hello Jonathan and ATP team. Have a great day 😊 Not sure if a hit on a towed artillery gun is a trivial issue. Besides killing the crew- the recoil mechanism or elevation gear if damaged can prevent the gun from firing 😊
@@geoffgill5334 I would hope so. But imagine having another 14 fully equipped brigades right now. That'd be a significant boost. The West has a lot to answer for for only providing kit a bit here and a bit there.
Jonathan, let me cheer you up, you know no human life ends well, not a single one does. Well, humanity is no exception. Do I sound like a Buddhist? I don't know.
Good morning, everyone. Just a small window into American life. Automated ammunition vending machines have recently been installed inside several grocery stores across Oklahoma and Alabama. No, I'm not making that up. I just put a picture up on Discord.
Yes. There are liquor vending machines showing up as well. It's a function of employees must be over 21 to sell ammunition and liquor. As some stores have many young employees for entry level jobs, they have turned to vending options to avoid the need for more older employees at registers each shift. Many stores sell ammunition behind the counter, which is nothing new.
@@brianivey5682 My take is that if you're a guy that has trouble with even a basic level of human interaction but still need a bunch of ammo this is the American solution. I think this is highly problematic given the ridiculous level of gun violence we already have. I come from a gun/hunting culture, and I have owned an AR-15 when I lived out in the middle of nowhere and had to deal with Coyotes. This is a problem for me.
A short clip is circulation online where Indian PM Modi, in front of a group, is patting Putin on the shoulder saying "Good that he is not demented like the other one".
Hey Jonathan, I find those number you discussed very strange. 1. I would not count broken item as remaining so 68% is optimistic 2. Only 4763 reduction is not according to Ukranian stats of 15732 lost/damaged 3. What we see at the front doesn't match the %remaining in my opinion.
6:48 I keep suspecting the problem for Russia is not the vehicles but the experienced drivers. It's not whether you can teach someone to drive a BTR or BMP but will they have the skill and situational awareness to operate on the battlefield.
I agree, Ukraine doesn't have the man-power to exercise maneuvers warfare at this time. Over the past year, I have come to the conclusion that Ukraine, without the support of the soldieries of a third party-nation, cannot win this war conventionally. Ukraine either does not have the number of troops required or it's population is unwilling to fully participate in the war. Either way, Ukraine needs man-power support. Even with the added brigades being generated, Ukraine requires additional human resources to complete the mission of pushing the russians off of Ukrainian territory. The West will soon have to acknowledge this fact. We are long past the time when a lighten-fast, overwhilming, maneuver warfare could strike a victory against a disorganized numerically superior russian army. The choice will soon come to either push for a ceasefire or support the escalation of committing non-Ukrainian troops to enter the war on behalf of Ukraine. A ceasefire would be a win for russia. An escalation would require another country entering the war on the side of Ukraine. In the first year of the war, if property supported, Ukraine could have pushed russia back with its own forces. Now this is too late. The West dragged it feet. Now the West will have to commit to boots on the ground or except defeat. A frozen war is a winning war for russia. I hope that the West starts lacing up their boots, but I am not convince that there is a will for this.
Russia has so much equipment that a frozen war is absolutely necessary. The point at which they simply do not have enough equipment is when the war ends. Pushing them back at the beginning would not achieve this.
@@boogiewoogie9770 Thank you for your response. I agree that the russians had a lot of kit; they still do have a lot of kit. However, I do believe that at the time of the first Ukrainian offensive in the north, had they of had armor and air power, the russian army could have been broken. That is, the Ukrainians could have liberated much of their country. Look at how effectively the Ukrainians broke the russians in the north during the first offensive with limited resources. This socked the russians to the core. It was true maneuver warfare. And with limited resources, the Ukrainians has to stop. The shocked russian army has pause to snap out of their shock and think. They went to work making fortifications for the next year or so to prevent the Ukrainians from conducting maneuver warfare. Without overwhilming air power, the russian strategy worked well. Had the Ukrainians liberated much of their territory a year ago, russia would have keep fighting, but the war would be a much different war. The real challenge for Ukraine will not be defending their current land, it will be liberating it. Ukraine is spent because it must both hold land while seize land. It is much easier to hold then to seize.
JP for a nice primer on the Bradley IFV vs the Soviet style IFV was recently published by Dr. Gustav Gressel. It seems to explain why the AFU prefer the Bradley over MBTs and the Soviet IFVs, and why a lot more Bradley FV are showing up on the lost lists. The Ukrainians love them.
Private Military Corporations are still a business opportunity that Ukraine is considering. They have willing partners offering funding in the billions to recruit troops internationally for a first formation of about a 100k mercenary troops force that would be fully equipped including artillery, armoured cars, and helicopters. They would be a business with deployment to remove all Houthis from Yemen as part of their contract opportunities after they are done helping with the Russian problem in Ukraine. Being the host country for this raises so many questions, and risks, but it might be preferable to, or work alongside further Ukrainian mobilization. Russia still feels they have a chance to beat Ukraine, ignoring the cost. They have no chance of beating the whole world, and that is what they will fight if necessary to defeat them.
