Fixed! Sunroof drain bypass on 2011 Toyota Highlander

Today on Brown Bagging with the Brazers, we tackle a sunroof hose.The sunroof was draining into the fender but because it was so clogged, it was overflowing onto the floor and soaking the carpet. We hope this fix helps you! Thank you for watching!

I am in the process of rerouting the 2 front sunroof drain hoses. 2010 Highlander. Finished passenger side. Easy enough. In fact, the floorboard's black bung plug (where I ran the new 1/2 id vinyl tubing into) luckily has a hole in the plastic splashshield almost directly straight down from the bunghole, so I extended the new tubing right out the bottom of car. I used fans and a dehumidifier to dry out the carpet.

That’s great, it makes such a difference! We just did the passenger side a few weeks back and are happy with the result.

You just damaged your mother in law’s car. What you are doing is not necessary. You only unclog the hole fro top.

We have 2 Highlanders and I've never been able to unclog either from the top. I've tried an air compressor, degreaser and weed eater line. What I've read in a Toyota forum it is a design flaw that has never been addressed. The down side is the passenger side isn't as easy to bypass and my floorboard floods when it rains.

@@darrenbodnar6608 it’s tough! we just did this same thing on the passenger side last week and the floor isn’t wet over there anymore.

@@BBwtB I just did it on the passenger side today. It took a few hours to find the work around but when I did boom bypassed. Now to remember to flush every week.
