You Freaking Rock! Thank you! You made this so simple and you got to the point without all the lip service. Thank you, I need this for Christian hip-hop and Christian trap & rap.
Informative video, thanks. Would this be good for making indie/punk drums for song ideas on protools first? I am just looking for a cheap, intuitive way to lay down drums. Also, can you make good fills on this?
I do not think you would replace your punk rock drummer with this. It would be good for keeping a beat while you practice alone before band practice. it is great for dance music etc..
I honestly only made this to show kids in my Pro Tools class how to use the built-in instruments. I wouldn't use it myself. I'm mostly a Logic User and it has much better drum sequencing tools built in. If you do want something much better and want to use Pro Tools I'd probably use something like addictive drums or similar. You'll get much more variety, realism, and even drum programming help. www.pianodreamers.com/best-drum-vst-plugins/
Yes, you can change the tempo using the transport's (the thing that has the play, rewind, and record buttons) tempo. This is the best way to do it because it's the master tempo for all of your tracks. If you don't see the transport, you can go to Window>Transport. If you don't see the tempo controls in the transport, click on the disclosure triangle in the top right of the transport and enable "MIDI Controls." You can then drag the tempo up and down or type in your desired tempo (speed). ua-cam.com/video/UZ_FN6-wTUg/v-deo.html
Should be in C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\Pro Tools or equivalent on Mac. Just so you know though, you can't change the default sounds. You're limited to what they give you. You can however create a MIDI pattern on a Boom track (in the track in the edit window and not on the boom sequencer itself), then later you can reassign that MIDI pattern to other drum sounds.
Cool video! But I have a big issue with boom; the preset sound banks are kinda boring and not particularly useful. Is there a way to get more/new sounds into boom, other than the factory ones? Or do I just forget boom and use other tools? If you guys have some tips, I would love to hear them :) Thx
You can't really do it. If you want to fake it in the actual boom pattern maker, you can click on the "triplets button." This will make 3 notes per quarter note. www.dropbox.com/s/w0q3hysobl1j9v2/Screenshot%202020-06-09%2000.22.06.png?dl=0. It isn't ideal. The best way is to not make the pattern in the pattern maker, but rather change the time signature in Pro Tools, and enter the notes into the Pro Tools MIDI clip.
Yep. They are rampant and I didn't keep enough distance, use a pop filter, or anything else like that. It was quickly made with only a narrow practical goal, and I honestly never expected more than about 30 people to be viewing it. Hope you can survive the mic sound! :-)

@@lionheartglass Yea thanks I had actually gotten this and then returned it because I didn't know it was only electronic drums.

hi, Thanks for the video. Is there a way to control tempo other then where it says speed? Thanks.

Unfortunately, I recommend forgetting Boom and just using something else. Maybe do a search for software ones such as "vst step sequencer."
hello! i have a question. if i am making a song in 3/4, how can i use only 12 steps?
hi!! . how can I make a pattern in 3/4. the default program works in 4/4. Where can I change the swing from groove in boom? thanks !!
