For more of these older legends, Chris! Thanks for this video! 👏🏻 The Brazilian model got 114 hp from the 1.4L, and the aesthetics was a bit different too.
I remember a guy back in the day (like 20+ years ago) with a black Uno Turbo, I think somewhere in south Joburg, who was called the undertaker because he beat anyone who raced against him in street racing.
I had a MK2 Uno Turbo in red. It was the Mike Tyson of driving world. Knockout after knock out. A very rapid car indeed. I remember chasing down a 3.0 V6 Vauxhall Omega on the M62. He wasn't going anywhere...
The golf gti club had an event at at Gerotec banked oval years ago. One warm up lap, 1 hot lap, one cooling lap. My standard 1800 carb citi sport did 167 kph over the traps. A slightly tweeked uno turbo did 203. So they were quick.
Here in Chile they sold a total of 146 Uno Turbos from 1990 to 1994 (the first 10 sold were mk1’s) and it was a dream car of mine for as long as I can remember, I was raised in a Brazilian spec Uno-S (1050cc 5 speed) and I bought my ‘94 UT in 2021. Bone stock except for the VL7 turbo from a Punto GT and bright white BRAID rally wheels… it’s needed a fair share of care but I wouldn’t trade it for anything, love my white coffin
My first car was a Fiat Uno 45 Formula. Not the FIRE engine, the 903cc pushrod from the 60ies... A whole 43hp. My mate had a Turbo. Which he crashed and replaced with another one, which he also crashed and replaced it with a TVR Vixen. :(
Herman, Marius and Kevin will appreciate this video. Brings back many memories - good, bad and terrible
I had a turbocharged Fiat! I liked it when the turbo kicked in! Woo! Whooo! 😁👍😎❤️

Una leggenda!
Were never underrated, instant legend.

The classic "coffin on wheels". This, the CitiGolf, the Tazz and the Opel Corsa were the common student cars back in the day.
I miss the South African accent.
