I have helped hundreds of people pass their B2 First exam at no cost, and I would LOVE to keep it that way. Of course, I still have to maintain a full time job while running this channel, and BELIEVE ME, I spend the majority of my free time writing, recording, editing and publishing videos. I love doing this, but I would love it even more if I could do it for a living!
If every student that PASSED their exams bought one beer for Bruce I’d be able to do this full time. That would be MARVELLOUS!
So, if you’ve PASSED your B2 First exam, and feel that SMASH English really helped, please consider donating here:
    www.buymeacoffee.com/SMASHEnglish
This is not an obligation. One of the fantastic things about SMASH English is that it is free for everyone that needs it! This will not change. However, if you do feel you can say thanks with a little bit of money then that’s fantastic.
    Thank you all!
    Toby.

Hi, I would add another situation we use "subjunctive" as well. After the phrases such as: it is important, it is vital, it is crucial, etc. we use subjunctive to emphasize urgency and importance. Moreover, what is interesting, that old english form can be seen way more in AE than in BE nowadays

Hi Toby, I have a question about subjective reporting verbs and modal verbs.
For example: "She insisted that I bring more cake" vs "She insisted that I should bring more cake"
"He advised that she study harder" vs "He advised that she should study harder"
What are the differences of these sentences?

Hi, Tobey. I think you should make a discord group so we can practice our English. Thanks for everything you've done for us, you're a great teacher. I think you should make videos about the Reading part.

Hello Toby, thanks for the video! I have a question though. At 10:22 you are suggesting to use the subjunctive in a review, but isn't a review usually rather informal?

    Awesome Toby, many thanks!!
Even I 'm preparing the B2 exam , I'll try to use the subjunctive within the essay, in the formal letter....Would you recommend to use it in a report as well? Or might it be too formal for the report?

    • @SMASHEnglish
      @SMASHEnglish  2 роки тому

Hey Eva! No, it is not too formal for a report! In fact, it's a great idea!

I demand that spectators who have not yet subscribed be banned. I recommend Toby buy Monica Sushi so that she does not quit. And you had better urge the sushi chef that a sushi box be delivered to me as well!!! I asked my father that he make me lunch, but he has not yet done so. ...So now I'm off to make me a sandwich myself! I suggest Toby be applauded for this video 😊😊

I have a grammar playlist for C1 Advanced, but honestly the difference between C1 and B2 First isn't so much grammar as it is knowledge of collocations, fixed phrases and vocabulary.
