SpaceMelt 2016 (Behind the Scenes) - MV43

Michael Markowsky documents the set-up and aftermath of SpaceMelt's performance with Mind of a Snail at Renegade Studios' "The Shop," which took place on Friday, February 12th, 2016. **NOTE: a separate video documenting the performance itself will be uploaded very soon!**
Experimental art+music collective "SpaceMelt" was formed by visual artist Michael Markowsky (painting and sculpture) and musicians Sam Davidson (clarinet & EWI) and Terri Hron (recorder) at the Banff Centre in 2009 and aims to bring together diverse creative talent, push the boundaries of the spaces they inhabit and to test the very definition of performance.
This year’s feature collaborator was critically-acclaimed shadow puppet troupe "Mind of a Snail," who have thrilled audiences across North America! Formed in 2003, the duo of Chloé Ziner and Jessica Gabriel have won numerous awards including the the Best of Fest at the Edmonton Fringe Festival in 2015, and Patron’s Pick at the Vancouver, Toronto and Winnipeg Fringe Festivals in 2014.
Additional guest performers included renowned composer and electronics musician Giorgio Magnanensi, vocalist Camille Hesketh, percussionist Ben Brown, and french horn player Micajah Sturgess.
