My husband and I voted for Trump while my entire family voted for Kamala. We don’t talk about politics when we get together. It’s easy to do. I would never let my political views stop me from being with the people I love the most, and luckily, they feel the same.
Although my politics are a little bit different than most Democrats and Republicans, I will have to say that my boyfriend‘s family invited me to Thanksgiving and most of them voted for Trump. Well, one other grandmother voted for a Democratic party, but even then they’re all going to Thanksgiving and graciously invited me because my family is out for Thanksgiving this year. And basically what they said “no one should be alone on Thanksgiving.” That’s what I’m grateful for. ❤
Yes!! This is what I was discussing with my Granddaughters. People also did not discuss their income or financial business, either. I told the girls that they do not have to tell anyone their business.
I voted for Trump, and my family uninvited me to Thanksgiving. My two boys were with their father for the holiday. So I ordered Chinese and spent the day alone. Had the election gone the other way, I would never have even thought to do that to family. But, it is what it is... I still feel grateful to live in a country where I have the freedom to make a different choice, to think for myself, and to choose what I feel is right. Love your show! Thank you for what you do!❤

I disagreed with my mother all my adult life about politics. Never once did I not show up for a holiday or did she tell me I couldn't come over for any reason because of that. These people need to get over themselves.

My son has not spoken to me in years because of my politics. He texted me on election day that my vote was "unforgivable". I texted back that I love him unconditionally and that i wish he loved me the same. My door, heart, and mind are always open to him. I avoid talking about politics with my other 2 adult children. It is very sad to think i may never see or speak to him again. It is intolerant, bullying, behavior. And it seems to be encouraged by the media. 😢

I'm a black man who voted for Donald Trump and was still able to go to my aunt's house for Thanksgiving last night and she voted for Harris. We did not talk about politics at all. The food was excellent. She made her turkey with orange juice and wine and other seasoning so the turkey was juicy. When we finish eating we started watching Christmas movies. 😃

Got into an argument with my sister about 3 months before the election regarding her telling me that i should keep my male centric thoughts to myself.. when i corrected her and told her that her trying to dictate what i should and shouldnt say or feel as a man, is the exact issue that people have with the democratic party and why Trump was likely going to win the election. That's how it was in Canada, but we have become infected by the US. It crept north and west, and now in the east. One day I woke up and didn't recognize my fellow citizens. It's been sad in that way, ever since.
It is crazy we are not allowed to discuss different opinions. Imo if people could rationally have debates/discussions there would be less of a divide between left and right. It’s funny because I grew up in a democratic liberal home. This year was my first time voting on my own instead of just taking my mom’s word for it. I went conservative and I’m the odd one out in my family. But we all gathered together and had a lovely Thanksgiving together and shared memories and new moments full of love. ❤️

Actually there have been women arrested and denied follow up care after miscarriages, the law doesn’t specify, but the people who are supposed to interpret and enforce said laws are either applying their own agendas or don’t understand. It is just that in many European countries voting is irrelevant, since the governments are formed out of coalitions, so the party that got the most votes might not even get into the actual government after all. One of my nieces canceled on Thanksgiving and everyone is thankful for it except her husband and 2 children. My sister and brother in law told their son in law to stand up to her and bring the children.

Both my parents are gone and I only have one grandparent left. It's just the two of us this year. I don't really talk to my dad's side of the family. My sister has Thanksgiving but my grandma can't make it up her steps. My cousin has it but lives two hours away. Neither one of us feels like making that trip. I stopped participating in holidays several years ago.

It was Hansl & Gretl. Out of the blue, one of the main heroes says: "Mother told us not to go to the forest, because it's full of wolves and republicans". I was startled. This joke was repeated on 2 other occasions in the play. Now, consider: we are in Canada. "Republicans" are not even a political party here, and the meaning of this word is very different here, since Canada is a monarchy. But every adult understands that it's about the American republican party. So, you have this theatre director who is so political that he's unable to keep his bias for himself, revealing it instead in a playful Christmas show for little children who don't even know what "republic" means. Needless to say that I have never encountered anything like that from the conservative side. I am not even sure there is a conservative side in Canada anymore, bc conservatives simply keep their mouths shut.

Now, looking back at that pantomime, I realize it was a red flag. Then the demic came, with vax and lockdowns, and that divided people drastically. Do you ever worry about your son’s eternity? My heart was shattered when my daughter turned away because I love her so much. I didnt stop speaking truth in love to her. Obviously you can’t force anyone to believe, and I let her go her own way. When the people in her life who were also unbelievers rejected her and broke her heart she knew I never gave up on her and will be there until the end of time for her, and in deep prayer for her. I didn’t refrain from telling her what was true though.
Both my parents and grandparents have passed. I have one sister and she's going to her in laws for Thanksgiving. I wish I could spend today with my family... These people gave no idea what they have and how blessed they are to have a family to go home to.
I can relate with the grandparents part too, not my parents yet since I am a young adult but they are older. I wish my family wasn't broken and we could get together again, really wish people would not take what they have for granted and be thankful for their family. Growing up, I had an uncle who served in Vietnam and one who was a hippie. We would get together for all the holidays and had a good time. We talked about a lot of things, but one thing we didn't discuss, the Vietnam war.
Back in 2016 when i voted Hilary i didn’t care if you voted Trump. I had multiple Trump supporting friends. I never once felt afraid to voice that i was Democrat. Even back then i couldn’t understand why i would see people on my facebook saying “if you voted Trump then unfriend me”. Now that i voted Trump, i feel afraid to voice that i support Trump because over the last 8 years ive seen nothing but hate towards conservatives. I didn’t leave the democratic party, they left me.

