This is the first time I have understood a partial seam! Such clear instructions and the way you showed the process you made it look really easy. Thank you SO much, I will never worry about a partial seam again. I love this quilt, the fabrics are gorgeous and hope to download the pattern to make it myself. xx
Beautiful fabric choices, not a quilt I would have attempted without seeing your tutorial, have downloaded the pattern and am auditioning fabric whilst it prints, thank you for condensing the instructions into something watchable.
Love it. And thank you for the perfect instructions. I have never done a partial seam. Love the Quilt, love seeing the different ways with "light to dark". I have just started Quilting, and have completed my first with machine Quilting. It's not perfect, but it is completed, and using it on my bed.
absolutely beautiful...and your instructions and video is so clear. I look forward to doing this with all those "special...gotta have" fabrics . thank you
I was happy to find this post. So simple. I was able to complete my quilts including quilting and binding in just 3 days. As you suggested I cut, stacked and labeled the pieces and strip pieced it. It's a great way to use up fabric you purchased and don't know what to do with. Add white or black sashing and you have a wonderful charity quilt. Thanks again. JP
I watched your video last night and made mine tonight. Was so easy and pattern was easy to follow. Thanks for all of your videos!
Laura: I just LOVE your tutorials!!!!! IYou've spoiled me when it comes to watching other tutorials on UA-cam. Your tutorials are very comprehensive, very thorough and organized, very well edited, and you don't waste the viewer's time with unnecessary gabbing and searching for an item that should already be at your fingertips. You're absolutely one of the very best sewing teachers on UA-cam and I'm so very grateful for your passing your knowledge onto the rest of us. Thanks for all your time and excellent instruction! Please thank your son for me for talking you into making these tutorials. :-)
Excellent, clear directions. Thank you!
Absolutely brilliant, I LOVE your colour choices, the light on dark really appeals, this is stunning Laura.
I have revisited this tutorial as i have just finished the basket weave. quilt and ready for another partial seam quilt. for those who come after me here is a direct link studioefabrics.net/essentials-9-quilt/
Thanks so much for this new link Carylanne. I just spent a fruitless ten minutes google searching without success, then thought perhaps it would be better to hunt through the comments to see if someone such as yourself had already been able to find it. This is a wonderful pattern and technique so I'm excited to try it out. Thanks again Carylanne, have a lovely day.
I have done partial seams before and this pattern is fantastic, easy and fast! Thank you so much for sharing and showing how to put it together!
so glad I came across this teaching. I learned so much making this, that now I am doing the blocks of the month. your a real teacher. such a gift. thanks.
That quilt turned out absolutely gorgeous and I love the black with the white and red. And I can think of a bunch of colors this would do up so nice in and a pretty batik. Wow. Thanks for sharing.
I just love your fabric choices! You have a good eye for color and contrast.
+Debbie Chittick Sad to say, this design is no longer offered. I would have loved to do this one for my mom. Do you think you could attach a copy of it?
+Debbie Chittick Found the pattern: studioefabrics.net/projects/MosaicQuilt_Instr_07092014_final.pdf
Because of its sashing, this would make a great quilt as you go project. As always, I love your fabric choices. ❤🌅🌵
Can't wait to do this one. You always have great projects. Thank you for being you.
Thank you for that tutorial Laura. I have just finished a table runner which had adjoining squares like a chain. I had to sew small pieces together because I hadn't realised about partial seams. Still I have this for my next project. You really explain things so well and that quilt is just beautiful. Again thank you
Oh my gosh. You are fabulous and your explanation is perfect. Thank you so much.
I can't wait to make this one...I don't know how I missed it, could have been the title..lol. Thank you again Laura for another amazing tutorial.
Thank you, I will be trying this. Your videos are excellent, Laura Ann, and I look forward to reviewing them all.
Oh my what great explanations!!! Love your quilt, I am starting to cut my fabrics today and give it a whiz, wish me luck. Hope it is nice as yours! Thank you for this tutorial, you are amazing!
Great tutorial, very easy to follow. This is now on my list of a quilt technique I must try. Many thanks for sharing.
Excellent editing here! You did just the right amount of visual instructions to show us how surprisingly easy a partial seam can be done. I think switching the light/dark fabrics like you did actually shows off that 4-color print more effectively. How you managed to give us all the tips we needed in just 9 min 19 sec to assemble this very attractive quilt is amazing to me. Showing the completed quilt at the end shows how great this would be as a stunning wall hanging for someone who had a living room, dining room or even bedroom with enough wall space who already had this color theme. But I could also see it as a couch throw or a bed quilt by just adding more blocks and sashing. With theses particular fabrics and colors it has a more modern, sophisticated look to it. With different fabric choices in place of the leaf print, it could portray a different mood/feeling for say a family room (fall colors in a leaf print), man-cave (team colors), sewing room (sewing theme print or a sewist's favorite color combination), children's room (primary colors in the print), etc. But with that layout, it speaks "modern quilter" to me.
