Agreed, the bass lines on this album are superb. Countdown has a nice walking line with some syncopation. Tezeta has fun arpeggios. Dusk to Dawn has great hammer-on/pull-off tremolos. Top to bottom a super fun album to play bass with. ETA: pause as much as you want to, it's a freakin' reaction channel - if you didn't have something to say only just making faces, it would be boring AF
Thanks for the shoutout! Always happy to give as much info on Gizz as I can. I'm crazy about these guys. That being said, this is probably the album I know the least about. I could tell you what guitars Stu used with what tunings at what point in time on which album, and this is the only album I can't say for sure excluding the Flying Microtonal Banana. These two songs are great. D-Day is just a great microtonal song, and Texeta is an interesting lore-heavy Joey track. Lore wise, no idea what's going on. Something about Han-Tyumi recreating the universe after destroying it. Lucas plays keys for the most part on this album. For Mild High Club's contributions, it's almost exclusively Alex Brettin (who you can see on the album cover if you look hard enough), though one of their other members plays guitar on one track. Looking at the Wikipedia page for this album would be very helpful. Next 2 tracks, Cranes, Planes, Migranes (another microtonal song) and The Spider And Me.
For your next reaction, definitely do three songs. Cranes, Planes, Migraines, The Spider and Me, and Sketches of Brunswick East II are basically a perfect way to sit down the first half of the LP in one fell swoop. Glad to know you're enjoying this album so much! It's not at all conducive to reaction videos like the ones you make because of just how interconnected and spacey things are, but you're killing it and enjoying it as given to you by UA-cam, which means you'll like it even more when streaming it.
@@parkerdavis7859 I think he should do the next two tracks together, and then loop sketches p2 with Lygon street. The book is a longer song for this album so it COULD be by itself (as much as it hurts me to say). But then SHell and Rolling stoned should go together, and do sketches p3 with silhouette 🤝 This is all me trying to not be greedy about it 😂 he should've just sat down and done the whole album at once, but split it up into single (or double, he can decide) videos for content uploads
I think a good way to put this album is it’s “ear candy” it has sooooo much. That chorus with Han-tyumi has one of the coolest keyboard parts that isn’t necessary and almost unnoticeable. But it’s amazing. The lyrics I don’t really pay attention to. The ear candy is plenty. Although the next full song is going to have some crazy lyrics!
You think its wild Han-Tyumi's robot voice is back, check the trailer for a film called Brian and Charles 😅 They've used the same TTS voice for their robot and its so trippy hearing it there haha! I fuckin love this album, good grooves and vibes all round ❤
Oh and I forgot to post the Sketches hing fae their site "Hot off the heels of our very first Gizzfest in late 2016, Alex Brettin from Mild High Club stayed in Melbourne for two weeks with Stu after playing our travelling national festival. Stu and Alex had sent each other a few ideas over email prior, then we all went into our studio for a few weeks to flesh them out and record them. I made the decision not to touch a bass guitar which was really fun for me. I’d always been ok on keys and was just having a hot streak playing them - and Alex’s Nord was really enticing me. Alex really pushed us, and I learnt a lot musically which was really cool! This album really expanded what music can be, to me anyway - I think all the other guys went on a bit of a journey with it too. Lukey xo"
I'm pretty sure mild high club is just one guy? So king Gizz is still most of the instrumentation. That being said, Lucas hardly ever plays the bass on the albums. He seems to do it more lately, like the last couple years, but esp back when Eric was still in the band you should just assume Lucas isn't playing on the recording. Also hell yeah it's a Han Tyumi song 🤖 it's also a Joey song if I recall. Gonna reiterate that you should do Journey to SHell and Rolling Stoned together 😈 they're bother shorter, both instrumentals, and they go well together. I also reiterate you should never do a title track by itself. The sketches songs are just instrumental interludes ALSO there's a live version of The Book from Sydney '21 that you should do a studio v live for.
In a perfect world, you should do The Book, SHell, and Rolling Stoned all together. But that's me being selfish. The book is like 5 minutes long. ACTUALLY in a perfect world you wouldve just live streamed this album, or recorded it all at once, and then split up the reactions into individual videos. That way you'd have a real first time start to finish reaction, and you also get daily content uploaded
Journey to SHell is a late night trip to the service station (gas station) when your a bit messed up and paranoid with whatever to go buy some cigarette papers and munchies and then you go home to get a bit rolling stoned. This lovely little album is a musical rendition of a day living your life in Brunswick East.
I’ve heard theories tied to the gizzverse that this song and album takes place during the fallout caused by the murder of the universe. The world is in ruins, and Han-tyumi is speaking to this male and female individual as a now god-like omniscient figure. Not sure if it was intentional, but it makes this album that much more enjoyable knowing that!
I am not here to listen to the songs, I am here to listen to Mr DaRiffs input. And please check out Row Jimmy from Cornell 77, thats the lowest down super chill song with great musicianship!
Him saying Han Tyumi wrong will always be funny
Ham Toomami
And Brunswick too.
Goddamn I love this album

Tezeta is really good! 👍🏻
Can't wait for the book you're gonna love that one. Studio vs live in Sydney would be awesome.

Here's a lesson in Han Tyumi's pronunciation-
Han as in Mr. Hahn from Linkin Park
Ty as in Tai from Digimon (or a neck tie)
Yumi as in "You Me"
Humanity
Tezeta is one of my favorite Joey songs
Joey? I thought Hantu Nami was the lead.
Glad you're enjoying this album!
Really love your articulation of this album, glad you're digging it!
Love this Album mild high club is one dude
Tezeta has such a fun bass line

love tezeta
I think Mild High Club (one guy) plays most of the keys on the record. Its got a lot more complex keys than a lot of gizz's other records

I was wondering if you were gonna catch Han Tyumi, believe it or not I've seen people not connect the dots lol
