- Some people murder for love, others murder out of hatred. But sometimes people kill for money. When greed is the motive, investigators must make every clue pay off in these murder-for-profit cases.

If I was a doctor involved in a case like Betty's, I'd be highly suspicious that a family member was demanding that she be buried immediately, and I'd not only have refused, I'd have told the cops and held the body. In NZ the soonest time a funeral can be arranged is 3 days, but it's usually 5 days to a week, in straightforward cases. But good detectives and coroners says that all sudden unexpected deaths should be treated as homicide until proven otherwise, and an autopsy carried out with that in mind,.....until murder can be eliminated.
Here in the US, it also depends on what religion the family is; for some religions, they have a certain amount of time that they have to bury their loved ones.
Some religions require a quick burial. I would have been more suspicious of the fact that the son chose to clean the house instead of going to the hospital with his mother. He choose his priorities but people didn’t find that odd.
@@maryelizabeth6797 I have Muslim friends and it was explained to me that the only reason they had to be buried within 12 hours was because there was no refrigeration back in the day, and they feel everything to do with death is unclean and contaminating, both physically and spiritually and is best dealt with quickly.
@@juanitarichards1074 Yes, I have Jewish friends who say the same thing. Makes perfect sense if you live in a warm country. Well any country I guess. For the most part, what would be the purpose of keeping a body around. Hunter gatherers would need to move on so once people started to feeling the lose of a person, and start funeral rites, why wait. Most of the immediate family/friends would be there already so there would be no need to hold up a burial waiting for someone to show up.
It depends the country laws. In Brazil a body should and must be buried within 24 hours of the death. Of course if it is a suspicious death they perform it a autopsy, but all within the 24 hours frame. Many times someone like me, that lives in the USA do not make it in time for the funeral. It is rare to match it a flight with the time of burying.
Pinking shears have no pointed ends. How can you stab someone with pinking shears?
With GREAT FORCE!
Easy. You can stab someone with a butter knife
The second story disturbs me, if somebody is willing to kill their mother they are already lower then whale poop but I can't come up with a word for somebody who also involves a child in that crime.
He's called saitan's poop!!!...

He had a prior record of more serious crimes, he was a convicted felon in possession of a firearm (which was probably stolen) and he did the actual shooting, so yeah.
The “Perfect Murder” is the one you never hear about.
I remember an episode where a man mistakenly killed a woman who lived in his house with a punch. It was never solved and he was the only witness. He revealed the details to the police 30 years later. Do not remember the sentencing. Look up zodiac killer, btk , or the golden state killer for perfect murders.
@@moenlighted7681 BTK and the Golden State killer were eventually caught.
@@juanitarichards1074 look up pam mintz murder and faith hedgepith for perfect murders.
@@moenlighted7681 I've seen quite a few where the husband got away with killing his wife. The cops knew but just couldn't prove it, especially when the body was never found.
@@juanitarichards1074 there was once a guy who killed four of his wives and was caught the fourth time. Another one was caught the third time.

Perfect narrator.
Some people don't deserve second chances, if there just was a way of identifying them from those who do before it is too late.
If Only. I second your comment
You mean criminals.
I agree with you that I too wish that wicked people could be taken out of circulation. Only Jehovah God has that ability and one day He will act to remove wickedness from the earth...... Psalms 37: 9-11.
If ex-cons are mad that no one wants to give them a second chance, the blame is NOT on those who deny them that second chance, but the blame is on the ex cons, like this guy, who makes us reluctant to give them one.
Regarding the last story: what kind of woman, or anyone for that matter, picks up a hitchhiker at 2 a.m.? I don't care if it's a female hitchhiker. Also, it could be a man pretending to be a woman.
For me it would depend what they did time for
Eric Patton was executed in 2006, only 12 years after he was found guilty and sentenced. Why can’t all death penalties be carried out that quick instead of giving the murdering bastards 20 odd years of life?
Have been wondering that for donkey years, i just don't understand why..
Maybe becoz they still appeal and appeal or want a new trial so that they know for sure they are not wrongly convicted? Just guessing.
To severe time for their crime before getting their punishment fully.
Now that thought is so Righteously Desired XxXSweet&SourCandy Girl...it's Right On at That!🏵😉go figure😒

The laud music interfere with the narrator voice, it's too loud!
Why not cut to the chase and just test the bloodspot from the chair to the painrer
For some reason, whenever I hear that first white-haired detective talk, I hear Ron White. Not to mention, he looks like they could be brothers. Lol
Me too.
The music is really loud and annoying
I can’t believe pinking shears could kill someone. They are not sharp. It would take a lot of strength to even break the skin surface.
The Nebraska case was Herman Buckman and the woman's name was Denise Strawkowski
43:03 Matched closely? Dare anyone to say that in a court room. Politician talk.
Why the music is louder than the narrator's voice????
Solely to frustrate us 😂

What are pinking shears. Never heard of them
They are scissors used for cutting fabric. The blade looks like a zigzag so that the fabric you cut has a zigzag edge to it, which helps stop fraying
@@tallgrasslanestitches6635 thank you 🍺🍺

