Sinuk came home safely and was immediately scolded for being late as usual, even though he was earlier than his brother Hanuk. He never gets scolded no matter what he does. But that didn't bother Sinuk now. The fact that he got a smaller portion of food than his brother didn't bother him now. He politely thanked for the food afterwards and went upstairs to his room, which consisted only of an old mattress, a wooden chair and a table. It looked pathetic. He took a piece of bread from the table that he had stolen yesterday, but lost in thought, he didn't even take a bite.
Who was this guy? How could he manipulate the environment as if it were nothing? And why is no one talking about how the whole landscape turned into lava for several minutes? Sinuk has never seen this kind of magic in his life. He knows that magic exists and that there are various powerful actions that can be performed. But never on this scale. With such a difference in power, why does he still want me to follow him?
But most importantly:
What is that thing I am supposed to be wielding?
He didn't notice his brother coming into his room with a small bowl of soup.
"Here, I could sneak it in without my parents noticing. You're probably still hungry after that nothing portion."
Sinuk smiled a little, but seemed to ignore the words and just asked: "Do you ever have those moments when you think you finally understand everything, but a second later you discover something completely out of place, which overturns everything you believed to be right?"
"Don't make such a frown, Sine." He put the bowl down on the table.
"I don't know what's going on, but don't give up hope. The hopeless are the first to fail. Don't you remember what our grandparents always used to say? Only because our ancestor Delton still had hope, he could survive the Ancient War. Without his hope we wouldn't even exist. So, there's still plenty of options left, you just have to see them!"
Sinuk's glance shifted from the bread to the bowl on the table.
"Maybe you're right. Do you have any idea where to start?"
"If you don't understand anything, then there's one place where you could go. People say the library knows all the answers. And if that isn't enough, the restricted section knows even more. But i don't think you would need to go that deep, these are all ancient documents about some lost languages and history."
Sinuk's eyes opened wider. "I think this is a good idea."
"See, that's what I'm talking about. Well, I'm going to sleep, I hope your mind is a little clearer now." With that, Hanuk left the room, leaving Sinuk looking pensive out the window.
I need to find out what power this guy wants from me.
