@@thatoneblackdude3333 yes everyone fucked up, but the king had the power to change how all of this played out. He just didn't have the brains. He who has the power holds the responsibility. So Viserys is responsible for this. Simple as that.
Right decision? Alicent has always done what her father or the king has told her to do bc it was her duty now that she believes the kings dying wish was for her son to be king people expect her to stop doing whatever she was told to do? She’s done that for 40 yrs now when she does it there’s an issue with it. Realistically if you go and sit and talk with someone you wouldn’t expect them to just randomly continue a conversation they had 24 hrs ago that you were unaware took place with another human no matter how out of it they were especially when the names and details match up to where you can at least make a little sense out of what they’re saying. When you hear nonsense you try to decipher it and that’s what she did
Alicent went far beyond mere duty years ago when she allowed Larys to go unpunished for murdering his father and brother. Her duty was to report him and have him arrested. Attacking the princess with a knife isn't exactly dutiful either. Alicent's sense of duty only applies to actions that benefit her.
I always took that to be an author's biased addition. Rhaenyra may have been called "The Realm's Delight" but in truth that was only among the lords and ladies. As Jorah Mormont explains to Dany, the smallfolk take no interest in the games the high lords play. For them to cry out for Rhaenyra, someone they don't know at all, when surrounded by green soldiers doesn't really make any sense.