Yes, I am feeling all of this. I have been raising a blended family with my ex, his wife, my eldest child's father and his wife, and all our kids for more than 20 years. We have celebrated Christmases and Thanksgivings always together. Stopped getting the invite for Thanksgiving in 2020 due to my support of Trump. That equates to 3 Thanksgivings without my daughters, with no end in sight. It hurts. I'm crying. Thanks for this.

Once the politicians get your vote and donations their interest in you is gone. I’ve noticed most of them promise the moon but find they can’t give it or never had any intention of doing so.
My mum and dad died within 5 months of each other when I was 23. My first child was 3 weeks old when my dad died of stamach cancer and he was six months old when my mum lost her battle with breast cancer. We always disagreed on politics and occasionally had heated debates about it. Not on Christmas though because that's a celebration ffs. Every year that has passed since losing them I have missed them more and yearned more for the chance to sit one more time at their table. For my children to have the love and security which good grandparents bring with them. For them to see how fine that little baby boy they adored for sch a short time turned out. For them to have had the chance to know his little sister. I get so angry with people who can have all that and choose to throw it away for something as outside of themselves as politics.
I lost one of my childhood best friends of 10+ years because I voted for trump. He never even gave me the benefit of letting me know he was going to cut me off, and simply ghosted. Goes to show how awful some of these ideologies can be, teaching people that behavior such as that is okay.
My husband and I can't go home for the holidays because he is active duty in the military and we have kids. If we were to travel the oldest would be missing school, which would not be fair to his education. These people are so thick-headed that they are throwing away the privilege of being with family regardless of who they voted for. The holidays are for coming together despite our differences.
I have a trans cousin. She is like this. Extremely hateful towards anyone who voted "orange." She is always invited along to family events, but she treats us all like garbage due to our differing views. Really sad to see it.

Because we have intense love for each other, we never have nor ever will let politics divide us. We’re all just proud of each other for engaging in our civic duties.

My family of 7 is very diverse in our "stances" but we all love and respect each other. It's never been an issue and never will. We can discuss anything, and even if we get passionate, we always find common ground.

I lost my father in April, I said goodbye to a cousin that fought cancer for nearly 12 years 2 days after my father died. She wasn't even 50 years old. I lost another cousin to cancer the day after the election. I didnt even think I'd make it to this year in my own cancer struggle. My dad was very different politically from me, but I wish I had him still with me regardless. Even though he sometimes gets heated, I miss it so much. Going to my husband's family Thanksgiving and looking out among the 5 generations and seeing Grandpa gone, seeing my cousin in law and "cancer buddy" not there felt empty. My mom didnt have her husband thos Thanksgiving. And these self important, entitled brats deciding they'll "cut off their nose to spite their face" as my mom would say it, are petty and only really hurting themselves.

Although my politics are a little bit different than most Democrats and Republicans, I will have to say that my boyfriend‘s family invited me to Thanksgiving and most of them voted for Trump. Had the election gone the other way, I would never have even thought to do that to family. But, it is what it is... I'm a 31 year old Man who is Politically Independent yet favors the Right as the less bad option, I voted for Trump all 3 times. One of my Aunts is a Socialist Democrat, yet we can still tolerate each other and occasionally discuss politics without it causing problems. It's called Respect & Decency, I wish more people could understand & practice that.

Both my parents are gone and I only have one grandparent left. It's just the two of us this year. I don't really talk to my dad's side of the family. My sister has Thanksgiving but my grandma can't make it up her steps. My cousin has it but lives two hours away. Neither one of us feels like making that trip. I stopped participating in holidays several years ago.

I'm imagining the elderly neighbor who was cut off before Thanksgiving by the person he believed to be a friend. He reached out in friendship, shared thoughts and conversation, had a few beers, and believed that he was building a relationship. Then he found out that none of it was real. The person who he thought was a friend was only interested in politics. And here's the kicker: she probably has a "coexist" bumper sticker, a sign that says "love trumps hate," and a t-shirt that says "kindness." She didn't know love or kindness when it was right in front of her!

