Minerva mcgonagall was headmistress only till 2016 after which Hermione was appointed by her. After Hermione was appointed minister of magic in 2019 mcgonagall took the position again

Funny you should say, I'm doing a fanfition on it. Basically my character becomes his apprentice since her parents were dead. It becomes a repeat of King Arthur since my character is a distant relative of Arthur Pendragon.
Honestly, I prefer that over Harry becoming an Auror.

Good video in showing every headmaster/headmistress at Hogwarts. It's interesting to see how Hogwarts had headmistresses during times when most women weren't educated let alone having a career.

This was interesting to see all of the known ones listed together. I didn't realize there had been that many females vs males as head of the school. It shows that at least in the wizard world there wasn't a sexist mindset. There may have been other things at play like politics & such, but it seems at least gender wasn't an issue even in earlier centuries.
I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that in this world anyone can do magic and anyone is as strong as anyone else, regardless of gender here.
@@ctrain8900 Yes, when it came to magic they could show they had equal capabilities & earn equal respect. Muggle humans remained fixated more on physical strength as the measure of greatness, which meant that men were usually deemed superior.

@@rupertmiller9690 Actually, It was because unlike the muggle world Only magic battered in the wizarding world unlike the muggles's thinking that only Brute strength determines how good you are in the wizarding world it was magic. It was the same reason why Race didn't matter. This is actually one of the reasons the purebloods consider themselves better than muggles.
I love how all of the paintings are based on real paintings of people and then they just added hats and other things, in order to make them look like they were wizards.

Dexter Fortescue was the great-grandfather of Alice Fortescue, Lily Evans' best friend. She married Frank Longbottom and became an auror.
Close, but I am sure Neville married Hannah Abbott. Alice Fortescue could well be his mother though, especially if like you said she was from Lily Evans' Hogwarts era. Thus making Dexter Neville's maternal ancestor/relative.

I love the lore and Professor McGonagall was Headmistress in 2020 during the Cursed Child. I wonder how long she will stay in that position and who will take over ^_^. I hope more of the past leaders of the school are revealed in the future because it would be interesting to see the ones that have no name.

Harry potter legacy isn't canon. Some of the later years where slytherin was meant to win the house cup (they won all 7 years before harry came), depends on which house you are in. Only canon if you're in slytherin, and I'm pretty sure there could be plenty more contradictions, for example there being only like 3 classes in first year, and other things like that.

Forgot 1 headmistress after Snape when Minerva took the position
Hogwarts the game messed up Blacks headmastership, the game takes place in 1890, but he didn't become headmaster unti 1913.

I'm curious why the character of Armando Dippet is not in the movie Fantastic Beast while the movie Fantastic Beast tells the story around 1926 and only Albus was seen as a teacher at that time and did not include the character of the principal hogwart at that time.

My first guess is Walter Aragon (he was interested in fantastic beasts and he was appointed as Headmaster ''in the late 1800'')
If young Albus is present as student in the game, then we ll see for sure Basil Fronsac as headmaster.

It was Phineas Nigellus Black, some of these people are inaccurate. He was the headmaster in 1890.

Doubt any of them would ever set eyes on this video either. To me, this timeline could still work into "Hogwarts Legacy" if you had PNB be Headmaster from 1889 to 1925 (36 years to then have Dippet succeed him), and then pre-set his own predecessors in their reigns before that year *(if I am making sense)!* PS: I *also* think Phineas Nigellus Black was maligned, same going for Salazar Slytherin. Also to me that both Dumbledore and McGonagall were overrated.

This is a *really* great and detailed timeline and video, but how *now* does this said timeline work since in "Hogwarts Legacy" Phineas Nigellas Black is headmaster in the year 1890 (a good 23 years before his supposed appointment)? 😕 PS: Hope the headmaster of Hogwarts in 2024 is Pomona Sprout.

What do you mean, for you? For me, orange juice was invented 6 billion years before the universe came to exist, and that's not true. While that is actually a very logical assumption, as I'm pretty sure it's based off when mcgonnogal came to teach at hogwarts, it's really unknown when exactly dumbledore became headmaster, and even the harry potter wiki for the 2 characters disagrees, but we know it was before 1971, when he agreed to let lupin come to the school.
I think Dumbledore was the head master for more than 50 yrs. In Harry Potter and Chamber of Secrets, the memory of Tom Riddle 50 years ago, Dumbledore is already the head master.

Can someone explain? Elizabeth Burke was a Slytherin headmaster who ruled for 100+ years, so can’t have been forgotten, yet Phineas claims to be the first Slytherin Heath master? I am rather confused.
Phineas claimed that Snape was the first Slytherin headmaster after himself. Not that he himself was the first Slytherin headmaster.

I just think the game developer wanted a more established name mentioned/taken from the books/films (e.g Sirius Black talking to Harry about him whilst at the Black home). *Would make sense for their POV!* PS: I doubt any of them has seen this video. Shame though, this timeline really *did* seem good. Maybe instead have it be Black that was headmaster from 1889 to 1925 (a *whopping* 36 years), and have all the prior headmasters' eras taking place before that date.

Is he pure-blood? Check. That's it, he's part of the Yaxley, the Weasley, the Abott, the Potter, practically ever pure-blood family tree ever in Harry Potter. I'm pretty sure he's actually Sirius's grandfather or something, but when you read pure-blood, you should read inbred. Pretty much all pure-bloods are related.
A *huge* ancestor of the Black family tree. Look their tree up online. Lots of main characters in the HP saga were his descendants. *Probably* why the "Hogwarts Legacy" game developers went with him being the headmaster in 1890 instead of the timeline shown here.

Neville was pretty talented, but I don't think he'd really be interested in the position. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure he turns out to be a magizoologist, not saying they can't be headmasters, but I think he would much rather be out there playing with animals rather than making important educational decisions.

Wizards live on average 130 years. Armando Dippet was famous for pulling over 330 without any magical assistance, so it's not out of the realm of possibility someone could serve for much longer than that.
And it was a Slytherin, I'm proud of my house hehe
In the wizarding world, why people can live to about 400 or so. So it is very possible.
