I appreciated how you showed all the difficulty getting this bulb to seat, as well as needing to connect the cable beforehand. All the other videos made this part seem like a piece of cake, which it isn't. Thanks
Thanks for the video. I have a 2014 UK GLA 250 and had to replace the bulb which had turned a dim orange (no warning message on console). Mercedes wanted £344 for parts, labour and VAT! In the end I brought the bulb from Mercedes for £170 and fitted it myself. £174 fitting charge can cover a lot of swearing!!! Took about 45 minutes. The space to get your hand in is tiny, and for the anti-clockwise unclip I could only get 2 fingers and a thumb on it. I practiced refitting with the old bulb first. Wire unclip is easy. Reconnecting is really hard and was 2 fingers in the access panel and one finger from above. On my GLA the cable seemed a lot shorter than the car in this video. I was under the impression it would be harder than this to replace, but it is not that hard. Fiddly and time consuming but not hard. I suspect that in a MB garage they would remove the wheel and raise it up for easy access but it is not required. The bulb I removed was the same as the video Philips 9285 301 244 "D3s 35W". The one I replaced it with (from Mercedes) was part N 000000 005042 and that had in it a Osram 66340HBI bulb (I think - the camera shot was blurred a bit). Buying just the bulb is probably about £50-£60 in the UK. 200%+ mark up from Mercedes seems average for bulbs I guess. :| Tips: Be careful opening the cap and hold on to it! I lost mine down inside the front bumper and had to remove a fender panel slightly! D'oh! If you want to buy a bulb online not from a dealer, then you could do the replace in two steps - first taking the cap off and slipping a camera phone in to capture the model numbers, replace cap and order, etc.
Where did you get the bulbs from? I have a 2019 GLA 250 would like brighter headlights. The ones we got from Amazon were not physically compatible even though it stated online it was compatible with my car.
Jit - the problem is probably not the bulb, but the way the headlights are aimed from the factor. I fixed our GLA's lighting problem by adjusting the lights up just a bit. There is the video to show you how to do that - it is really easy: ua-cam.com/video/qbP46bN7Jts/v-deo.html
If you do need to purchase a new bulb, I agree, it was difficult. The one I bought that works great is the Philips D3S C1. Search that on Amazon. It was $65. You could also go to the MB dealer. I don't know if it could be anymore expensive there.
@@mbrenengen I got them from Mercedes today. They installed it for free. Hopefully they'll be much bright but they didn't look much brighter when I turned them on in the dark garage.
After watched this video I realized my headlight got swapped by those crook Mechanics. Cause it ain't the original, I'm so pissed off I don't want to check other side. Ain't no honesty in the car shop repair business anymore!!

Good tips. I especially like the idea of practicing with the old bulb.
You paid 170 for a bulb???
Thank you so much. Changed both light bulbs Driver and Passenger. Worked just the same as you described on 2013 GL450.
I have a 2016 GLA250 with halogen bulbs. By far the most difficult bulb swap I’ve ever done.
does it have the same d3s bulb?
I'm having difficulty reinstalling the bulb back into the socket. Any tips of the angle to insert in before turning clockwise to lock it? Thanks
Great thank you 👍🏻
Not bad for a green horn.
how did you get ur lights at the end to flash like that?
It’s because they are leds the camera picks up the strobe effect. We can’t see it with our eyes.
Thanks
Thank you mate.
hi, great video. Do you think it would be the same bulb for my 2014 GLA 45AMG?
Most likely it is the same, but take it out and look to be sure, before you order the bulb.

Was there ever honesty in car repair shops?
