    A closed pasty shop - John is horrified! Queen Adelaide's Grotto was interesting and the weather made it very atmospheric. Thank you Sarah and Andrew for another enjoyable walk - come rain or shine.

      We still get out and about, even in a bit of rain. The umbrellas were really to keep the cameras dry! Sarah :)

    Penguins are wonderful to keep you dry. The sun came out as you got to the grotto! How pretty! Sideways rain and hail! Amazing waves and vistas! Those birds! Love to hear them after a rain. Thanks for taking me along with you! Lovely video! Kay

    I spent four years at university in Plymouth and never really appreciated that this lovely part of Cornwall was in such close proximity. The grotto looks really atmospheric and it’s great to see it appears to be in such good condition.

      Well over-engineered by those clever victorians but a testament to their endeavour. We were struck by the tranquility so close to Plymouth, feels like you are peering into Plymouth's hustle and bustle but not too close to be affected by it, Sarah :)

    Not the best of starts, rain and an umbrella. The better the weather in Cornwall and good to see the brollys down when you got back in there. 1876 vandalism and I do remember Playschool but them arches brought the rain back. Good to see you did get a bit of sun and blue skies at the end of the walk. Cheers Alan

    Great video as always. Talking about grottos, do you know Sharrow Grot, above Whitsand Bay, roughly halfway between Rame Head and Portwrinkle? It's a cave carved out of solid rock just above the sea at Sharrow point. It was carved around the 1780s by an ex-sailor, who also inscribed a poem on the walls and roof of the cave. Worth exploring if you're back that way - and Whitsand Bay is such a lovely beach to explore at low tide!

    First the wind....and now the rain! But something so exhilarating about walking by the ocean when it's stormy. The grotto was special. Really would like to do this at some point. Have you ever been to Hallsands, just over the border into Devon....lost village swept away in a storm way back when. Eerie poignant place...I'd love for you to film that one! But you would have to travel further afield into Devon territory!! And Andrew would have to eat Devon pasties & cream teas for the day!! :-)) J x

      Ooooo, let me find my passport! I know where you mean and it is somewhere we would love to go! We could have a sister channel 'Cornish Walking trails does Devon" when we exhaust Cornwall! Sarah :)

    • @judybee
      @judybee 5 років тому +1

      I think tbh Sarah, you will be a long time ''exhausting'' the wonderful places to go in Cornwall!! I googled it after I had written to you about it, but apparently sadly, you cannot get down to the long lost village anymore...you have to view it from a platform above, looking down on it. But it's worth a visit at some point. I simply love long lost places full of mystery and echoes of the past. J x

    Penlee grotto is a quiet little gem of a sanctuary,chilled there many a time.Those twin villages have a rich history,especially in our smuggling days as they were prolific in that activity.A mate of mine grandmother had an old cottage in Cawsand and in her kitchen was an ordinary cupboard,the base of it had a false bottom that you could lift up and underneath there was steps that went down under the village to the beach. You were actually stood above a large cave that probably was part of that free trade era - ua-cam.com/video/Rxbxjy88vWs/v-deo.html

      @CornishWalkingTrails  5 років тому +1

      HI Andy, the history is something we would love to learn more about. We all have little tales about our own area and I love sharing them. We visited Talland Bay recently, smugglers haven! Sarah :)
