You didn't calibrate the the two potentiometers near the spindle motor with an oscilloscope to see that healthy sinewave while playing a CD-R. Is this necessary?
Hey there! Great video all together! Can you tell me what kind of soldering iron you have! I’m looking to get one for this smaller boards and such the Walmart one I have is too unspecificn
Very informative tutorial. My NAD 512i cd player plays discs but makes a very audible rubbing / scratching sound that appears to come from the clamping magnet area. Examining the disc spinning, I'm not seeing it contacting the cd tray or laser. I've taken the chucking mechanism apart, examined any possible rough spots and sanded all spinning contact areas with 1500 grit sandpaper, cleaned it yet the noise persists. The spindle motor was tested by itself and spins freely with zero noise. I'm thinking maybe it is the spindle motor that's faulty but only shows when under load playing a disc. I've ordered a replacement spindle motor and hope that corrects the issue. Another possibility is that the cd support platter on the spindle is at the wrong height but it appears original and untouched or maybe the support chassis is slightly asymmetrical but it appears level and straight with no noticeable bends. It's a mystery if the new motor doesn't fix it! 🤔
I have had many issues with the non adjustable clamp portion that suspends the magnets dimensionally changing over time. Sometimes I had to add a shim (washer) between the top cover and the chassis to slightly add tension to the clamping mechanism and the case.
hola muy buen video yo tengo un sony de 5 discos que no reproduce que podrá ser y el equipo tengo que golpearlo para que se active el re lay y se prenda normal?
Hi I'm new to your channel. Great videos! Can you please advise how to remove the plastic gear to the motor assembly that opens the carousel. I need to replace mine some of the teeth are broken and I'm unsure of how to remove gear from its pin.
Me in my vcd player have no display but the they had a power color red.when i plug in second time it will flash the display when i press power on it the cd player is not working 3 cd changer is my player but it is not spinning or open the indicator lights all green what is the problem with my sony vcd player can you help me please thanks🙂
Got a c305 where sometimes I can’t get the tray to open or read discs , when that happens I have to turn it off then back on and quickly open the tray , if they tray opens it will also spins disc but won’t read it , I removed the green ribbon cable that goes from the main board to the laser board and I found one of the leads has a cut internally, I reinstalled it and magically it started to read and play discs even with the cut in the cable , but I still sometimes get that problem where it won’t read the disc and open the tray unless o turn it off
O nome do vídeo é "How to make music CD player at home"!
My Sony 315 finds a CD in the tray and plays it but will not advance to the next CD even if I hit the next disc button. It also will not open the tray after playing the disc unless I power it down and power it back up then it opens automatically. At one point the tray wouldn't close and I pushed it in. I know I shouldn't have done that. There may be other issues but haven't gotten further. Could this be a ribbon cable problem and an alignment issue because I forced the tray closed? Thx for any suggestions.
Does the display show that discs are present in all of the slots? if the optical IR emitter and detector does not see a disc than that slot is removed from the queue and you can not access it. It does the test when the tray is closed and the results are final until the tray is opened and closed again.
What cable do you need? Usually if you measure the length and pin spacing with the number of conductors you can find generic replacements on eBay or amazon.
The bottom green cable has a notch on one end that goes from the mainboard to the laser unit! The other cables are no problem to replicate but this puppy is quite delicate impossible to solder as the tracks are microns thick!
just bought one yesterday at a tag sale. It did not have a remote ( all the ones on ebay do not say 305, so not sure if we can even buy one? ) and while I was looking for the model number to try and buy a remote for My wife, I lifted up the back to take a photo and a disc came off the tray and now the drawer will not come out. Hope You can advise before She kills Me !!! Thank You
On the bottom side there is a screwdriver slot that will allow you to manually open and close the drawer, take the top off and unjam any discs you see then open the drawer and do the same.
@@norcal715 I took the two screws off the top and it slid out and opened and I was able to remove all 5 discs and get the draw to open. Only thing different now is disk one light does not show up and I may have put it in wrong or something but at least the other 4 work. Thanks for Your help !!!
That tells me that the issue is with the digital to analog converter or a missing power supply problem to the digital to analog converter (most likely)
I've just been asked to look at a Sony cdp500m 5 disc player. I think the spindle motor might be gone because it can locate which position the disc is in. But when it tries to read it,it just spins and spins it seems slow and if I gently touch the CD it stops turning only for it to carry on when in move my finger away. It always indicates 0 on the display but will advance the track number when I push the track forward button, but is still just spinning the same all the time. I saw that your one stopped and said no disc after a little while whereas this one doesn't and if I press open it releases the disc from the drive but it's still spinning at that point in the cradle until the friction of disc on plastic abruptly stops it. Glad it wasn't a favourite CD lol. Could this one be the motor ?
didn't know you could buy replacement spindle motors .... where do you get them? I have ordered replacement motors for cassette players and most are junk....
Hi, i have a sony cdp 705 it looks identical inside , mine plays good no problem except when i i turn up the volume skiips ,I watched a video that there is an adjuster for the laser, but on mine there is three different adjusters and I don't know which one is it? ,Any one that can help me pls.
If you have to adjust the laser power hen the laser is failing. These are in a closed loop system meaning the laser will self regulate if working normally. The other 2 adjustments on a KSS-240A are focus offset and tracking offset.
Nice repair again, surprised they had that motor from an old model

Hello, could you show the position of the gear that takes out and inserts the tray, thank you
Very nice norcal, I’ve been changing loads of laser heads lately.

I like the internal layout of the Denons compared to the Sonys. Easier to maintain and less to take off for cleaning and relubricating the rails.
3:09 is it safe to apply voltage to the motor while its connected to the driver board?
Well it was already broken, I cant break it any more.
Damnit!!!
That's how I messed up my pioneer. Didn't bridge those pads.
Run under Alcohol isopropilic, the motor....are cleaning and work very well. No replacement

On that unit I think there is a shaft with "C" clips one it. once you remove the "C" clip you can remove the shaft and the gear should fall out.
sony cdp-ce500 5-disc repair. Take tray off and there is another optic switch. Clean that also.

Also mine skips when I lightly touch it, it’s pretty sensitive that loud music will cause it to skip as well

My problem on my Sony 5 disk player is the output stopped working so I am not getting any music out of my speakers. Amy suggestions? Thanks!
does the disc time elapsed counter on the front display count accurately?
Yes 👍.

Ive got an issue with one of these players not ejectind the disc trqy
Might be a slipping belt.
