Yep, I remember watching you perform the same surgery out by my barn! Interesting procedure, and a lot of great tips as usual! Fun video!!!!!
Miss you and Chuckee colaborating. Too bad Chuck burned down his channel. I agree with everything he says and we are seeing his predictions transpire. Too bad he had to take a Yuge monetary hit trying to explain the obvious. I recommend you both start a Rumb channel. I bet there are thousands like me who would subscribe.
As much as is is a pain to HAVE to do this work - it's still good to see some content on the 'ole 7.3L.
I thought that thing was a gasser?
That is a V10 truck
@@Fordguy9906 yes it’s a 6.8L V10.
Man ive always used hammers e the wrench grabbed a bronze so i font destroy my wrenches but hands are getting beat up from years of working on heavy diesel like the videos brother shout out from chicago
Thanks for sharing another great job 👍
Love your Videos always like to look into your tool box 🤣🤣keep on going 👍👍
I see you're a fan of chaos.
If it keeps killing seals, it's because the bearing is out of spec somehow. edit: A spinning race will do it. lol.. Another thing you can do to fix those is take a punch and ping some divots all around where the race goes. Then when you press it in there the uneven surface from all those divots will bind and bite into the race and keep it from spinning.
You could have taken a punch and dimpled the area all around where the race sits which raises the metal then your race fits tight again works good for such occasions
Called staking, and is a great option
Good job. I hate to see the service truck go down. Oh the Dodge needs another transmission? Wow
Get you some Locktight,TM 7649 primer part #21348 speeds up the process with results!
Good content. 👍
Nice!
If you are left with no choice but to replace the hub and still cannot find one, I was wondering if a machine shop that does spray welding could build that bearing surface back up to where you need it?
I'm assuming your race issue was the cause of your seals going bad. I had a similar problem but it turned out my axle vent was clogged and the seal was the weak point once it built enough pressure.
I always put a drop of red loctite on all races. Learned it from people who races. Never have had a race spin.
there was no mention of you looking at and cleaning the axle vent i have seen more then one axle seal bad from pluged vent
is this a dana axle and where is the vent located? just bought a 95 powerstroke f-SD and i need to go over the whole thing.
The leaf springs on that truck are insane. Was it originally a dually? Or srw factory?
SRW from the factory.
It's a cab and chassis truck and not a standard pickup. Frames on the cab and chassis trucks are a little different and they come factory with some lretty heavy duty leaf springs.
@ 14:00 ....this might be a silly question, but don't you have to pack the bearing with grease before you install them? 🤔
It's an oil bath axle. You dont want to pack them with grease.
@Stephen Cox's Other Channel ahh....ok...thanks!
I can smell this video lol
Lol. You know how I know you're a mechanic? 😆
I am behind lol. WhT happened to the shop?
Divorced my ex in 2021. Shop didn't survive it.
@@StephenCox. Damn shame about the shop
Dropping the jack is a strange thing for someone to do. Maybe a kid/teenager horsing around?
Typical Dodge with a bad transmission
Its crazy that parts are unavailable for those (hub), thats gotta be one of the most common trucks on the road. Either way, good repair. When I first saw that bearing race move I was like "GREEN LOCTITE" lol
Lol, great minds think alike!
I have a couple spares , in Hell Michigan....
Miss the Chuck!!!!
Miss ya chucky ducky
Great video Stephen - thanks for taking the time to set up camera angles - really enjoyed it brother, cheers
I'd bet someone was trying to steal your jack, good job your axle stand failed and saved the jack from being nicked.
Another good one, Messed up deal on parts though, and really disturbing seeing that race so loose, do you think that was the reason for the seal problem??? One of my seals on the 2500 dodge started leaking and it was actually the vent tube stopped up, but I got some practice working on the truck because of it😬
Just curious...is Smoking Sally ever going to be seen again?
Your wrap is getting a little weathered. You should do a video explaining the wrap process.😊
Good to see you fixing stuff again
Say it right Stephen, Eff Tree Fiddy haha
Lmao
How's the v10 going?
380k miles and going strong!
Good morning 🌞 Stephen

Such a pain. I'm gonna pay some guy. Everything broken, no flat ground and no garage. Oh yea. Life is good.
Your mom loves my service.
I mite have one of those hubs if I find it I will give it to you
I'd really appreciate it! Stephencox09@gmail.com
10 4 I believe I changed a whole diff out on a f350 a few years back I'll check Tomorrow. Did you say in one of your videos that you are close to Weatherford tx. If so I do alot of work for a trucking company not to far from there
I just did a rear seal for a guy. He bought a new axle nut. Had some old timers sayd that old hub nut would back off if I torqued it the original torque specs. 60 ft lbs.
Those are called cassette seals, although labyrinth seals function the same but are typically made of brass and use o-rings and commonly found on electric motors, or at least in my field or work.
I miss seeing you and Scotty
Scotty?
@@StephenCox. My bad. LOL. . Chucke2009
yup. love them fords......
Wishing you the best. Good video
I fix bearing, hubs, shafts on industrial machines and other equipment. Thats sad that one hub is so expensive , i hope that race didnt wear off to one side an cause misalignment of the axle
I think part of the problem is Mark had the engine tuned a bit to get more power.
Good afternoon 🌞 Stephen