I went once to Christmas pantomime for children - I think it was during the 1st Trump term, or right after the 2016 election. As usual in a pantomime, there is some fairy tale as background story. It was Hansl & Gretl. Out of the blue, one of the main heroes says: "Mother told us not to go to the forest, because it's full of wolves and republicans". I was startled. This joke was repeated on 2 other occasions in the play.
Now, consider: we are in Canada. "Republicans" are not even a political party here, and the meaning of this word is very different here, since Canada is a monarchy. But every adult understands that it's about the American republican party. So, you have this theatre director who is so political that he's unable to keep his bias for himself, revealing it instead in a playful Christmas show for little children who don't even know what "republic" means.
Needless to say that I have never encountered anything like that from the conservative side. I am not even sure there is a conservative side in Canada anymore, bc conservatives simply keep their mouths shut.

However, 5 or 6 years ago, I did not pay attention seeing it as a "not so intrusive" feature of the social landscape. "Live and let live".
Now, looking back at that pantomime, I realize it was a red flag. Then the demic came, with vax and lockdowns, and that divided people drastically. As a result, today, any subject of conversation is less than one word away from politics. No safe subjects left. Weather? Climchange. Kids? Trans. Health? Vax. Cars? Electric and climchange again. Travel? Border control and migrants.

Do you ever worry about your son’s eternity? My heart was shattered when my daughter turned away because I love her so much. I didnt stop speaking truth in love to her. Obviously you can’t force anyone to believe, and I let her go her own way. When the people in her life who were also unbelievers rejected her and broke her heart she knew I never gave up on her and will be there until the end of time for her, and in deep prayer for her. I didn’t refrain from telling her what was true though.

Growing up, I had an uncle who served in Vietnam and one who was a hippie. We would get together for all the holidays and had a good time. We talked about a lot of things, but one thing we didn't discuss, the Vietnam war.
Back in 2016 when i voted Hilary i didn’t care if you voted Trump. I had multiple Trump supporting friends. I never once felt afraid to voice that i was Democrat. Even back then i couldn’t understand why i would see people on my facebook saying “if you voted Trump then unfriend me”.
Now that i voted Trump, i feel afraid to voice that i support Trump because over the last 8 years ive seen nothing but hate towards conservatives. I didn’t leave the democratic party, they left me.

Yes, I am feeling all of this. I have been raising a blended family with my ex, his wife, my eldest child's father and his wife, and all our kids for more than 20 years. We have celebrated Christmases and Thanksgivings always together. Stopped getting the invite for Thanksgiving in 2020 due to my support of Trump. That equates to 3 Thanksgivings without my daughters, with no end in sight. It hurts. I'm crying. Thanks for this.

Once the politicians get your vote and donations their interest in you is gone. I’ve noticed most of them promise the moon but find they can’t give it or never had any intention of doing so.
My mum and dad died within 5 months of each other when I was 23. My first child was 3 weeks old when my dad died of stamach cancer and he was six months old when my mum lost her battle with breast cancer.
We always disagreed on politics and occasionally had heated debates about it. Not on Christmas though because that's a celebration ffs. Every year that has passed since losing them I have missed them more and yearned more for the chance to sit one more time at their table. For my children to have the love and security which good grandparents bring with them. For them to see how fine that little baby boy they adored for sch a short time turned out. For them to have had the chance to know his little sister.
I get so angry with people who can have all that and choose to throw it away for something as outside of themselves as politics.
I lost one of my childhood best friends of 10+ years because I voted for trump. He never even gave me the benefit of letting me know he was going to cut me off, and simply ghosted. Goes to show how awful some of these ideologies can be, teaching people that behavior such as that is okay.

My husband and I can't go home for the holidays because he is active duty in the military and we have kids. If we were to travel the oldest would be missing school, which would not be fair to his education. These people are so thick-headed that they are throwing away the privilege of being with family regardless of who they voted for. The holidays are for coming together despite our differences.
I have a trans cousin. She is like this. Extremely hateful towards anyone who voted "orange." She is always invited along to family events, but she treats us all like garbage due to our differing views. Really sad to see it.

The fact that something as meaningless as who you chose to vote for divides families is appalling. I’m Canadian, my mom votes liberal, my dad conservative, and I’ve voted both. Because we have intense love for each other, we never have nor ever will let politics divide us. We’re all just proud of each other for engaging in our civic duties.

My family of 7 is very diverse in our "stances" but we all love and respect each other. It's never been an issue and never will. We can discuss anything, and even if we get passionate, we always find common ground.

I lost my father in April, I said goodbye to a cousin that fought cancer for nearly 12 years 2 days after my father died. She wasn't even 50 years old. I lost another cousin to cancer the day after the election. I didnt even think I'd make it to this year in my own cancer struggle. My dad was very different politically from me, but I wish I had him still with me regardless. Even though he sometimes gets heated, I miss it so much.
Going to my husband's family Thanksgiving and looking out among the 5 generations and seeing Grandpa gone, seeing my cousin in law and "cancer buddy" not there felt empty. My mom didnt have her husband thos Thanksgiving.
