I’m a HUUUUUUUGE fan of Rick James’ music and I remember hearing this for the first as a kid and thinking 🔥🔥, but visiting it again today in 2022, WOW! Such an underrated track! 💯💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yes I think he was meaning your tat. I agree too. I think all of you is dope, that's all what I see in your tiny profile pic. I do love your beauty, gorgeous
What I love about this is that Busta not just points out how tough a ghetto can be but also all the positive things, the togetherness of the community. Chuck D. from Public Enemy once was asked about what he thought about what Hip-hop has become and he said "them Motherfuckers ain't got nothing to say." because Public Enemy was all about "there's something wrong here, now here's what we have to do to set things right." which is a very positive message. These days it's more about "Streetlife is so tough, step into my Lamborghini and I'll take you to my multimillion dollars mansion and I'll tell you all about it!" He's right about that, let's be honest.
Honestly I see the same shxx He talks about In My UK estate. Crack head mothers, Alcoholics, Drug addicts, Wimen getting pregnant on government welfare checks.
Damn Rick James pipes ignorant! He could have sung Opera! His range was beautiful! RIP my brother there will never be another! Busta nice collaboration!!!!
Love Busta Rhymes since the 90's and I can't believe I haven't heard of this song before. Damnnn...what a song! This track deserves equal appreciation to a still dre typa song..
First heard this song in the 5th grade on my way to school in 2006. The way he was describing everything that’s when I first realized I lived in the ghetto.
This is nice, this is the first time I ever heard this song by Rick James and Busta Rhymes. I heard the original before by Rick James! It's sad that black music doesn't get airplay!
The Big Bang was such a amazing album. 2006. Dre & Busta worked magic on this project. In The Ghetto, Touch it, NY Shit, I love my Chick, Don't get carried away, Legend of The Fall offs.
Busta came from the culture where lyrics flow with the beat. He chose Dr Dre to produce the grimy of the ghetto. Takes talent & lyrical skill to be on Dr Dre beats with Rick James singing the hook.
Busta has always been relevant for everyone and everything. What a legendary music maker, he has been making bangers since I can remember , consistently.... Top 5 Easy.
" If You Ain't From The Ghetto, Don't Come To The Fucking Ghetto " - Treach Real shit ....Bronx New York Was Shaken ? Hoods all over was shaken ? Keep it gully 1 Love Y'all ❤️✌🏽
There's nothin' like having pride in both you and your 'hood, ghetto or not. Props to Busta, and R.I.P Rick James. They're both funky enough to share it with the rest of us.
This song made me cry. I grew up in the ghetto of South Central Los Angeles. My dad was murdered when I was 6 years old. When he died then that's when things went downhill: We ended up homeless on and off for years. My mom tried her best to care for me as a poor single mom living on Section 8. She passed away in 2017. She ended up in the hospital with so-called "lung cancer" (which I knew was BS so the doctors could have an excuse to give her chemotherapy so they can make money smh).. They did a biopsy on her lungs and then that's when she couldnt breathe anymore without an oxygen tank/machine. They ended up giving her morphine injection in hospital to kill her (typing this makes me cry) because her health just got worse and worse. She was on a feeding tube in the hospital and they just fed her Ensure which is full of sugar and other crap. I miss my mom and I cry almost everyday. Her death weighs heavy on my heart everyday. The ghetto is chaotic but it's home for me and home is where the heart is. Growing up in the ghetto has taught me a lot. You either let the pain and trauma of the ghetto make you or breaks you and it taught me a lot.
This song still sounds great it is hitting Rick James is hitting the notes high and low it is a shame that people didn't have more respect for his talent as a musician and as a singer
01:55 Water on the cereal; doesn't get more ghetto than that! - Hey hey hey hey ... WHAT are you doing? - I'm throwing this away, we ain't got no milk. - Better put some water on that damn shit!
3/14/2020: I thank the comment from another thread, that mentioned this song. I was a child of the '70s, grew up in Jamaica and the only song I remember from Rick James is "Super Freak." Oh, and "Ebony Eyes" that he sang with Smokey Robinson. This song is.....a REAL history lesson!!!
One of Busta's most under-appreciated songs.
100%
It's my favourite one of his.
I love the smoth Beat and Bustas still fast but calm Rapping here. very cool Track indeed.
His whole catalog is under appreciated.

These guys didn't need Auto-Tune on the hold track. They allowed their talent to represent the track.

If it was released when it just came out it’d probably have a lot more views
I just realized this made no sense so what I meant was if it came out in 2021 or around 2017 it would be a lot more popular
2016 still watching old Busta Rhymes mate
