I really enjoyed this presentation. You gave clear instructions with lots of very useful hints. Your instructions for inserting an invisible zip are the best I have seen and I look forward to applying these to my next garment. I love your colour choices. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with the sewing community.
I cannot wait to sew up this beauty it is so gorgeous and I have the perfect shoes hopefully I can find the perfect material. I enjoy your videos so much it helps me dust off my sewing skills and learn new and more from you.
Mimi, your sewing tutorials are so inspiring. Thank you. I do have one request. Could you talk a bit about pattern matching when preparing fabric for sewing. Recently, I made a dress and didn't consider matching the pattern when cutting out the fabric. While the construction of the dress was good I was so disappointed in the lack of pattern matching I probably will never wear it. Could you please speak to that?
Did I miss an intro? How did everyone know that was your daughter singing? She does have a nice voice. Excited about 1167 (S0858) & 1159 (S0854) especially since I am such a girl and love dresses.
Tee Bre That's great! Feel free to share a photo of your work by posting a pic to our Facebook page at facebook.com/simplicitypattern and on Instagram by using hashtag #simplicitypatterns. Also, don't forget to subscribe to our UA-cam channel for more sewing videos: bit.ly/1IqOjbB. Thanks!
Hi I love your channel !!and I love to sew but joanns fabric and Hancock aren't cutting it for me no more , can you give suggestions on where we can go or buy cute pretty modern fabric ? thank you lexi
I finally finished making the longer skirt version, the top was challenging and could be a bit tweaked for next out fit. How can I share photo of my version?
My only problem, if you will, is with my cutting. Help! A tutorial on using scissors would be greatly appreciated, any tips, etc.... Love you Mimi and your style and tutorials too! Annette
I used to have this same problem. What I've found that helps is to pin your pattern pieces to the fabric so that it does not shift while you're cutting. Also, do not lift the fabric while you cut and keep the lower part of the scissors on the table. Do not lift the scissors while you cut. The tip of the scissors should remain gliding along the table as you cut.
Annette Siverson She provides cutting tips (info on scissors, weights and correct way to cut) in her basics video. :) She linked it in the description of the video. I tried to copy and paste the link in my comment but UA-cam was having none of that. :)
I see your darts are cut out with in the pattern so tell me do you measure 5/8 seam within dart line and cut out I always trace my dart line on fabric but this looks easy w the cut out already w/in pattern
I love this video, but a better fabric to show the differences in the lining and bodice would make it better. The pattern on the fabric makes it difficult to see exactly what you are doing.
+candrea Scott Hi, Yes you can use silky type of fabrics. If you need help with the pattern, feel free to contact us at info@simplicity.com or call 1-888-588-2700 (Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Thanks!
