    Listen, it’s true that Bill screwed up at the end. He killed the dynasty. That being said, he also built the dynasty. He deserves the praise for his successes. This evening was about a celebration, it wasn’t a time for negativity.

      Now it is the next generation to rebuild. I hope but if it was that easy it would have been done elsewhere. Blessed we had been offense and defense minds. Each got to see how the other perceived them through the others eyes

      This is where you people are crazy. The dynasty ended. Why do you think they are so easy to do? They really had 2 separate dynasties with a 10 year period in between of being a top team, but couldn't win. There are very few dynasties in the NFL and the Pats had 2 under Belichick. He architected and ran everything and coached his ass of for 20 years. The 2nd dynasty had gotten old, it was over. You keep it together as long as you can, but NFL players don't have long shelf lives. In 2019, it was clear they would not win more. In 2018, they barely pulled it off. 2nd dynasty over, time to rebuild.
      This rebuild would clearly be far more difficult because your star qb is in his 40s. Keeping Brady would be nice, but they weren't going to win in 2020 and probably have no chance in 2021. Do you keep Brady for possibly a shot in 2022 when he is entering his late 40s? Or do you try to find the next guy immediately? They tried to get the next guy, but finding a top qb is very, very tough. They took a shot on Mac Jones who Belichick didn't even want. It failed miserably because Mac Jones doesn't have the talent for the NFL. Weak arm, doesn't run, extremely inconsistent and nowhere near as smart as hoped. He just isn't any good. Cam Newton was nothing but a placeholder in 2020 when they had no money to spend, they knew it would be a wasted year. Teams can't compete, especially now with all the qb-friendly rules, without a top qb. Basically, Belichick cannot do much until they find that guy but he can't manufacture him out of nothing. Absurd that people think it should be so easy. And the 4-13 was a testament to how horrible Mac played and what a complete loser he was. Any 1/2 decent guy would have been close to .500. I've never seen a qb play so badly and lose so many games by himself in a single season before. Mostly because they would have been benched, but we know that Kraft demanded that Mac Jones get every possible opportunity. People need to smarten up and see that Kraft has been creating issues for years. It would be tough anyway, but meddling owners can make things far worse.

    Good for the organization comment was completely irrelevant. It was purely between the fans and Belichick. Nothing to do with the organization and nothing related to media members. We know that media members like their asses kissed by the like of Lou Gorman no matter how poor a job he did. And they don't like successful people that don't need them. The fans have always loved Belichick. Only a few ignorant fans that know nothing but what they hear on the radio have any negative thoughts.

    Without Brady, Belichick aint getting near 9 Super Bowls as a HC but Brady aint winning most of those 6 without Belichick's defenses. And that isn't remotely up for debate, if you followed the Patriots closely. Several of those were absolute defensive masterpieces by BB.

    Pats fans should be able to separate the success from the failure. For the first 15 years or so, there was method to BB's madness. For the years since then, not at all, at least with the offense and draft picks. In the documentary, BB had ample opportunity to explain some of his questionable decisions. He didn't, either because of arrogance, or that he had no good reason for some of those decisions. Nevertheless, he deserved that ovation.

  • @hellacrunk1
    @hellacrunk1 2 місяці тому

    The Pats need to move forward to the future, that’s obvious. In retrospect, it would’ve been really cool to see both Bill and Tom both say “it’s been real” after that Rams Super Bowl of the ‘18 season, and everyone rode off into the sunset, Hollywood feel-good ending.
    Real life dictated it to go differently, and that is what it is. We can’t lose sight of 20 years of greatness because we’re salty it wasn’t like 23 years….and honestly, I think post-‘18 seasons were going to be pretty lean, with or without Brady. I feel like we just assume there were going to be more Super Bowls, and I don’t think that’s true at all.
    Despite not being Belichick’s intent, the Pats are in GREAT shape to rebuild. You have to have this, these dark days, to be in position to draft your future core. Tom Brady was lightning in a bottle. We’re not just going to find a late round diamond at QB again, let’s get serious. I see people already suggesting Joe Milton is going to repeat history because he was a 6th rounder like Brady….I don’t really listen to much sports talk BECAUSE OF dummies like that, and I feel bad for the hosts having to humor calls like that.
    Drake Maye will hopefully pan out, but he’s the kind of guy you need to be taking shots on to build for the future, not hoping you luck out and the GOAT gets passed on by every team (including yours) and falls into your lap at #199, and we act like it was the brilliant plan all along, lmao.
    Anyway, I say all that to say that being bad and picking extremely high in the draft is exactly what the Pats need to do, unless you want to live in .500 purgatory for the next decade or so. You NEED Drake Maye, you NEED that top LT or Edge rusher in the Top 3 next year, or you NEED that haul of picks for your #1 pick if you have the luxury of not being QB-thirsty.
    So everyone chill, clap it up for both Brady AND Belichick. We’re in a new era, and for closure’s sake, let’s drop all the “was it Bill or Tom?” nonsense, and just appreciate that we saw the best run of professional football that any fan base has ever seen in the history of the sport. It does us no good to harbor resentment towards our former legends.
