Thanks for watching :) when I just plugged in and used the camera app in windows 10 it seemed pretty decent minimal lag hope that helps but I did not actually use it for skype calling or anything like that.

Yes, that's right. I can't set a date or time. Even if I change one digit it stays the same. The code is this: "20180115235959 Y". So the stamped date and time is this: "2018/02/17 18:54:42". The only thing I got right is the "Y" which stands for the file being stamped, or "N" for not.

The night vision light isn't visible to your eyes shows up on camera for some reason. Maybe you could see it faintly, the battery lasts for about 40-50mins
The lights are for night vision and can't really be seem with the naked eye. I think its a weal infrared if my memory is correct. I wouldn't recommend this for security its more a toy or for fun.
charge time is about an hour and half, recording time is about 50-60mintues

On the SQ11, when you plug the camera into your computer and open the SD card you will see a file named TIMERSET. Open that and change the Y at the end to N, hope that helps for the SQ12
Derren Mead Not necessarily they are both good camers I do prefer this one. The main reason I like it more is the wider field of view. Other then that your not missing out on alot. It is better then the SQ11 in my opinion.
Hi Danny. Good review brother. I've got a question, i've just got mine ytd. Charged it. Tried to power it on. Blue light keeps on for 5 seconds then turn into blinking blueish-red light then turn off.. ive tried to quick start recording while its steady blue light..it does the 5 quick blinking then the lights go off(its recording) then aftr abt 9-10 secs blueish-red blinkin comes again then the unit just turn off by itself. Is my unit faulty or something? Any tips how to fix this? Thanks in advance.
This sounds like either two things its not holding charge and turning off or it does not like the microsd. If its the microsd try formatting it to a different format or trying another. To test if it is the battery remember you can record will it is charging so try that and see if it stays on and records when its plugged into a charger or powerbank. Thanks for watching (:
For those of you who think that the night vision LED's aren't working: Get your smart phone and turn the video camera on. Point the SQ12 at your cell phone video camera and turn the LED's on. You should be able to see them on the screen of your cell phone. NOTE: I have not tried this with an SQ12, so I can't confirm if it works. I have done this with my TV Remote Control - it works for that. Maybe someone here can confirm this?
I have a small security issue and am looking for a low cost camera which will record in darkness. The problem is the camera must not be seen. So do the LEDs glow red in the dark or are they the better quality LEDs (940nm) that do not show (glow) in the dark?Thank you.

Sounds good. As long as there is no tell tale red glow. Only required to cover 1 to 2 mts Guess using 940nm LEDs. I have CCTV cams with 940s @ night you can see everything but no one can see the cameras.Thank you.

Its not that it won't work its a cheap device so its more for fun I would not rely on it for something like that. You could use this or rig up a cheap action camera to a powerbank to keep it powered. Depends where you will be hiding it

Not automatically no, but you can start the recording and when the camera dies it should save the clip. If you leave it plugged in and charging it should just film until the sd is full.
I want to monitor and record onto the SD card, whenever someone approaches my front door. Will the sq 11 or 12 do this. I do not want to record continuously, just when motion is sensed, then stop when motion stops. Also will it sense outside motion from inside, through a glass window?

You can't see the lights come on with your naked eye try checking through a smartphone camera. Once night vision is on you then also have to hit record on the Sq12

I think you will need a better setup for something like this. This is old now I haven't reviewed any newer models either.
