      Indy falls down the descending stairs: "Daaaaad!!"

      The long pause between the two halves of Henry’s sentence just gets me even more than Indy falling down 😂

    I heard this piece yesterday with the Berlin Philharmonic, John Williams conducting himself! It was a once in a lifetime experience!

    3:21 I've always been fond of that utterly ludicrous > road sign, as if that would ever exist anywhere lmao

    Probably my favourite Williams piece

    John Williams always figures out how to queue important moments in the film score without "Tom and Jerrying" every little moment in the scene. Ex: 03:06 relies on a simple chord and the humor of Connery's face, rather than an over-the-top musical beat, to create a more mature experience for the audience, and it works well. Subtle humor is often the funniest!

    At 2:28, that rhythmic pattern to create tension with those horns is ridiculous. Sight reading this must have been a little challenging.

      The horn section for this score was legendary: Vince DeRosa, Jim Thatcher, William Lane, Brian O'Connor, Brad Warnaar, John Reynolds

      @@TheLegacyOfJohnWilliams, oh, wow! I graduate with a Master in Music for Film and Television. The school gave me the entire score to Jurassic Park. The woodwinds in particular is phenomenal work in regards to his orchestration.
      It seems today's scores are becoming less and less orchestrated (especially in the woodwind category), and drone and electronic soundscapes are replacing them.
      P.S., I graduate with my degree this November!

    Saw a recent interview with James Newton Howard where he talked about how John Williams writes Brass amazingly well and how many composers just don't have the same depth and he is right, JNH admitted that he doesn't write trumpets as well as JW

    • @LordMangudai
      @LordMangudai 2 роки тому +3

      JNH may not write brass as well as Williams (nobody does, at least in film music), but he's being modest. He's no slouch in that department himself, especially his earlier, brighter adventure scores such as Treasure Planet contain some phenomenal brass writing.

      @@LordMangudai I agree, I think JNH wrote some terrific brass cues recently in Jungle Cruise and his brass riffs in the main titles of Signs and Wyatt Earp were pretty good too

    Jerry Goldsmith asked John Williams after seeing Temple of Doom why he didn't use more of the Raider's March and that if he had scored that film he would have used it more, I think that theme similar to the Bond theme should only be saved for big heroic moments or moments of character progression rather than whenever Indy is on screen, it would have diluted the power of the piece if it were used more and John Williams being a master of melody easily comes up with half a dozen memorable ideas on most films he works on.

    My fav John Williams piece! Recently heard Symphony No. 2, Op. A-47 "Ibérica": II. Allegro scherzando by Manen, and I can't help but think John Williams picked up some ideas for this piece from there.

    I’m just curious about the Scherzo theme part. I don’t know exactly how you’d lay it down on the woodwinds, how it would be spread. Do you have the three flutes play different notes and others instruments (oboes, clarinets and cor anglais) play the harmonies, or interleave them?