Yup, this one's a winner. At 69 I'm not interested in very complicated patterns or applique. Yes, they can be quite beautiful and heirloom quilts. I'm going through a period of enjoying the simpler and little things in life and how rewarding they can be. Thanks Laura, for the video and Studioe Fabrics for those prints and pattern. This one would give me much satisfaction to assemble for myself and joy to give as a gift.
+newbeequilter WOW thank you and thank you for the great comment, I 'm sew glad you liked it:)
You certainly make it look easy to the point that I am going to use this pattern and your tutorial to make this quilt - with my prized Elvis Presley material I brought from Graceland :)
I love your idea of marking the pieces with pins. This makes a pattern that references "Piece A" or "Piece F" easy to get right. However, I use safety pins so they stay attached when transforming the sewing table back into a dining room. ❤🌅🌵
Exquisite ... Your directions are so precise & concise. Professionally done. I enjoy your instructions!!! Thank you, so very much.
You are such a great teacher! Thank you!
Thank You so much for showing how to do a partial seam. I just started a quilt project was stumped on how to get the pieces to match up.... but not any more. happy quilting.
I loved your tutorial on partial seams ... I also think you explain every step very clearly. I have always shied away from this type of seam but now I am keen to try them. Thanks very much
I love what you did with the colors. It looks very Asian now. like looking at a tree through black lattice.
This was an amazing video. Definitely a remarkable teacher cuz you made it look extremely easy. THANK YOU
GENIUS!!! I always wondered if this was possible!
Thank you for demonstrating this technique. I have a book with a beautiful quilt that uses partial seams.
I regret that I can give this tutorial but one thumbs up, seams (horrible intended pun) a shame. Thank you for demystifying partial seams.
Beautiful and simple! Like it very much!
+Tatiana Alexandrovitch Glad you like it, be sure to print out the free pattern as it a time sensitive thing.
+Tatiana Alexandrovitch Be sure to print out the free pattern as it is a time sensitive thing:)
I am Master of Partial Seams except I did not know that it is called Partial Seam so thank you for that.
Great video. Thank you so much. I belong to 2 groups for charity quilts, going to try my hand doing scrapy.
+Lori Davison I think this would look great as a scrappy quilt! keep up the good work
I really, really like how your quilt turned out. I have always stay clear of partial seams. You make it looks so easy. I am now planning on making one of these. Thank You!! :) :)
+Julie Weaver Yah! be sure to print out the pattern, as there are only on line for a limited time:)
+SewVeryEasy I couldn't get my printer to work.... ugh. But I saved it to my desk top. :)
Hermoso gracias por compartir
You just cured me of Partial Seam Fear! Thanks Again!
@@SewVeryEasy
Hi can you help me please, I watch all your video clips and enjoy them a lot.
I have only just started quilting and would love to try this quilt.
The only thing is I live is Australia and am unable to download any of the patterns you do.
Is there a way I can do this so I can make this quilt.
Hope you can help with this request.
Regards
Faye

Beautiful!
It's beautiful
I'm not able to print out from my Kindle Fire but as you've given sizes along with good instructions I can calculate the pattern myself. Thanks Laura. And I really don't like using patterns unless I need to as I like to customise it.
The pattern link is down, so thank you for including enough info to make it anyway.
If you haven't got it yet. Just click on it and then click free projects or search the title. That's how I just got it.
Again, a very helpful tutorial! I wonder how the quilt would look with multiple fabrics instead of just two?
Shew...glad that I printed this out a while ago. I'm ready to cut the fabric and was reviewing the video. The link no longer works to download the pattern. fyi
❤️❤️❤️
I'm going to make this one, but not quite as big...Thanks
You made partial seams look very easy, I usually avoid them if possible. I think I will download the pattern, where did you post the link. Also, you colour choices are very striking.
I absolutely LOVE the prints! When will I be able to find them in the US?
+Linda Jacobs I would start in your local quilt shop, most do carry StudioE fabric. Here is the fabric line to ask about www.studioefabrics.com/shop/search/?csrfmiddlewaretoken=9WwW4A8saWFTShi5xgRxSlKpyCLHWegU&keywords=Essentials+9+by+Studioe&x=24&y=5
LOVE this pattern, and your choice of fabrics is excellent! Unfortunately, the link redirects to another page, and the pattern is no longer available through that link. I searched the webpage and could not find the free pattern for this quilt.
here you go:) studioefabrics.net/projects/MosaicQuilt_Instr_07092014_final.pdf
Thanks so much for the lesson. Please update the link on the PDF pattern. It looks great for the guys.
here is the update studioefabrics.net/projects/MosaicQuilt_Instr_07092014_final.pdf
Love this fabric. What’s the name? Wonder if it’s still available? I checked the link, but didn’t see it. Would love to do this quilt, in your fabric choice. Thanks for the video. As usual, it’s so very easy.
Love this tutorial! What are the name of the material you used. It is beautiful!