I kept rewatching that scene before I even finished the episode. Can't wait to see your reaction to it!
Rhaenys massacreing hundreds of commonfolk never sat right with me, especially considering how "nobles doing whatever they wanted at the cost of the common people" was one of the most important themes that the books had.
It's also illogical and dumb as fuck , the dragon pit has multiple exists and entrances she could have left completely undetected and wouldn't harm anyone, plus she's not wearing a helmet bursting from the floor is a good way to get a concussion, also the whole point of the dragon pit is that they can't just leave whenever they want once again the show runners choose spectical over logic for the sake of it without thinking it through.
Being a people pleaser was one of Viserys' worst traits as king, as well as simply wanting to ignore every problem and hope for the best. We saw him do it with the Stepstones, a problem he ignored until Corlys and Daemon fixed it for him, and we see him let his family's dysfunction spiral out until war was inevitable. Like you said, he never should have brought Otto back in as Hand. He also probably should have forced the marriage between Jace and Helaena, even though it would have ruined his relationship with Alicent. Getting the kids away from Alicent might have also been a good decision because if he was paying attention he would know how toxic her influence was. He maybe even should have disinherited Rhaenyra when she started popping out the bastards. It's awful the way women have their sexuality controlled in this society, but is standing up to that sexism worth thousands (maybe millions) of people being killed, raped and displaced worth it? Sorry I wrote an essay here, just needed to get that off my chest! Thanks for the videos!
@@psychedelicpegasus7587 Well, in the show he just wanted him to sit down and didn't mean to kill him so yeah it's an accident. But in the books... Go read the books and you will know who Rhaenyra is outside of this propaganda
@bridgeco - did you know that Jerry Lee Lewis did the same thing? married his 13 year old cousin.. they got some woman to sign the marriage papers on her behalf because she was obviously too young.
It's amusing how much people hate the Greens for crowning Aegon over the named heir. Joffrey was Robert's named heir and Ned tried to deny him the throne because he was a bastard... just like Rhaenrya's sons. It has nothing to do with right or wrong. People just don't like the Greens.
The same people would hate the Green no matter what they do, even if it is good. The reason is, these people often have zero accountability for their actions. So they validate themselves with the Blacks, who largely aren’t punished for their bad behavior, and even if they were, they’d quickly jump on the blame game rather than some self-reflection. These people wanna do whatever they please without any repercussions.
Those are two very different situations... Ned did not try to deny the throne to Joffrey just so he could take it for himself (also, the Lannisters were vile) and Rhaenyra is not a bastard, so the fact that her sons are doesn't really matter here. People don't like the greens because of the way they've been acting since ep 1.
@@sundaylibre no they are not entirely different. Ned was going against Robert's dying wish. He could have told him the truth about Joffrey. He chose not to. He also entertained Renly and Littlefinger's schemes. Rhaenrya may not be a bastard but she is a woman. There has never been a ruling queen. As Rhaenrya admitted last episode, naming her divided the realm. More importantly she committed treason when she put bastards in the line of succession. Keep in mind Corlys said the fact that Rhaenys already had a male heir in Laenor was a reason to support her claim. As far as how the Greens have acted, name their crimes. Otto has consistently done what he thought was best for his house and the realm. He is the reason Viserys named Rhaenrya in the first place because he correctly recognized how dangerous Daemon is. And nearly ever Hand has tried to marry into the royal family. Tywin wanted to marry Cersei to Rhaegar. Ned was willing to let Sansa marry Joffrey. Otto is no different.
23:30 important moment Aegon stops for a moment and look between Otto and Alicent but he is below them but slowly he climb up the stairs and become their equal to finally become bigger then them kid they abused for so many years
I think Tyrion said something about "It's hard to put a leash back on a dog after you've put a crown on his head" when talking about Joffrey. I'm looking forward to a certain event next season where Otto finds out the truth of those words.
The irony that Alicent thinks she has Aegon as much as Otto had her. When in reality Aegon will be even more independent than when she became a Queen consort. He will become what Otto had feared Daemon would have become as the next King, when actually his own grandson will be the next Maegor.
I do think it's an interesting take that Viserys' neglect toward his other children made less of an impression on them than their mother's insistence that they be raised wary of dying. Viserys' inaction gets a pass from a lot of people because he starts to break down and everyone else is more ambitious. I think Bridget's anger in the first episode was righteous but it's a more stark example of his own follies ruining his family. After all those years, he's still in relatively good health enough to raise his sons. And yet, he lets them stew in the resentment of Alicent and Criston Cole. Something he plainly saw. Letting Rhaenyra get away with her doings. Time and time again letting Daemon back into the fold despite his undermining. This isn't you guys but Viserys getting smol beaned by the end of the series by some people has been stuck in my craw. The right response to not wanting something to happen is to be more proactive in preventing it. Especially if you have absolute power.
A lot can be said about the horrible things Alicent does, but I do genuinely believe she does them out of love for her family. She stepped between her son and a full grown dragon with no hesitation, and I'll always respect that move
Still shocked by how many people are Team Black - to me Daemon is as evil as Larys or Cole (just ask his lady wife in the Vale). Otto is just deviant. But Alicent - I simply don't understand how people don't see her side. She was forced into this marriage, and was EXTREMELY loyal to Viserys and the Realm. She is a Loyalist and a Realist, all she ever did was protect the kids she was forced to have. Even when she did the worst thing she did (attack Rhaenyra), it (protecting her kid) was because one of her kids lost an eye and nothing was being done about it. She doesn't want her son to be King, but she knows the Realm will (I'm not saying the Realm should, saying the Realm does), which means one of Aegon or Rhaenyra has to die ("you are the threat simply by breathing") and as shown in this episode Alicent doesn't want either to die. It's actually kind of hard to watch Bridgeco because of the Black blinders they have on - neither side is good and both sides have good. To me HOTD is so brilliantly constructed to show how both sides are right and wrong, and it blows me away how many people side with the Blacks. Bridgeco isn't alone, I've watched a lot of reactors and most are Team Black - but Bridgeco are so vociferously Black that everything else is ignored. One last thing - blaming the parent for all of the child's indiscretions is completely unfair - in real life or the show. "With Targareyans, the gods flip a coin..."
This franchise is reminded me of AOT community. There are children yapping about different sides and there are mature people observing both side and realize how fucked up both sides are

@@thatoneblackdude3333 yes everyone fucked up, but the king had the power to change how all of this played out. He just didn't have the brains. He who has the power holds the responsibility. So Viserys is responsible for this. Simple as that.

When Rhaenese finally got word to Rhaenyra........ LOOK AT DEMION'S FACE ...
Rhaenys
i believe the ball signifies who is supposed to be allowed to talk to the table, like a talking stick.
“Spark up Otto”🤣🤣🤣
Rhaenys' moment was kind of cool, but I was so hoping they'd keep to the books in the coronation scene, with the crowd calling for Rhaenyra.

