Trying this pattern but cannot get the crown to fit the band without puckering. The band is too big to easily fit the crown. I used 1/4 in seams to join the bands. Had to use lots of pins and your video does not show like having to use so many. Can you advise. I have tried easing and dividing hat into quarters.
This is a great project, but I have one question. Why does the video say to add 1/4” to the end of the band piece(s). The graphic shows only one piece with this addition. Do you mean to add 1/4” to all the band pieces? The printed pattern doesn’t mention the need to add 1/4”. Could you please explain? I’m ready to cut out the pieces and I don’t know how to do it. Thank you.
Hey, we're happy to hear you like this project! For the pattern, we indicated this because it's only required to add the additional 1/4" when you're colour blocking. This accounts for stitching those pieces of the band together so that that the size of your hat doesn't shrink! So yes, if you're colour blocking add 1/4" to the bottom side of the band pattern pieces, and if you're doing a solid colour just cut 2 of the band pieces on the fold!
