@@ebraheemfredericks5736I was going to write the same thing. That’s why I liked Rebuild. Not only am I a Samsara subscriber but I always saw rebuild as a reply to the original. The original is truly a masterpiece but Rebuild has value too.
To this day, few cinematic pieces have stuck with me and made as significant of an impression on me as the End of Evangelion movie. Truly breath taking, terrifying and hypnotic.
We all know the ending of this movie is sad, but can you imagine if they decided to go with one of their original plans? For those who are unaware, there was a scrapped ending where it would've started with Shinji laying down at the beach, just like in the final version, only this time Asuka is nowhere to be seen. Shinji appears to be holding someone's hand, but it turns out to just be Rei's severed arm; the same one she lost earlier in the film. Shinji would then monolog about how he was the only human with a self-reflective enough mind to ever return from Instrumentality. Which in a cruel twist of fate means that he'll spend the rest of his days all alone, only after finding the will to connect with other people. The movie would've ended with a shot of Unit 01's wreckage on the surface of the moon, and traces of women's hair could be seen out of the Eva's fractured skull. Then it cuts to black. So yeah, for those who think that the ending we got was like beyond depressing (myself included), just know that it could've been ten times worse.
@@Mr.Needle-Hamster I've just look it up eva geeks, the endings called last A and last B. Like what you said last A is the original ending with more asuka screen time, while B is much darker, I couldn't find any of story board or visual, but thanks
@@cozyaddict1908 Sucks that there aren't any storyboards, don't you think? I personally would've been interested to see how it could've played out (Also, you're welcome by the way)
Christ, what a horrific ending. When I saw the film in theaters, I actually felt hopeful. Shinji and Asuka were like a twisted version of Adam and Eve, the ending like a rose: beautiful even if it's stings. But this alternate ending isn't just Shinji cursed to solitude, but it's human extinction too. Everything would've been for nothing. I'm glad they scrapped that idea, that's like ending a suicide note in a period instead of tearing it up.
I have to imagine, what then? In that abandoned world, where the oceans are all the people who chose to remain as LCL, what then? What pieces are left to pick up? What life is to be lived? Does one simply continue in the broken world he made for himself? Are there others out there, who chose to remain as individuals? Enough to rebuild a population? What would they think of you, the one who made this new and old and broken and fixed world where the moon has turned black and the sea has turned red?
@@GLUBNOIR The vibe I get is the same one gets when they reach the epilogue of a good book, only in this sense, the epilogue is for humanity, and the book is my fleeting existance. I find it enchanting
The artwork here looks so depressing. Well, technically, the whole show was too, but this just feels very upsetting. They won, didn't they? Shinji made the right choice, didn't he? If so, then why does it still feel so depressing?
I don't see how this is a victory. If anything, Shinji's depression and self-loathing were what turned this world into a hellish landscape. He could've stopped it, but that never happened, and now everything has gone to ruin. Misato begged him to put an end to all this, to finally get closure, but he didn't listen. She basically died for nothing, and that's just f*cking sad.
Do you wanna know something? Whenever I lay my eyes upon this exact imagery, all that exists in my heart is hopelessness. I often ask myself, where did all go wrong? Was this how the story was meant to end? Or could it have been stopped? What do you think?

It's amazing how much the creator's mental health state can be tracked throughout the franchise. I hope he is doing better these days
If the Rebuilds give us any indication, I'd say he's doing pretty well.

The End of Evangelion is a great film. It came the same year as Final Fantasy 7.
And Crash Bandicoot 2 💀

He made the right choice but 8 choices way, too, late.

also since it relates to “damaged land”
