Volare is my first canoe. Loving it here in NY. Still trying to dial in where to set my rear iako. Any tips besides the original video on starting from level…?
There is no right answer here and for many it will vary depending on the conditions. Try to go out of your comfort zone and see if you get used to a more "tippy" canoe. and if you can manage it with the ama skipping lightly then go with it, or dial it back to get more comfy again.
The cover over the foot well is worthless and makes getting your legs out difficult. A manu kai would make more sense. The iakos seem to have issues in rough surf and can break. I would like to see him use more traditional canoe design (talk to your father) Since I find paddling with my feet straight in front of me weird, I would love to see something that lets you use your legs like you do in a 6 man. Don't hate me but OC1 is a kayak with a Aama
Sorry, I don’t understand. Where would you rather put your feet other than straight out in front of you? Do you mean under your seat as in OC6? Then how do you control the rudder? Unless you are paddling V1.
Love this canoe! Like Danny said each canoe design gets better I can’t wait for my Cantare!
I love the work Johnny and his team does. Sadly I have never been able to ride any of his boats but it is still a dream of mine!
Keep it up!
