    Alex, thank you for this. I replaced my original rubber tires the first time with rubber. I know you said there are no PERFORMANCE advantages between rubber or urethane, but after watching you install urethane on a saw identical to mine I have decided than not dealing with glue is an advantage all its own, though, strictly speaking, not a performance advantage.
    Clear, concise, and to the point. Well done!

    The difficult we do immediately; the impossible takes a little longer.

    This video was a life saver…although it DID take SEVEN spring-clamps for me, LOL!

    Another great tip from Alex Snodgrass. For "hee-bee" the best; when it comes to Bandsaws. And if you get a chance to go; to any of his seminars; you will really like it. He KNOWS it to the "nth" degrees! Oh indeed. Thanks Kind Sir Alex.

      @@harleywood9588 I usually just use a screwdriver, pry it off or cut it

    I too got the “no name” Amazon because the brand name one for mine were $70 each instead of $8. Problem just a tad smaller than original and no way it was going on like that. 2 min in oven at 150 (don’t like rust) and took wheel off, only one nut. Put it on floor mat held it with my foot and just stretched it on. For if anyone wants to save some money- they will work

    I installed my tires just like you did with the clamps and it was not too difficult. I still wonder about crowned tires ?

    • @bandsawlife2660
      @bandsawlife2660  3 місяці тому

      Tires aren’t crowned, it the wheel that’s crowned

    This may have been covered somewhere else, but why urethane or why rubber? I just bought a secondhand bandsaw and the tire snapped about 10 minutes in although my other secondhand band saw at home is just fine and it’s been running for the last 2 years

      Urethane last longer and doesn’t require glue rubber requires glue and is a lot messier to install

    I got some "no name" band saw tires off Amazon. They were cheaper. Lol. Had one Carter Products tire. Struggled for days with that "no name set". Tried the Carter Products tire, used this method, and viola...its done! I have joint pain and arthritis and this was painless. Won't be using any more no name products that's for sure. Only Carter Products from here on out. Thanks Alex!

    I replaced the tires on my Rikon 10-326, using the Carter Urethane tires. There is a gap between the tire and the edge. Should the tires fill the cavity between the edge ridges?

    • @bandsawlife2660
      @bandsawlife2660  11 місяців тому +2

      Just push the tire forward, the gap allows for spread when the tire gets warm

    I replaced my rubber tires with urethane about 5 years ago. Ran the saw last week and when it stopped the upper tire was just hanging there. Clean break. I noticed a line on the blue tire Alex just installed on this video. Are these urethane tires glued or fused at a seam? Any advice on how to prevent this type of failure? Or a recommendation on how to prevent it?

    • @bandsawlife2660
      @bandsawlife2660  7 місяців тому

      If the tire broke on the seam it could be a defect. Are they Carters?

    I have been trying unsuccesfully for a couple hours trying every way possible to install my new tires. There is No way after clamping with several clamps that I can get any stretch on my tires! It is NOT easy. I wonder if Grizzly sent me the wrong tires.

    Hmmm. . . so my battle of the bands-aw tires wasn't necessary! Thanks.
