Not quite imo in a world where sopranos, deadwood & the wire exist, but there's a solid argument for top 10. I thought it was cheesy at first but as the season's to on the writing gets better and better for sure.
It's awesome that you're reacting to this. It's wonderful to see this show gain the traction it deserves. The first season is considered slow, but I personally find the world building aspect fascinating. All I can say Is that you are in for a ride. This show is quite literally, literature put to screen.
I can't believe i didn't get the notification for this. You have my full bell and didn't get any notice. 😡 I was scrolling through your channel... 🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️
I found you from your True Blood reaction, and decided to see what else you've reacted to. I'm so glad you have started Black Sails, the production is great. I can't wait for more episodes.
!!!! Black Sails! Yess, such a fantastic and underrated show. Hope you enjoy. The first season ist considered a little slow by some hope you stick around. It's a story about the power of stories, at it's core, so I think you will really like it.
Always so excited to see someone new discover this show! If you're a storyteller, you're in for a treat. One of the overarching themes of the show is the power of stories and of those who are adept at telling them. The show combines the literary pirates from Treasure Island with real historical pirates and some original characters, and there are all sorts of literary references along the way. And you're right - there are some terrific female characters throughout the series! The creators of Black Sails are also the creators of Percy Jackson, so Toby Stephens (Flint) was the obvious choice for Poseidon. Jessica Parker Kennedy (Max) is Medusa.
The pieces of eight is of course 1/8th the slice of a pizza. Well no not really but the higher denomination coins were as large back then so the pizza slice isn't far off.
It is technically a Treasure Island prequel, but feel free to consider it more inspired by. I think it could have made some better choices if it didn't want to try and adhere to its prequel status, but still an amazing show ! Has some dips and dives through season quality, but I definitely think this show manages to have a solid run and a good ending. I think the first few eps are a bit attention grabby w the smut, not that it ever really goes away, but the sex feels more plot relevant after these eps. Like they were just trying to hook people in the beginning. They filmed this on actual ships. So. No magical hidden areas w lots of space. And the actors had to learn a lot about the actual vessels.
Welcome to my favorite show of all time! Shame, gossip, civilization, monsters -- so many themes laid out right from the start. Fun fact. The creators of this show are also behind making "Percy Jackson" so I'm sure they had fun calling up "Flint" (Toby Stephens) to come be their Poseidon. Also the actress who plays the dark-haired prostitute, Max (Sarah Parker Kennedy). She played Medusa in Percy Jackson.
If you're a writer then you're in for an especially good treat. You'll hear the cliche thing that the first episodes and season is the weakest - but by the end I think you'll say it was one of the best written shows of all time.
Nice, i quite liked it. Only problem for me was that at some point it started to play the "Lost" game just like "Prison Break" did also in season 4 i think. What i mean with that is that constanly somebody get captured, then somebody made an alliance with his before worst enemy to free them and when they finally did it the worst enemy again turns against them and capture somebody else, so now they have to make an alliance with the last capturer ... and so on and so on ... Oh yeah, in "Lost" it was of course also that you had to go to the other side of the island for that, in "Prison Break" it was the other side of the city .. and here .. not sure anymore, maybe just sail to a far awy island or whatever 😂
A real argument can be made that this is the best show of all time.

All Black Sails episodes are numbered by Roman numerals (no separate episode titles). Continuously through all 4 seasons.

This series is sooo good. You'll really like these episodes.

Love this show. If you liked Outlander, then you'll love this show. Love your disclaimer, it's iconic. 🌻
Yes its a prequel
Fun Fact, the pirate captain Flint, played by Toby Stephens is Dame Maggie Smith's (aka Prof. McGonagall of Harry Potter series) son.
Nice Lucifer and Black Sails, two of my favorites.
She: "smash, smash"
Me: woman you are kinda violent 😂
Yes, this is an imagined prequel to Treasure Island, and the young man you almost recognised plays Luther in Umbrella Academy 🙂

This is my 2nd favorite series, just behind Peaky Blinders.
Lots of great characters and acting is top notch. Interesting complicated relationships.

this show gets pretty steamy, so grab popcorn and prepare to be boarded matey.
Toby Stephens (Flint) should be very sufficient with a sword since he fought James Bond in "Die another Day" with foil, saber, katana and longsword😃

No. of course not I'm just hungry and my pizza hasn't arrived. Bloody marvellous show I wonder when it will air in the UK.
7:35 Long John Silver... To be exact 7:42

Anna, i dont mean to sound like i am exaggerating, but this show is one of the best shows ever made!
Oh.. and... Fuck you Jack!!

Fun fact a lot of the characters are based on real people charles vain, jack racham, ann bonney and william.hornigold are all based on real people
can you react to the amc interview with the vampire?
Some of the smartest characters in TV. Not all but a very select few
LOVE Black Sails but, it has a lot of scenes that are definitely not "UA-cam friendly"
In my opinion this show started off strong and was very good. But somewhere in Season 2 or 3 I kind of lost interest.