Hey Mom can I borrow $250k oh and the VCR?
I'm the first at something for once, great video though
Were you the 1st born?
Really? Your girlfriend said you're *always* first.
The first story. Pinking shears? Really? They are the clumsiest and thickest of the scissor family and don't have a sharp point or sharp edges. They are for cutting cloth and leaving a serrated edge to inhibit fraying. In the kitchen drawer I could believe chicken shears.
The woman 😂 made
The biggest mistake
That it was dangerous

Music much too loud!!!
If it was impeccable detective work, then wouldn't it have been enough the first time to convict him? o.0
Why hire a convicted criminal to do a job for you? If you don't have any idea of his previous conviction, I could understand, but knowing that, and still deciding to deal with him, is something I cannot comprehend, I am sorry.
Please tone down the background music, it’s totally unnecessary and makes the narrator difficult to hear.
In the third case, the murder victim`s husband knew his wife was a drug dealing skank and why he didn`t give a rat`s behind about his wife, in-fact he is probably well rid of her, no great loss to society.

Problem #1- people that fall down the stairs only die in about 5% of the time. They don’t usually have major head injuries unless they smash into woodwork, etc. Sounds fishy from the get go. What year is this that a Dr. doesn’t know about rules for releasing a body to a family for burial?.
Killer from the first story was executed in 2006. That story made me sick. Good people gave him a chance after he had a history of being a bad guy, and he repays them by killing the wife, brutally, 2 weeks before Christmas. He got a whole $24 bucks out of it.
Wow...pinking shears are thick & heavy with rounded, blunt ends -- NOT the best stabbing weapon, I would hv thought. ???
Are we sure they were "pinking" shears? I can see how you could easily stab someone with regular shears, but pinking shears? As a dressmaker, I just don't see how it's possible. I think they must've used the wrong term.
Sasha
Virtually impossible to stab with Pinking Shears
Agree with you
I had the same thought!
Yes!
I think you have to be very, very strong to stab someone with pinning shears.
Imagine murdering someone who wanted to give you hope and a second chance in life. Such a beautiful Prayerful Christian woman murdered because she was nice. She is in heaven now. Amen
The background music is highly irritating and inappropriate for this kind of story. Unless the idea is TO ADD EVEN MORE TENSION AND HORROR TO WHAT HAPPENED 👎👎👎👎
It's called suspense.

Wow...an episode i havent seen yet! What a treat! I thought I had seen them all!
When I was faced with a sudden, shocking incident at work, I never shed a tear and was acting as it was no big deal at all. The same when I lose a loved one but a few weeks down the line is when I cry for a river and go to pieces. I am told it is to do with something in the brain, when something is too traumatic for the individual to deal with, that part of the brain freezes until the person is ready to handle the trauma.
Yes, Skygazer, I'm like you...always assumed that I was just really good at compartmentalizing. Unfortunately, I rarely revisit the old wound, it's too much like touching a sore tooth....so I never "get over" the event. It remains a tender spot in my brain that I never approach. Not very healthy.
It’s called “shock”.
@@leanie5234 I know what you mean. I'm the same. It's difficult to say the least.

My GP gave me an info sheet about Psychogenic Amnesia as 6 months after escaping Domestic Violence I started to remember the many rapes and strangulations (last one I escaped) as I was like a Zombie, trapped for four years. I still have PTSD 4 years later and can never be with a man again.
What sort of animal kills his own mother
So with the first story, I kept waiting to hear how the husband had actually paid the handyman to kill the wife. Did anyone else think that’s where it was going? When it really did turn out to only be the handyman, I have to admit I surprised. 🤷🏻♀️ It’s usually the spouse!
The killer could have bargained for a better sentence if he had information that the husband hired him.
Especially once the phrase "active in the church" was mentioned. That's usually a huge red flag in these cases.
Yes I thought so myself because he showed no emotion of her death simply no pain
Yes I thought the husband paid the handyman however the husband told the police about the handyman so that removes suspicion on the husband if he's willing to finger the handyman I would not hire anybody with a felony police record especially to work in your home
It never ceases to amaze me when I see ( American , British and more) obese Police Officer's in the flesh or the media . How on earth could they ever catch a fit young offender ? I'm a 72yr old grandma and they probably couldn't even catch me . ☘️🇬🇧
Obese looking people are that way from medicine side effects not just from overeating
Firefighters have to remain fit to keep their jobs, and I think police and first responders should be able to pass certain fitness levels as well. Not at the same level as a firefighter, but certainly to a much greater degree than many I see as well.
@@elsajones6325 I am talking about the Police Force specifically not obesity in general . How would you feel if you called to report a serious active crime and a bunch of fat Policemen turned up and couldn't catch the perpetrator ?

The grey haired detective needs to understand that not everyone reacts the same in a given circumstance. He could have been in shock and it just hasn't hit him at that point in time. They expect you to be rife with emotions immediately after and still be calm enough to give a coherent and detailed chain of events immediately. They could use a course in psychology and human behavior.
Of course he knows that. They have to go on what they have. The husband was quickly ruled out by that same detective in case you forgot.
Exactly !!
@Frank Skoda-Simmons yepp
Yeah, I would presume that an investigator should really try to always be objective and cerebral during those times. Otherwise, I'm sure it's easy to get emotional gut-feelings and to start jumping to conclusions before enough information has been acquired.
The husband reaction is normal because he is still in a nightmare and shocked he did not expect 😳 that
First story makes no sense. She was going to give him some money to borrow. Why did he still kill her?
