This was filmed at the beginning of December. The WILTY Christmas special was filmed in June! Jackie Weaver is a woman who was sent to oversee a local council meeting - with the reaction you saw. Wetherspoons is a pub chain which serves cheap alcohol and doesn't treat their staff well.

Jonathon Ross is basically one of, if not the most legendary talk/comedy show hosts in UK since, I think, late 80s 'till today. You can expect he pretty much knows everything (and probably has interviewed most of the people questions are about). He knows basically every single famous person in UK, and can completely take or make a joke on his behalf (which makes him perfect with Jimmy).
An interesting way to "get" the extent of that is Song for Wossy by Tim Minchin (Tim Minchin has been on a few QI boards himself).

A quick note on the "Uncle" thing. I don't know if this translates to America, but I'm from the same region as Guz and have spent a fair amount of time off-continent. Both South-Saharan African and Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi peoples in the UK tend to refer to any family friend above their age as "Uncle" or "Auntie". It is a sign of genuine respect.
However, two things, in the UK, the idea of a "slighty dodgy uncle" is quite well-known and is the trope that Guz is using, e.g. the "Uncle from Karachi that interferes with goats". Second, as someone who often has to document diverse families and draw up genograms (court papers showing family trees and people around the family) IT IS A NIGHTMARE working out who is actually a blood relation when 15 "Aunties" turn up!!!

So Handforth Parish Council didn't make it across the pond? It's the very local level of local government, and was completely disfunctional. (Chair refused to call a meeting for months, and then tried to fire the clerk for not attending the meetings which hadn't happened, among other things.) Jackie Weaver was brought in by the county council to support the parish council and sort them out. She did have the authority.
No one would have known about it, because no one attends parish council meetings, except that a teenage politics student happened to be watching and tweeted about it.

I'm back watching this, can't remember commenting or watching lol. But the fake names reminded me of a few weeks back I was in a supermarket and there was an announcement over the speaker system saying there was a car blocking the parking lot and it's number plate was NE14ABJ .
'Mike Hunt' is the classic from the Porky's movie. But we used allsorts of others like 'Warren Peace', 'Phil McCrack', 'Sue Zaffone'. I don't have to go through them all we all know them all.
But, 'Sophie Kingood' was always my favourite.
Once when I was assistant manager in a supermarket me and the manager, Ray, was just getting ready to close up when I found a wallet on the floor, there wasn't much ID inside but there was 2 credit cards. The name on them was "Mr J Meoff". Me and Ray were bent double with laughter and hoping that his first name was Jack.
Unfortunately just as we were leaving a James Meoff called the store to ask about his lost wallet.

Happy 2022 Neil - thank you for keeping us entertained. Jonathan Ross has been on the TV in the UK for many years hosting late night chat shows, I'm now scratching my head wondering when, how and why? He is a good chat show host - he's knowledgable, knows Film and TV and is good at what he does The only snippets I know for sure is that he is married to Jane Goldman (Writer/Producer) - I only know from the tabloids back in the day that Jonathan married Jane when she was 18 (big tabloid news at the time) they've been happily married for 33 years. His older brother is Paul Ross, who I can remember being a presenter on Channel 4's The Big Breakfast. I haven't heard anything about Paul Ross in years - Jonathan is however a national name.

A long while back I gt interested in a Japanese Manga thing. A girl friend told me about it and even though I was never into anything comic book or Japanese animation I did get hooked on this 1 thing. So I started to buy all the figures and the books, a watch, key chains. It's like 15 years on and I have no interest in it anymore but I'm compelled to keep buying the new stuff just because I can not face having an incomplete collection. It's got passed the point of no return. I have everything ever made related to this one thing. A couple of years ago I was going through used shop prices and ebay items adding up what everything I had was worth. It's in the thousands and it made me a little bit sick. It's like £2500 of crap action figures and books in a language I can't read. It's all still in boxes packed away in a wardrobe. And I know that if I sell it I will have to sell it all at once and no one in their right mind would pay £2500 for it all. I've actually got them all insured and I'm hoping they all get stolen or a bust water pipe ruins them all. Hahaha

I liked seeing James Acaster but it’s really not the same without Richard Ayoade. I think it’s only Jonathan Ross that’s an Original competitor.
It became abundantly clear that Judy has never watched this show, I don’t like that, it’s something that annoys me greatly. It surely doesn’t take long to do a speck of research before appearing on TV.
Guz's use of ''Uncle" to refer to people is from Indian and Pakistani culture. It's just a very polite way of referring to any older gentleman. When I visit India, we address the shop owner as Uncle if we want to ask a question for example. Guz likes to share his British-Asian culture.

Jonathan Ross is the only original competitor in the sense that he was on the first BFQotY (2004). But Ayoade, though very popular, was not an original competitor - he first appeared on the seventh BFQotY (2010). Though he has been on all of them from 2012-2020.
Fun fact - the first show without any of the original contestants was 2008.

I was there for the recording of this and I'm afraid to say I left half way in. The seating was uncomfortably small for a tall person, the seats had bin bags on them that we couldn't remove. You usually get a chance to stand up + stretch your legs for a couple of mins when they do the 'after the break', but they just powered straight through and I couldn't take it... and honestly the cast was lacking a show stealing team, one to throw a spanner in the works and make the whole thing more engaging... Fielding, Vegas, Mitchel, Ayoade, Mack... just someone who can hold the show up. Because of how long it is you don't just get away with a mid tier line-up and keep peoples attention. It's a shame because of all the panel shows I've gone to watch recorded this year I was most excited for this and it was the worst of the lot!

Everyone saying they missed Noel Fielding and Richard Ayoade, I missed Jon Snow's terrible dancing. Especially given he left C4 News this last Christmas, so we probably won't see any more of them 😔

Very, very late to the party, but House of Gucci was an absolute disaster. The acting was atrocious. the script wasn't much better. the music sounded as if they'd forgotten about it and just used Ridley Scott's playlist. When we saw it we honestly thought the whole thing was a joke.
