Part of the reason she looks like a 3rd wheel is she spent less time filming with them than they did with one another. She did not have one solitary scene 1:1 with Jonny. Not one. Not sure why the show did that - must have been really awkward.

They seem to genuinely enjoy each other's company like friends do, but that doesn't mean they fancy each other as potential life partners, that's a completely different thing. So much goes into nailing onscreen chemistry, the dialogues, the storyline. the characters, direction, the intimacy scenes and the actors' dedication to his or her character to that rapport between the actors is the icing on the cake, there are lots of onscreen couples who aren't that close off camera who nail it onscreen.
