Premier were a strange experience because of the creaminess. I was used to the harder lead of the thins and easily getting those fine details. Now I generally find Verithins not fun. I do use the grays, black, and silver Verithin a lot to help with shading metals. I enjoy your flip-thrus a lot. It reminds me of going to the coffee shop in Powell's books with my best friend when she lived near me and sitting there with our purchases and talking about what we bought. Thank you for these pleasant little slices of time.

Thank you Kori. I think I will grab it only because this book is memorable after so many years. Otherwise though i'm so over florals and this more zendoodley type of style . I prefer her new drawings much more. I like the little landscapes and houses and things she draws now.

Yeah Ivy is the one that made me really start to like Johanna and the releases from there on out are some of my favorites from her. Her older work is not exactly my favorite.

Spotted on the back cover that the new material is the “pull-out poster”. Johanna is the artist who started “adult colouring” and had a lot of trouble persuading her publisher that colouring wasn’t only for kids. Looks like a collectors’ item (give it another few decades!).

Hi Kori, a lot of people did use fine-liners in some of Johanna’s books. Sadly, I am over this style. However, I love the 2 page pull out, it’s so beautiful and Emily is coloring it during her streams. I think that’s the only new illustration. Thank you so much Kori, for the flip through.
Yeah, it was easier to color in some of her older books with fineliners because it was sooooo tiny
I got this at Walmart. It was too hard to pass up, so nostalgic. It is interesting to color in this edition, seeing how my coloring has changed.
Yeah, definitely a book that helps bring back memories.

Wish she'd just bring more books out. There's never enough and I keep buying the same books coz I hate the paper (they always seem thin) of other branded books. Johannas paper is amazing.

I picked me up one from Walmart. I think the paper is a little different than the original, at least my copy. I wasnt able to use pencils in my original copy, only markers and pens. But I can use pencils just fine in the anniversary copy. 🤔
The paper is about the same. I mean possibly slightly different than what was used on the original 10 years ago, but that's because I bet they don't have the same paper from 10 years ago
Hello! This is the Uk version or USA version? I would like to Know if the UK version has ivory paper or White. The spanish version has ivory paper.

I saw the book at Walmart .I love the drawing buy the book was yellow pages . As i"m watching the video the pages are white . So, i"m confused Thank You !

The original Secret Garden is not for me. Every time I looked at a flip through or sample online I was put off. Some of the pages were available for free on her website (like the owl) which I downloaded and colored. Most of the pages are far too detailed for me and overall I found the book overwhelming. Now I’ve seen this one, this one isn’t for me either… essentially it’s the same LOL! Thank you for the flip through.
Yeah her older work was definitely more details and had a lot of smaller lines and such. These days the content is a lot easier to color.
I started to do one of the covers for one of my JB books, always with metallic gel pen. But the cheap gel pens run out ridiculously fast, and then all those empty pens going in the trash made me feel very guilty. And the ones that you don't use up almost immediately just dry out and stop working. So, I never got anymore of those due to being excessively wasteful. So, the covers of my JB books are a lingering WIP that will probably never be finished.
Haha, I never thought of doing it with glitter gel pens, but that would be super pretty!
Maybe posca’s or a similar paint pen would work better for you. I find that posca’s go a pretty long way and they come in beautiful metallic colours.

If I knew the pullout was the only new illustration, I wouldn't have bought it. It was never my favorite of hers. I can't believe it's been 10 years!
Yeah that is sadly the new image, but really, like I said in the video, this is definitely more of a collector's nostalgic type of deal
