    I love learning about the Thunderbirs! I think my son in law is a fan, so I shared this with him.

    My 2 fav TBs are 3 and 5. As a child of the late sixties/early seventies, everything for me was about SPACE. I had wished it was featured more in rescues other than comms. The new show, Thunderbirds Are Go, does an EXCELLENT job of exploring both TB5 and John and their usefuleness and commitment to IR.

      As I have been making the series I have been toying with the idea of featuring the 2015 machines alongside the 1965 machines but I didn’t think they would be of any interest….oh boy was I wrong!!!
      Thanks for watching!!!

    Congratulations on topping 1k subscribers. Your video reflections are informative and entertaining. Thunderbird 5, the eyes in the sky - I always thought it was boring when I was young, but now I realise how essential it is for directing global operations/communications. In the Thunderbirds are Go CGI series more action takes place on T5 & in space. Also has an ongoing AI story which interesting. Good message about the communication and cooperation examples in Thunderbirds as a good role model to children. I look forward to your next video😎🤩🥳

    Congratulations bro well deserved. I used to have all the Thunderbird toys as a kid. Loved that show. I always felt sorry for the kid in Thunderbirds 5! Seemed cruel keeping him isolated in space on his own even though his job was super important to the team.

      Thanks for watching @VCMR. Yeah even as a kid I thought it was unfair keeping him up there alone like that.

    i really enjoy your mellow voice and accent - as an american it seems to be more legitimate when talking about the thunderbirds!! I love british sci fi and look forward to more videos. Im really curious about 'The Secret Service" - a personal favorite of mine. Ill never forget the first time i saw the man ride around in the vicars suitcase!!

    Brilliance. I thought you'd possibly struggle to find enough information about TB5 as, although an incredibly important part of Thunderbird operations, she's very much the unsung hero, as she sees so little action in person - almost SID with a crew of one. But your work exposed me to much I didn't know, and your presentations are always interesting and very well put together. This is FAB (sorry) work, again. Bravo 😎😎😎

    A very minor observation. You see TB3 as red? I've always thought of her as orange... 🤔

    • @thedeclineandfallofbritishsci
      @thedeclineandfallofbritishsci  3 місяці тому +2

      It’s funny you say that because I see her as red in her launch silo but orange as she takes off.

    Wasnt there a thunderbird 6 in one episode?
    When i first watched these as a kid i used to wonder why T5 had 2 sofas on the end of sticks near the front

    • @thedeclineandfallofbritishsci
      @thedeclineandfallofbritishsci  2 місяці тому +1

      There was indeed, Thunderbird 6 was the Tiger moth from the film Thunderbird 6. As for the couches I had the same thought as a kid and as an adult think John put them there to sit in when Gordon visits 😂
      Thanks for watching!!!

    I vaguely recall watching Thunderbirds, but even as a kid, I couldn't suspend my disbelief much with the show. Anachronisms and bad science just got in the way.

    2:00 That episode had a rescue on the set of a sci-fi film, there weren't actual aliens in the episode

    I've always felt sorry for John and Alan, probably more than I should. It's a rotten gig and why the hell do they have to wear their uniforms when they're out there? It's always seemed like a misstep by the show to require the satellite to be manned. Two years before the show was created the world saw that signals were being bounced off Telstar. I can't believe Jeff thinks it's a good idea for two of his sons to spend half their lives there. Sorry, I'm getting worked up again.

    • @thedeclineandfallofbritishsci
      @thedeclineandfallofbritishsci  2 місяці тому

      I make an argument that keeping Alan up there 6 months out of the year makes sense in my Thunderbird 3 video but I can’t make any excuses for keeping John up there 😂 You are right though and why make us wait until UFO before giving us an unmanned satellite. Thanks for watching and feel free to get as worked up as you want that’s what the comment section for 🤣

    BTW, I think your channel name is a bit of a misnomer. At least for written Sci fi Britain remains strong, with authors like Neal Asher, Alastair Reynolds, Geoffrey Hamilton, Richard Morgan when he used to be good, Iain M Banks when he still used to write and Adran Tchaikovsky...

    • @thedeclineandfallofbritishsci
      @thedeclineandfallofbritishsci  2 місяці тому

      I will explain the name properly one day in a video as I do get a lot of questions about it but in short no I don’t think British sci-fi has fallen. The only regret I have about it is that sometimes people think that I seek to disparage science fiction when in fact it’s a genre I adore.
