Absolutely love your videos. My Grandfather was from Alessandria Della Rocca 10k north of Cianciana. You transported us back to several visits of the area and made this cold rainy day in Minnesota a little brighter
What a nice surprise! Thank you for featuring the town where I was born in 1950. My family emigrated to Belgium in 1951 where my father worked in the coal mines. We emigrated to Canada a few years later.
I was born there in 1948 came to US in 1956 my late father worked in the mines as a young child at the age of 7 to help support his family took my family back , to visit my family , they loved cianciana and meeting my cousins . I have many fond memories of growing up there .I love America but my heart is in cianciana.
Eszter and Alford what a great video you produced of my grandfather, grandmother and uncle Felix’s hometown. I was in Cianciana on three occasions starting in 1959 as a young US army soldier. The last time was when I took my dad’ Phillip, it was his first and only trip in 1982 as he died 18 months later. Your video allowed me to revisit many places where I had been including the church where the relatives I mentioned were baptized and my nonno and nonna were married. What the two of you do is professional and entraining. I can’t wait for my children, grandchildren and many cousins to see our town for the first time. Thanks for a job well done. Vito P. (Guida) Weeda.
OH VIto THANK YOU SO MUCH! It is a huge please and your note just made me super happy ! Im thrilled we were able to bring you Cianciana once again! BTW Which church were you nonno and nonna married in ?
Thank you for bringing this UA-cam video to us! Cianciana is a town I’d like to visit with it’s rich history, lovely people and beautiful town. Much appreciation Alfred, Eszter and You, Me & Sicily!
A great episode of a town we would never get to see. Also the history of the sulfur mining was very interesting. It just adds to the history of Sicily you are bringing to the world.
My Great-grandparents came from a similar town, Casteltermini. My great-grandfather worked in the mines as a child. The conditions were as you described. Small children worked the mines so they could get into the smallest crevices. That had to be terrifying. I was told how they were treated like animals working with few clothes so as not to wear out what little they had to wear.
Beautiful, thank you for making such wonderful videos, so much history and beauty. The stories of the old times need to be remembered ❤️ your videos will keep them going always ❤️ bravissimi!
Paolo I grew up in Elm Grove, WV. My Nonno & Nonna are from Cianciana. There were Sanzeri's who lived there! Janet & Sam were their first names! I haven't been to Sicily/Italy yet, shame on me!
Alfred and Eszter have you gone to Bivona, Sicily? It's near Cianciana. In Bivona, they have what's called a peach festival around the middle or late August. On September 4th? they celebrate Santa Rosalia.
Jon Bon Jovi's (Bongiovi) grandfather's side of the family come from Cianciana (not Sciacca). His great grandmother comes from a town, just south of Ciaciana, called Cattolica Eraclea. Another prominent individual that came from Cianciana is from the underworld. They moved to Tampa, is the Trafficante Family.
I think I've found my retirement home. Looks like it has everything I need , friendly neighbors, clear mountain air, beach not far away. No freezing cold mornings, and all within my budget.
