Also for those who do know eyes: SMILE is actually less invasive than LASIK, but is NOT FOR anyone with astigmatism. I have astigmatism, and myopia, so I am not eligible in any way, shape, or form, for SMILE. I'm only making sure people know this because yeah, it's really awesome SMILE exists since it's a medical wonder and scientific improvement in optometry, but it's not for everyone.

I looked it up because I have astigmatism and myopia as well but what I found is that the SMILE treatment is meant for myopia and astigmatism in particular and nothing else (though they're working on it).
I got glasses recently after not having glasses in 4+ years and I can see everything perfectly with them I love them also that tiktok at the end i love so much because the music is from spongebob xd

For me I don't need LASIK surgery but I only wear my glasses temporarily because when I'm in class, I need to see what's written on the board or powerpoints.
Im in a point where i've only had to wear glasses for like 4-5 years, used to have good vision but i dont have truly bad eyesight compared to some people, and i feel like doing surgery wouldnt be the best idea for me

Not to insult or hurt anyone but I’m great full I can see normally. And hey my grandpa also got eye surgery and now he can see one million times better. Science is a blessing

Glad to hear your eyesight has improved since the surgery. I've always wondered what it's like about getting any sort of eye surgery, most likely laser eye surgery. But after you explained it, it doesn't sound too bad. And as always, great video! Much love!
Can't afford any vision corrective surgery right now, so recently got contacts as a very close approximation and tested it for fursuiting.
Having 2 less surfaces that can fog up or need babying during fursuit is revolutionary, I tell you. Being able to actually SEE and not put as much burden on your handler is so liberating.

When he was talking about incisions for the eyeball I look back on dead space 2 and I remembered garrison level where you stick a needle in your eye and trust me it's not fine it's actually pretty nerve-racking in hey Majura got lucky that he had his eyeball numbed cos and that part of the game your eyeball is not numbed and Isaac can feel it going through his eyeball and into his brain now that's horrible and horrifying 😱😟

Hey, Kyle! Congrats on the successful eye surgery! Yay! I feel very happy for you. Hopefully you'll feel better at cons without wearing the glasses or like you said you'll wear them because they look cute.

I got lasik many years ago. No regrets.
The surgery itself is no big deal. The aftermath is the hard part. I had light sensitivity for a few days, had to sit in my room in the dark or wear sunglasses outside. I couldn't even be on the computer iwthout giving my eyes a break every few minutes. The other tough part is there's a lot of discomfort for a while because the front of your eye is uneven so it feels like a hair in your eye that you can't get rid of. They thankfully give numbing drops for that which I used a lot before my eyes finally were settled and now, no problems whatsoever.
Also another option would be contacts. I switch between glasses and contacts. I specifically always try to use contacts with my VR headset (though I'd like to get prescription lens inserts for that too). If you're paying out of pocket anyway you might be better off to at least try contacts.

Quite a story. LASIK (compared to SMILE that you went for) can not always go how it's intended. One of my friends years ago had LASIK surgery, then had to wear those goggles for about a few or so days, but nonetheless became able to see without the need for glasses or contacts. However, in the past couple years ago at least, he just went back to wearing glasses but only from one of his eyes did his vision start going bad again. Other than that, always nice that you can wear finally your fursuit head properly and still be able to see without the need for glasses, and go to a provider that's more trustworthy than the leading one. For 31 years of my life, I however compared to lots of people still haven't had a decline in vision or any need for glasses or contacts.

That’s exactly why I got a prescription for contact lenses many years ago, so that when I get a fursuit I would be able to see without glasses. Now I’m just still waiting to get a freakin’ fursuit!
I heard that lenses make your eyes dry faster and it may be annoying. Is that true ?
@@nightdog4183 Only partly true, in my experience. When you first get contacts it takes a little while for your eyes to get used to the sensation of something sitting on the surface. That can cause some irritation until they get accustomed (more below). And I do have to use rewetting drops a couple times a day because it'll start to feel like a layer of mucus over my eyes, but the drops clear that right up. Now, if you're used to wearing glasses, you'll find that your eyes are affected by air currents more than when you wore glasses which block most air movement. That can make them feel dry, but there again it's no big deal to put a drop in each eye.
When it comes to annoying irritation, especially when you're trying on contacts for the first time, it's so important to have absolutely clean hands. When I went through the "training" that the glasses place provided for learning how to put in and remove contacts, they had me wash my hands and then dry them with a paper towel. Big mistake, as that left microscopic bits of lint (ie. paper fibers, ie. wood pulp) on my fingers, which transferred to the contacts and felt like logs in my eyes. Cloth towels do the same thing. I found that washing my hands immediately before touching the contacts and leaving my hands wet pretty much eliminated that problem. Same for removing them, because any lint or fibers your fingers leave on the contacts will be there later when you put them back in. There's a little bit of a learning curve with contacts but it's really not bad at all. And if you were wearing them while fursuiting, there's nothing to steam up or get smudged inside the fursuit head, plus if your eyesight is bad it's far better than going with no corrective lenses at all. (And when getting the fursuit made, it can be designed to get the eye holes closer to your eyes for a wider field of vision.)

I got SMILE in July and it is great to see without glasses and wear sunglasses. I still use eye drops daily to moisture my eyes but I will propably can leave those out in a few months.

I have glasses but I wear contacts also but I prefer my contacts over glasses.
I’ve had an astigmatism my entire life and basically have to favor one side heavily over the other. It’s been almost 10 years since the last time I got my eyes checked or wore glasses, but that might change soon. I just think they’re cute, and I’d also like to be able to read easier.

I'm not old enough for LASIK but wanted to do LASIK when my eyes are stable but apparently LASIK can end up ruining your eyes later, so I'm kinda just wondering if I should do it or not!? I definitely wish I can stop wearing glasses and had good vision again, but is it bad to do Lasik/Smile? Hopefully a better version without a chance of ruining your eyes / new technology is out when I'm older.

This kind of thing would be impossible for me because my eyes have involuntary twitching muscles. I can see straight just fine. But my eyes will shake if I move them left or right, as if trying to reset to the straight position. The more I try to focus, the more they shake.

I don’t like when people who don’t need glasses wear them, just rubs me the wrong way. It’s like wearing a cast without needing it, or wearing braces because they look cool. I‘ve been in situations where I’ve wanted to trade glasses with someone to see who has worse vision and sometimes those people hand me glasses that are not prescription lenses and that makes me very unhappy. I’m not going to police what people can and can’t wear, but I will judge.
