  • In this video you can see how I made the breastplate for my Princess Celestia cosplay with Black Worbla. It's a rather old video, so there is no music nor a voice over. But I think the video can still be helpful because there will be a lot of techniques shown for detailing cosplay Worbla armor!
    Learn more about working with Worbla and creating awesome details by downloading my Worbla book: www.joycedesign.nl/product/it...
    If you want to learn even more about cosplay crafting and see how I created many of my cosplay costumes, then be sure to check out all the other E-books that I wrote. And you can even download quite a lot of the patterns that I made and used to make my own armors and props. There's even some sewing patterns to download here!: www.joycedesign.nl/product-ca...

    Such a great tutorial - I watched all the way thru despite not caring at all for the "My little Pony" horse imagery as opposed to true to life...little too juvenile for my own taste, but thanks all the same for the great ideas generated - I never knew this could be done.

    Hi!! your craft are very impressive!! I'm new at cosplay, but this material sounds good.
    How resistant is after is cooled down? and don´t lose form again with the heat of your body or sun??? Can i put eva foam inside or is better other material? sorry for so many questions.

    • @PretzlCosplay
      @PretzlCosplay  7 років тому +2

      Thank you! It's really sturdy when it is cooled down. It can become soft again when it is exposed to heat. So better not leave it in the car on hot summer days because it will become soft again! I use craftfoam (wich is just a really thin 2mm evafoam) so evafoam is perfect to use! I hope I could help a bit :)

    Im totally new with making cosplay, is that blue craft foam you are using in between the black worbla? Is that to make it stronger?

    • @PretzlCosplay
      @PretzlCosplay  8 років тому +2

      Yes, that's craftfoam. With foam inbetween the Worbla is easier to shape neatly and the result will be more durable.

    At what temperature you use your heat gun? How long do you heat up the worbla? *since it's speed up I can't get a good idea*
    Thank you very for this tutorial, is really helpful and it looks amazing ♥

    • @PretzlCosplay
      @PretzlCosplay  7 років тому +2

      I use the heatgun at 330 degrees (Celsius) and how long it takes depends on the size of the Worbla piece. I just make sure it gets soft enough to work with 😉

    Do you still have to use a primer after using the black worbla? Is it still course?

    • @PretzlCosplay
      @PretzlCosplay  6 років тому +2

      It´s up to you if you use a primer or not, but I feel like the primer provides a better surface for the paint to hold on to. So I would prefer to use it on all projects. As for the smoothness of the material, it depends on your goals of course. It´s not like ´mirror smooth´ but it is pretty smooth. So it really depends on the final look you are going for :)

    I have a newbie question. Why cover the piece of foam with worbla instead of just using the foam piece and sealing it with plasti dip?

    • @PretzlCosplay
      @PretzlCosplay  5 років тому +1

      For this breastplate, I wanted to make lots and lots of details by sculpting with Worbla. Worbla sticks to itself once it's heated up, so I needed a Worbla base too. Of course you can also make a breastplate just with foam :) There's no problem with that at all! I just love to work with the Worbla because I can sculpt so many details with it.

    • @thebeybladearmory
      @thebeybladearmory 5 років тому

      @@PretzlCosplay ok so that leads me to the second question. Worbla doesnt stick to EVA when heated up?

    • @PretzlCosplay
      @PretzlCosplay  5 років тому

      @@thebeybladearmory Well, it can stick a little bit, but not enough to stay on the piece. Worbla will be fully hard when it's cooled down and foam stays flexible. So it won't adhere. If you want to add Worbla details to foam, you will have to sculpt the details while the Worbla is hot, then let it cool and use superglue to fix it to the foam. That's what I did with my Leafeon arm armour pieces. instagram.com/p/BngafeRCn3j/ (The green gem with the Worbla gold edge)

      I'm not sure what you mean exactly so I will give two answers ^^ The black surface is a thermoplastic called "Worbla's black art". You can use it to make all kinds of cool projects! The surface on my table is a silicone (baking) mat to protect my wooden table against the heat :) I hope this answered your question 😁
