Medan is indeed a nice place. I remember 20-30 years ago a lot of people went to Medan for holidays but after low cost airlines came into existence, the focus is no longer there and people are going further destinations like Korea, Japan with cheap flights. Since it’s just 1 hour away ✈️from KL, it make a short 3-5 days trip very feasible and enjoyable besides being affordable. Thanks for watching 👍🙏

Uncle Lee, 我是印尼华人,Selat Panjang and Semarang are "Street Food Chinatown", not the Real China Town. 我们这里多数是福建人,You are lucky You can find people who can speak Cantonese.
Kenny, the real Chinatown was actually around there. Jalan Bogor was the heart of the 'new Chinatown' in 1900 between Jalan Bandung (Luitenants weg) and Jalan Ani Idrus (Kapiteins weg). There was a big fire in Kesawan 1899-1900 which ate up most wooden houses, but the Old Chinatown was closer to Pajak Hindu and Vihara Setiabudi. Jalan Ahmad Yani VII used to be called 'Jalan Pasar Lama' as early as 1895. That means old 'Chineesche Kamp' was around there too. The old Kampung Keling was actually behind Pajak Hindu. Lau Ah Yok/Sukarame is not actually technically a Chinatown. It was a slum for people who could not afford to live in Chinatown. It later became the second Chinatown when things got a bit better.
@@kennyhalim8081 same. I am in my late 30s. I read a lot of history and past archives. My family have lived around Kesawan for generations, hence we know some stories.
Medan is not an expensive city. Prices are very reasonable. Even food in hotel is about RM20-30. So RM1000 for 4 days 3 nights should be enough (not including airfare).
