I remember when Emerald Square opened, it was the biggest thing in the world and going there as a teenager was always an adventure. It was kinda bittersweet though, as I grew up in LIncoln and watched the Lincoln mall die as a result.
Sorry to burst your bubble but Emerald made over 10 million dollars with 0 empty spaces between 2014 and 2016, The height of the good economy. Providence place lost money in that time period, Right now we are sliding into a huge depression so some empty spots are expected. Emerald has no mortgage unlike all the other malls. Emerald also has a Simplex fire alarm system, huge cost savings. Mock my words Providence place will close soon.
Lol this didn’t age well. Theve always had outstanding debt so idk how it “made” 10 million dollars. Also it was placed in receivership in 2020 which sure, you can blame Covid but that would 100% happen with any (inevitable) economic downturn. Myself and many other saw this turn from a popping social hub even after the 2008 recession to a husk by 2017. Providence place is paid of now. Emerald was recently sold too
@@nottrash9034 It was not sold, Simon walked away, 2 of the original owners that came in 2010 are still there. The recivership you talk about was do to the debt Simon had on the property
It’s still open and not extremely empty (from Norton MA, and went to Emerald Square last month)
I’m guessing the closing of the Silver City Galleria mall in Taunton helped Emerald Squares business a little bit.
I haven’t been since October but I’m going back to school shopping this month,According to the directory it seems fine

I remember the carousel
I miss when the mall was full of people
Emerald Square is in north attleboro. Not attleboro. i wish it was in attleboro as a resident of attleboro myself.
