  • In this video I show you how to rebuild the rear shock on a dirt bike. This example is a 06 KDX 200. I also put in aftermarket valving. I hope this is helpful to anyone trying to do the same thing on their bikes!

Got to use nitrogen to keep the bladder pressure consistent, air will fluctuate like crazy

Is it not critical to fill the bladder back up with nitrogen? Curious to read the instructions you followed if you have those handy.

Hey, don't know if you are riding or not still but how did the shock work with air vs. 100% nitrogen? I get what people are saying because the mfg wants you to use nitrogen but air itself is 80% nitrogen. Would love to know if you could tell a difference or not.

Who makes that specialty tool that pressed the stack/seal in? I'm getting ready to do this to my kdx and would like to order one. Thanks for posting this video; very helpful..

It labored me to watch this. A few tools you could use to make this easier a rubber mechanics hammer instead of a carpenters hammer, a couple mechanics punches to fit in the holes for prying the cap off the shock body instead of a carpenters chisel, a finer file for chamfering the shaft after grinding it. Most alarming of all you recharging your shock with air instead of nitrogen. Also I would never disassemble something like this without having all the parts to rebuild it including a new seal head. This really isn’t a very difficult job but you made it look like it was.

Did the gold valve make much of a difference?
