I agree 100% that we are under protection under God's shadow, but the other day, my friend who is a non-believer asked me," Why do Christians believe that God protects them when there's been a lot of bad things happen. There's been Christians who've been murdered, died in car accidents, died from cancer, etc... so why weren't they protected?" I know the answer but for some reason, my brain could not articulate it. She said, "I'm not talking about free will, I'm talking about horrible things that have happened to those who believe in God." How do I answer that? I said, "there's evil in this world and Satan wreaks havoc." She said, "but you're supposed to be protected from him too." How do I resond?
We are protected by God under His sovereign command 24-7 by His mighty angels who excel in strength (Ps. 91:11), and no matter what comes our way in this life, we have the Lord on our side to see us through and nothing can touch our souls or our salvation in Christ. With that said, belonging to God isn't a perpetual "Get out of Jail Free Card" in this life against all pain and suffering bc suffering comes to all of us. But all followers of Christ are assured of God's constant love, presence, and abundant grace and mercy to carry us through whatever comes our way, no matter what. Soon Jesus will return and we'll have an eternity of problem-free living to enjoy with Him and Father God forevermore.
