Just started a new 80s playlist and this has gone straight up to the top. The song builds perfectly and it's an absolute joy from start to finish. Thanks for sharing this classic piece of music.
This is one of my favourite tracks of all time - the long clarinet intro helping to make it so special. Thank you djliberator31 for uploading - you've made my day!
The Clarinet is by Dave Tofani is an American saxophonist and woodwind player, and composer. As a session musician he has performed on over 500 jazz, pop, and rock recordings such as the clarinet solo on Say Hello, Wave Goodbye by Soft Cell.[1]
I never knew this... pardon the pun.... from "I never knew you, you never knew me" lyrics! :) . Is always very interesting to learn of some obscure session musician who made such meaningful compositions mixed into famous hits like this. Thanks for sharing this unknown fact.
@djliberator31 Brilliant Extended Mix I absolutely Love this 1982 Version of Say Hello, Wave Goodbye. The Clarinet really adds to the song it gives it that Nostalgic feel that the later version just didn't have simply Beautiful.
The King's X in Sydney I assume you mean. I used to work near King's X in London in the 1990s and it had none of the glamour of this video. Desperate prostitutes, nasty pimps, robbers, pickpockets etc. The Bell pub was fab though. This video is Soho. But the song always makes me think of West Yorkshire. Good song to play while you are driving over the tops from Rochdale to Huddersfield, Halifax or Leeds.
The clarinet intro is the best part. You just want it to never end!
Soft Cell is a major band of the 80's.
I agree. Dream Acadamy have a few great tunes with clarinet too.
Love the 12"..Clarinet...beautiful.

Anon Rule and Love Soft Cell?
Where can find a recording of this partially extended version. "Some Bizzare record label". What does that mean.
He’s like a Liza from the wrong side of the tracks !