+Trudy Thomas click here and you can see the fabric www.studioefabrics.com/shop/search/?csrfmiddlewaretoken=9WwW4A8saWFTShi5xgRxSlKpyCLHWegU&keywords=Essentials+9+by+Studioe&x=24&y=5
How do I subscribe? Love you SewVeryEasy. Thanks Laura!
Thanks for asking, somewhere beside the video (Most time it is on the top right)you will see the word subscribe, just click on it. You will not get any junk emails, it just lets you know when a video is out:) hope this helps
you always find the most beautiful combination of print & coloring.....
BTW how do you spell "sashi" (is that correct? & I guess you are talking about the long piece of fabric).
Unfortunately the pattern in no longer on the website, could probably follow your tutorial if I knew how much fabric for each color and the sashing, anybody able to tell me that? Love the concept!
What would you suggest for a backing for this quilt?
Love this quilt and material. Where do I find the material and who makes it please. I'm working on you're Woven pattern quilt with the partical seems that you posted July 7, 2017 for my Great Grandson with pensions as my small center seam.
I'm thinking of making this quilt x 4 to make a king-sized quilt of 104' x 104"!!!
wow that would look great! keep in mind that king size batting is 120" x 120"
How many yards of fabric do I need to make your beautiful quilt.
A great and clear video. It inspired me, but when I downloaded the pattern, it's impossible to print. (I don't have any problems printing other patterns). They must put something in their patterns to stop people from printing them out unless you buy them
+Judith Autié see if this works better vw-studioefabrics.storage.googleapis.com/uploads/2014/07/11/files/MosaicQuilt_Instr_07092014_final.pdf
+SewVeryEasy Thanks for your quick reply. I managed to download and print partially, but enough to enable me to get the cutting instructions and with the help of your video, get me top under way. Thanks for all your videos. I really watch them all and learn a lot.
just saw this for a current prpject. thanks. unfortunately this pattern is no longer on the manuf site. can you assist?
Hi there the pattern above looks great but I am unable to down load it maybe because I am in Australia.
Is there any way I can get the Patten so I can try making it for myself?
Thank you
Faye
Just watching this older video now and unfortunately, that pattern link no longer works. Is there another way I could receive this pattern?
I liked your tutorial. I cannot find the pattern and I want to make this quilt. Can you help?
Here is the link: chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/store-a6ryr87j97.mybigcommerce.com/product_images/import/projects/pdf/MosaicQuilt_Inst.pdf
I could not find this pattern at studeoefabrics.net . I checked the archived and the current projects. I liked this video and wanted to make that quilt. Does anyone know where I could get the directions? I just saw this video today. Thank you.
here you go studioefabrics.net/projects/MosaicQuilt_Instr_07092014_final.pdf
the pattern is no longer on the link and i cant find it listed on the site either. where can i get the pattern?
I can't download this pattern anymore! How can I get it?
go to the homepage of www.Studioefabrics.com (that your directed to when you click on the link from this video). Then SELECT - PROJECTS n SCROLL THRU THE FREE PATTERNS, it is there titled Mosaic Quilt.
Do you think this could be done as a Quilt As You Go? Thanks, Betty
+Keith and Betty Conine I'm not sure! I would have to give it a test first!
The link no longer works, is there anywhere tp get this pattern?
pattern no longer available
Link for pattern doesn’t work
Where can I purchase the fabric used in this tutorial?
+Julie Noah A lot of shops carry this line, give them this link www.studioefabrics.com/shop/product/2869-99/
+SewVeryEasy I contacted the company, they told me it was no longer available...:-(
I tried to download the pattern from the link but the link is not working can anyone help me out
I went on a search looking for the pattern. Your link leads to this link: Can't find it under free patterns current or archive. However, I think I can follow your directions. Found it here: studioefabrics.net/projects/MosaicQuilt_Instr_07092014_final.pdf
I'm going to try this scraps!
Love this quilt, but it was a little confusing trying to jot down the measurements. Can u put the measurements on your web site. I watch you all the time.
+Al Tubens the link to the pattern is in the top box, but just incase you have trouble finding it here it is:
www.studioefabrics.com/shop/product/essentials-9-quilt/
+Al Tubens , I just pause the tutorial while I write. I can never write fast enough!
+Al Tubens please go here and click on "click here for pattern" it will be so much easier:)
+Linda Jacobs just click here it will make it easier www.studioefabrics.com/shop/product/essentials-9-quilt/
When I say I am master of partial seams, it is supposed be a fun comment as I do a lot of partial seams. The quilts I make are based on weavingsX so partial seams are a big element of my quilts. 😀
no matter how I put the the blocks together I have a good inch past my block. all my blocks r cut according to pattern. measuements r correct. measured and remeasured 3 xs. See if I can explain. A & D sewn, sow on B partial add A&D to top have over hang 1 inch. Thank you, Laura. 5 years later and you're still inspiring and enlightening others. God bless you. 🤍
Wow, thank you!
