My mother was born in New York City in 1912. Ivan ambition, I found myself wondering what kind of music could/would be performed on a hurdy gurdy if the wheel was spun by a motor and lithium-ion batteries, making both of the musicians' hands available for actually playing the notes!
@@goodun2974 The musician uses control of the wheel for expression, using a battery-driven wheel to free up the cranking hand could take that control away from the musician... It's low profile and it doesn't look weird or anything. now I can reach down without looking ... and temporarily turn the sound completely off without interfering with the original path of navigation. Just simply turn it back on when I'm done in the store. NOW... why don't the manufactures do that? so I don't have to... @@trevorforrester3142 , yeah, I'm with ya! I have modified lots of my own tools and devices over the years, such as putting longer cords on my older power tools, adding power indicator lights or LEDs or illuminated switches to electrical devices and power strips that don't have them, adding modular power-inlet jacks to devices that were formerly hardwired or only ran off of batteries, changing knobs to types that aree easier to see and use, and so on. A mute button on my wife's GPS would be helpfull, especially when she calls me from the car and the device is yammering away in the background (a mute button on my wife might occasionally be useful, and I'm sure she'd say the same about me!). By the way, I truly hate how the power adapter jacks on virtually *everything* these days has been changed to the same type of Mini USB jacks that we find on our smartphones. Those flimsy jacks, especially when used on a GPS device that might suddenly slide off the dash or that gets unplugged frequently and stashed under the seat or in the trunk to deter theft, are all too easy to break from frequent connection cycles or when the cable gets yanked on, and nearly impossible to swap out or repair (even for me, an electronics technician with excellent soldering skills!). I secured the cable and connector to the back of the GPS with self- adhesive tie-wrap buttons and cable ties, so that the worst that can happen is the power cable fails from repeated flexing rather than the jack on the device failing. I wish manufacturers of Audio-Video amplifiers and receivers and so on would design the HDMI inputs with a sleeve or tunnel surround the jacks so that the HDMI connector can't be torqued sideways. Those connectors become intermittent or fail frequently and replacing them is nearly impossible. It's just a terrible design. Planned obsolescence that causes so many devices to be thrown out prematurely, clogging landfills and wasting fossil fuel energy and mined materials.

At 2:30, "as you may have noticed, I now have 8 sympathetic strings". I can pick up a 6-stringed guitar and none of the strings are particularly "sympathetic" to me, lol !
Could you angle the frame where your volume dials are? For example, where they are seems like a hassel to reach. Could you place them on a 45° angle flat surface to the bridge, instead of a flat surface 90° from the bridge.
Wish you were in Denver Colorado. I would put every bit of my talent toward your music. I love your spirit, your heart and your talent, your passion for playing your instrument and your singing. Everything about you touches my soul.

That is a beautiful instrument. The Green Stain works perfectly well on your Hurdy Gurdy . They sound ' alive ' when being played . As if they are singing of melancholy.
You change them, they get worn out. Regular housecats works fine. But if you feel like getting an extra fancy tune you can always go with a Bengal. That is if your wallet permits!
The Devil went down to Georgia. He was lookin' for a soul to steal. He was in a bind 'cause he was way behind. He was willing to make a deal When he came across this young woman typin' on a gurdy and playin' it hot. And the Devil jumped upon a hickory stump and said "Girl, let me tell you what."

This is amazing! This exists! my day is complete!
Seeing your excitement for your new instrument is amazing.
I love ginger ❤️
I REALLY WANT TO PLAY A HURDY GURDY!
Copernicaso Have enough money to buy a car and you'll be halfway there.
Yep. Start saving. They're not cheap.
Look, I'm a classical guitarist and so clicked on the video because I'm interested in musical instruments. However having said that. I found myself staying because of the music in your voice.
Very cool instrument. I used to watch players in Germany. It was the first place I ever saw a hurdy gurdy. Fab.
... and you JUST earned a new subscriber! 🎶💙🎶
🤘🎭🤘
At 2:30, "as you may have noticed, I now have 8 sympathetic strings". I can pick up a 6-stringed guitar and
none of the strings are particularly "sympathetic" to me, lol !
When do We get to hear You play it?
this would be perfect for my blues metal ambient project.
The best part = 3:40
Sometimes, when you play alot.
The handle starts to bend abit.. ya'll know the rest :)
Real purdy.
you have a curious accent. Are you you a German who lives in Ireland?
Ní mór dom Gearmáinis a labhairt....
@Josh Marino that would be hilarious
@@FraktalEndlevel She answered that question in a Q&A, and if I remember correctly, she actually did live in Ireland for a while.
You RACIST ASSHOLE!!
it's fascinating to me as well, even as musically pleasing as the instrument
Wow Patty I thought I was special when I learned to play guitar. You certainly have me beat. I am so impressed.
Could you angle the frame where your volume dials are?
For example, where they are seems like a hassel to reach. Could you place them on a 45° angle flat surface to the bridge, instead of a flat surface 90° from the bridge.
Ya, what Fulgrim said...
Wish you were in Denver Colorado. I would put every bit of my talent toward your music. I love your spirit, your heart and your talent, your passion for playing your instrument and your singing. Everything about you touches my soul.
This looks like a sci fi spaceship!
Sea of Thieves brought me to your amazing channel, you rock!
Can you please play this song from Sea of Thieves? Name of song is Grogg Mayles
Ooh yeah! I´d love to hear that.
The same brought me here too and than I´ve heared that she is german like me
Personally I'd love to hear the black sails theme in her own rendition
+Captain Wade That would be great.
All of them are nice (: I love Becalmed :D
I think that anyone who can master this instrument has something extra going on in their brain, and I don't know if it's a good or bad thing.
This is the instrument I have finally set my heart on the one I have seen is a deep blue colour I cannot wait to get it.. my neighbours are gonna love me 😆
That is a beautiful instrument. The Green Stain works perfectly well on your Hurdy Gurdy . They sound ' alive ' when being played . As if they are singing of melancholy.
what a kool instrument. Love Ur music
What kind of cat lives inside?
no idea but its real pissed
Traumatised
LOL !
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
He was willing to make a deal
When he came across this young woman typin' on a gurdy and playin' it hot.
And the Devil jumped upon a hickory stump and said "Girl, let me tell you what."
That instrument is impressive, but your voice with your accent is the true music to my ears.
Beautiful Gurdy, and a FABULOUS instrument. I hang my measly 6 string knowledge with lowered head. Kudos and CONGRATS!!!!
They used that contraption as a telephone in the olden times.
i want to see black sabbath play one of these ! lol
Instead of the Hurdy Gurdy man she's the Hurdy Gurdy woman singing songs of love...
The Purdy Hurdy Gurdy Girly.
Have you tried like glow worms they're for shotguns originally but they light up not like emit light but reflect it pretty well it'd be worth looking up something like that for seeing the octaves or notes whatever the term is in different lighting
No' only amazin' but quite 'umorous to boot! Made me day!
I really want a Hurdy Gurdy now! Do you sell them or know where I can get a nice one? "Sea of Thieves" kinda sparked me intrest haha!
"Just call your local Luthier". LMAO
