With all due respect, no histories are unbiased. And all histories possess imperfections. Anna even admitted of memory loss due to old age and some of the accounts she wrote down were based from unsubstantiated accounts, like rumors or second-hand information. But credit is due for she was the only one who gave us an elitist-Byzantine/Roman perspective about her time and importantly, the finer details of everyday life.

No historical analysis is 100%. That's why you look at multiple sources. But her work is still very important and she did try to remain objective and back up any claims she made. Considering the availability of information of the time, she did rather well.

Well, there's an issue since she did try to overthrow her brother, John, who also co-ruled with his father Alex and a designated heir.
He even refer her husband--happily married and a General to boot--as "weak-willed" for not conspiring with her but instead snitched out on John.
Either a Game of Thrones, John's account being biased, or sibling rivalry got out of hand? But I want to know the context on how that issue happened despite John's reign being legitimate in Byzantine rule of law.

I don’t know why but a line of dialogue from Game of Thrones 7x1 between Arya Stark and a Lannister soldier came to mind when watching this video.
    “I hope it’s a girl.”
    “Why?”
“Girls take care of their papas when their papas grow old...”
Anna took care of her father when he grew old and even when she herself grew old, she protected his legacy- his story- and that’s more than any father could ask for.

It is interesting to feature Anna in a 'popular' history, but this is an oversimplification and white washing of Anna's career. She was a historian only by circumstance, due to her being imprisoned in a monastery for plotting to have her brother killed. She was raised to be empress as Alexis's first born, but list her place in the succession when her brother John was born. Anna could never reconcile her loss of position and constantly plotted to seize the throne. John eventually had her imprisoned in a monastery where she could do no more damage. There she began writing her history idolizing her father. She did a lot of whitewashing of Alexis reign (John is virtually erased from the history).
Bryennius' history was a military history of the civil was period, which he did not publish during his lifetime. His grandfather had been an unsuccessful claimant to the throne.
Anna's Alexiad is a masterful piece of mediaeval literature with exceptional detail and personal thoughts and descriptions (Anna's descriptions of the crusader leaders visit to the imperial Court is particularly good). It does however tell too good a tale about Alexis's reign.

I like how NOBODY has ever bothered to narrate Anna Komnene's book to be listened to. People will praise her but not respect her enough to make that work avaliable online 🍻

It is a historic and academic piece so audiobook doesnt really have any claim to it

I saw this in my profile, just hoped instantly it would be about Anna Comnena, and lo, it was. One of the more well-remembered 'forgotten' figures of medieval history, great advocate for the role of history in stemming the forgetfulness of memory, also one of the great users of history as propaganda thus by definition an ironist, AND a fine example of filial piety in a royal daughter. What more to ask? Oh, right, staged a putsch like a true Eastern Roman princess. Truly I love her across the ages.

Wouldn't this mean she had a lot of bias as she gave her recounts? When I think about it, they did mention she spoke about a battle where he lost. They might hint she was not as bias like others in certain stuff. (Victors usually sensationalize how they won while the losers are going to tell the less sensationalize version of what happened sometimes.)
