    I came across the book 'Consciousness is Everything' by Swami Shankarananda in a secondhand bookstore in Melbourne and I cannot express how much it has changed my life.

    yes near death experiences and kashmir shaivism go hand in hand, it's one of the main things that gives kashmir shaivism such credibility.

      Reverend Eslam i think what is being referred to here is monism, which is a philosophical school more than a religion. Usually in the form of there is only matter and consciousness is a mere epi-phenomenon of matter.
      I'm not saying i adhere to that at all, but that's the point. Advaita is also a form of monism in that it says only consciousness is and the appearance of something like matter is just an appearance in consciousness. Diametrically opposed of course haha
