As a former trumpet player who is trying to get back into the groove, that little solo is one of the best I’ve heard in a long time and props to the entire trumpet section for pulling it off.
This is a dream come true. In my 30+ years of gaming never in my life would I have imagined hearing this masterpiece with actual, real instruments. Im teary. Thank you!
Oh my goodness. I would give a kidney to hear the entire soundtrack this way. This is absolutely phenomenal arrangement and play. I am so beside myself right now.

ye gods, music from my childhood. also, never seen a mute for a Tuba before, thing's fking massive... Thank you for making this. Me (the video-game music fan) and my father (the jazz fan) have a song set we can both agree on. Tim Follin deserved this, and you definitely delivered.
I am always delighted by the tones and musical colors created by Miles' arrangements. Not to mention the magnificently skilled musicians performing them. BRAVO! As an old trumpet player who grew up marching drum corps and geeking out to Tower of Power and Stan Kenton, I cannot thank you enough for the pleasure I feel from the gifts you give to me. Thank you, sir. Thank you.
Stumbling on this video feels like all of my my birthdays and Christmases are happening all at once. I've loved Plok's OST since the first time I popped it in the SNES, and I can't imagine a more perfect cover than this. A great arrangement, incredible performances, beautiful production... Bravo and thanks to all involved!
It’s impossible to not be moved to tears every time I listen to this. It’s a testament to the songwriting, the arrangement, the sheer musicianship provided here. I hope one day I can see something this wonderful in person.
More of the world needs to know how much of a gift the Follin brothers are. Tim was a technical master of squeezing every last ounce of primitive audio chips sure, but between the both of them the compositions they made are just as phenomenal an achievement and the absolutely beautiful renditions of them on this channel are proof of this.
I used to play this game and whenever I'd hear this song I'd be perfectly content to just put the controller down and jam to this. 2nd best video game song ever written, only behind the Silver Surfer theme...which was also Tim and Geoff Follin lol.
Absolutely marvelous of an arrangement, I have to wonder what Tim himself would think if he were to see this. This is a great tribute for a great composer! Everyone did such an amazing job!
From one Myles to another, thank you for this. I've only today discovered the Plok soundtrack (and specifically Akrillic), but I'm already spellbound. This arrangement really captures that wonder.
@@CrabbyPattyMoox more big band music, yes - video game music specifically, probably not unless there was huge demand for it and these videos went viral etc. You are correct that they cost a ton of $ to make, hence my uploading videos once every 7 years or so
This version of "Akrillic" is great! Lovingly arranged, performed, and produced. I imagine finding a fitting denouement for a composition that is intended to loop is no easy task - here, it fits perfectly. "Akrillic" is my favorite piece from the "Plok!" soundtrack and a stunning bit of music overall, and it's a joy to stumble across this video. Thanks!
How does this channel not have more views and subscribers? This was fantastic! If Plok ever gets remastered (I wish) these arrangements should be the official soundtrack.
I was like "oooo this is so well arranged" but the moment those SICK modulations (I assume is your own writing) hit at 3:50 - 3:53 I like INSTANTLY slammed the subscribe button LMAO
@@MylesWrightMusic So what chord progression is that at that timecode then if you don't mind my asking. Obviously the piece overall is in a tonal context but that doesn't sound like it doesn't use chromaticism. I know for a fact at least the progression leading up to it (one of my favorite moments in all of vg music composed by Mr Follin and I reckon is POTENTIALLY subconsciously influenced by Tony Banks from Genesis's writing style though I may be wrong. I just know he listened to Genesis a LOT as a child because it's what his brothers were listening to and he listened to what they did) But I know that progression at 3:25 to 3:32 goes from Am to F#m to FM which cannot exist in one key and thus is modulatory. Even if you analyze that snippet of chords as being in D minor with a passing chord that goes out of key that's still a temporary modulation away from D minor and back. The minor chromatic mediant and slide there are two of my favorite chord progressions and I thought I heard chord progressions with a similar vibe in the newly added part I outlined before. Would be really curious to know what actually was done there at 3:50 - 3:53 as I love the sound.
I think this may be the most perfect orchestration of a song that originally only used crunchy SNES synths. The feel of the song is on another level compared to what the original was going for. The original is awesome, but this takes it to an eleven!
a cover this fantastic needs significantly more than just 780 views! i love hearing the plok soundtrack done with live instruments like this. fantastic stuff!!
i really love this song, and i have to say this arrangement sounds AMAZING. kinda reminds me of sims 3 at some points but thats prob just because of the orchestral woodwinds lol. again, amazing job with this, 10/10
