A Thermomix isn't quite as he explained it, having used a few in professional kitchens.
It's basically a blender that heats, and you can input the temperature you want + timer for it's blending.
It's great for sauces and oils, but sadly doesn't quite do the lot of things he goes on about. Wish it did, would be great.

Warner Bros patented the nemesis system, not copyrighted it. Similar to how Bandaid Namco patented the concept of having a mini game playable during the loading screen of another game (then almost never used it for the life of the patent, and it finally expired after SSDs made loading screens too quick to matter anyways). Patents last for ~20 years, whereas copyrights last for an absurdly long amount of time, something like the life of the author + 95 years. Patents are intended to be used for inventions/systems, whereas copyrights are for "creative works." When it comes to video games, neither fits perfectly, so we end up in weird situations like this where the US Patent & Trademark Office occasionally grants a patent for a "gaming system," but most of the time, developers don't even bother trying to get one. Copyright would protect their specific game from being duplicated, but would not protect the general gameplay systems (and imo, this stuff should never be patentable, or no one would ever be able to build upon good ideas from games of the past). Source: studied IP law in law school.

The AI art issues have several factors that make it especially heinous to me, two of which is how it’s a skill-less mess of other artists work mashed together, and it’s taking away opportunities from the artists out there who have the skill and passion for this CREATIVE (boldened because a computer is not creative, it’s a copier) line of work. Still, I’m glad they discussed the topic even if they don’t have as extreme of a reaction as I do. AI is the future for a lot of things, but it will never replace a human’s capacity for passion and creativity.

I don't think that AI could 100% replace anything especially artists and designers. it could be used as a tool by artists to make their job easier in cases like AAA title production it is feels like they need something like this to be able to make better games and make them more profitable.

It's one legitimate use case is shitposts. I just watched a video of a compilation of ai images of wizards terrorizing fast food joints. There is no loss from that since no one would bother to do that let alone pay for it.

    • @jamescarroll384

I think they're just synonyms, the English vs American English usage. But it does seem in America its broiled for an above heat source (largely radiation) and grilled for a below heat source (largely conduction). In the UK our grills (oven-grills) have heated elements above the food, though if you had an outside grill, like for a BBQ, obviously in that the heat typically comes from below. We use the term grilling for both, as seen in common parlance such as "give that a few more minutes UNDER the grill" and "pop a couple more burgers ON the grill for us mate".

    • @danw9403
      @danw9403 3 місяці тому +1

In the UK they all have different names.
What Americans call a broiler is called a grill in the UK, i.e. heat from above. What Americans call a grill, i.e. heat from below, is called a BBQ in the UK.

I have had anger management problems for basically my entire life, and I have to say that my biggest breakthrough was realizing that no, anger was not how I just safely vent and get it out of my system. Anger fuels more anger, whether you have a supposed safe space for it or not. I have no doubt that smash-up rooms may be cathartic for a few minutes, but longterm they'll do nothing good and a lot of bad.

The issue with AI generated content is that its actively just stealing artists content without their consent and profiting off of it. It is blatant exploitation and all its doing is causing issues in virtually every field. The accusations against palworld are about how close the models and designs are to the intellectual property its based on. If you've seen pretty much any of the designs theres a degree of concern of whether or not they've plagiarized but its mostly just uninspired riding of coattails. In addition to this, the unfortunate reality is that whether or not something is plagiarized the defense will always be "who cares, I like it"

Very weird take from Lewis on AI considering the Yogscast pretty much only do content creation and game publishing. Both things which are tightly intertwined with both the creative process of humans and employing said people. Do you really think the problem will be contained to just images? The advances in its abilities accelerated a lot quicker than people thought. How long until the same can be done both with game generation and video creation?
Young people in your generation grew up on mtv, then came the internet and now ticktock. The future generation will not have any problem looking at hours and hours of AI-videos of "almost BlueXephos" and "pretty much Honeydew". What are you working as then, and what are your friends and employees doing?
Robots were supposed to automate monotonous boring tasks. Not make fantasy and play worse than what was generated by a few words.

@@frodolon As far as I know, yes. Point being it's already possible to make AI video content and it's already on the platform.
There's not really anything stopping anyone feeding the lads voices to AI, getting it to read a script and uploading fake Triforce episodes. Any of their podcasts really. It's not a massive leap from there to entirely fake yogs content as most of it is just them talking over game footage.

PS: You should really rewatch the Star Trek episodes of Geordie and the engineer woman… Finding someone’s appearance attractive is not Perving, being nice to them isn’t either and he had to make this interactive holo version off her because of an emergency on the ship 🤦‍♂️