The beast beneath the boards. Can't believe you missed whose house was on fire.
You should watch "Dark" after finishing HOTD as the next big show. It is really good.
Rhaenys wanted wanted to stay neutral at that moment. She definitely didn't want to start a war or murder half her family.
poor helaena looks away as aegons being crowned, she doesn’t want it, she knows what’s happening is WRONG.
also if you remember, daemon created the gold cloaks, otto was ordering them to open the doors but they were doing the opposite, this is shown because the gold cloaks favor daemon and want to see daemons ascent, so they were actually hoping that trapping melys in there would stress her out and would therefore burn everyone to a crisp and ending everything right then and there.
This whole house green annoy the hell out of me...
If i remember correctly, Rhaenys' dragon Meleys is the most nimble dragon which is why it was able to squeeze through those doors so easily
“Source trust me bro” 😭😭😭😭😭
So this year marks the 10 year anniversary of the movie Ex Machina, and about a month ago i was thinking how of the 4 actors in that movie, there was 1 whose career I hadn't followed. So I looked her up on IMDB and was shocked to realize she was the White Worm. If you haven't seen Ex Machina before I highly recommend!
Larys out here predating Quentin Tarantino! 😂
The next episode has one of the greatest shots of both Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. I kept rewatching that scene before I even finished the episode. Can't wait to see your reaction to it!
This is the start of “The Dance of Dragons” get ready!
Rhaenys massacreing hundreds of commonfolk never sat right with me, especially considering how "nobles doing whatever they wanted at the cost of the common people" was one of the most important themes that the books had.
Personally i love seeing her girlboss
I wouldn't consider the slaughter of hundreds of innocents a girlboss moment, but maybe that's just me 🤷♀️@zoelagoblina3138
But doesn't that support exactly that statement?
It's also illogical and dumb as fuck , the dragon pit has multiple exists and entrances she could have left completely undetected and wouldn't harm anyone, plus she's not wearing a helmet bursting from the floor is a good way to get a concussion, also the whole point of the dragon pit is that they can't just leave whenever they want once again the show runners choose spectical over logic for the sake of it without thinking it through.
At least she didn't go mad queen that never was and burn down all of kings landing like Dany..
The twins are our new cleganebowl
You found the new little finger. "Little piggies"

17:55 House Green for ONLY that reason, lol.😂
@bridgeco - did you know that Jerry Lee Lewis did the same thing? married his 13 year old cousin.. they got some woman to sign the marriage papers on her behalf because she was obviously too young.
Great Balls of Fire was a great movie about Jerry.
Keep noticed of what QUEEN HELENA says
It's amusing how much people hate the Greens for crowning Aegon over the named heir.
Joffrey was Robert's named heir and Ned tried to deny him the throne because he was a bastard... just like Rhaenrya's sons.
It has nothing to do with right or wrong. People just don't like the Greens.
Exactly and they were cheering when Ned did it, lmao
I think you might be forgetting that joffrey was a monster so for us viewers, there is litteraly no reason to want this psycho to be king
I didn’t notice before but look at Helena during the last few moments. Her head is turned and in another scene her eyes are closed.
King Viserys may have looked old due to his disease but recall he was only 52 at death which is I’d say an appropriate age to have a 19 year old son.
You always time it just in time for my lunch!:)
Scary Larry 😂
23:30 important moment Aegon stops for a moment and look between Otto and Alicent but he is below them but slowly he climb up the stairs and become their equal to finally become bigger then them kid they abused for so many years
I think Tyrion said something about "It's hard to put a leash back on a dog after you've put a crown on his head" when talking about Joffrey. I'm looking forward to a certain event next season where Otto finds out the truth of those words.
@@pajamaparty01 yeah that's what Tom (actor who plays him) said about Aegon on one of meetings with fans
Kings don't raise their children. They depend on others to do it.
A lot can be said about the horrible things Alicent does, but I do genuinely believe she does them out of love for her family. She stepped between her son and a full grown dragon with no hesitation, and I'll always respect that move
Rhaneys’ dragon is called Meleys “the red queen” she’s the fastest Targaryen dragon
There are children yapping about different sides and there are mature people observing both side and realize how fucked up both sides are
Very good points @Weinzierl1973
She wasn't forced.
@@sharonh9239 not at gunpoint no...but essentially yes. If that's what you take from my post then you're arguing a point that has no relevance to the subject matter -she did it out of loyalty for her father at least
